U narucˇju Dalmacije
Tamo gdje prestaje kameni krš, počinje Privlaka, malen
poluotok ukopan u pijesak sjeverne Dalmacije koji se na
svojoj istočnoj strani spaja s kraljevskim Ninom. Iz 3 000
godina starog Zadra, s kojim je dijelio povijest i sudbinu,
do Privlake se modernom cestom stiže brzo. Obavijena
tajnovitošću bunara na kojima se zrcali svaka iskra življenja,
Privlaka je poput snenih ljubavnika, okrenuta sebi i onima
koji je ljubomorno čuvaju.
U moru pijeska pod toplim mediteranskim suncem Privlaka
je prekrivena vinogradima, natopljenim težačkim znojem.
Svoje tuge dala je moru koje se njezinim ribarima odužilo
bogatim ulovima ribe onda kada je najviše trebalo. Ovo
ribarsko mjesto i dalje njeguje najstarije načine ribolova.
Vrijedni će vas ljudi uvijek rado ponuditi vinom, suhim
smokvama, svježom ribom, školjkama...

Tra le braccia della Dalmazia
Privlaka begins where the rocky karst ends. It is a small
peninsula entrenched in the sands of northern Dalmatia
which is on its east side connected to the royal town of
Nin. It can be reached very quickly by a modern road from
a 3 000-year-old town called Zadar, with which it shared
the history and destiny. Wrapped in the mystery of its wells
which reflect every spark of life, Privlaka appears like sleepy
lovers, oriented towards it and towards those who guard it
jealously.
In the sea of sand under the Mediterranean sun Privlaka is
covered with vineyards, soaked in farm labourers’ sweat.
It gave its sorrows to the sea which paid its debts with
rich catch of fish when it was most needed. This fishing
place has continued to preserve the oldest ways of fishing.
Hardworking people who live there will always be happy to
offer wine, dried figs, fresh fish, clamshells...
Dort wo Stein und Karst aufhören beginnt Privlaka, die kleine
Halbinsel eingegraben in den Sand Norddalmatiens und
die auf ihrer Ostseite das königliche Nin verbindet. Aus dem
3000 Jahre alten Zadar, mit dem sie Geschichte und Schicksal
teilt, erreicht man Privlaka am schnellsten über die moderne
Straße. Umgeben von der Rätselhaftigkeit der Brunnen, auf
denen sich jeder Lebensfunken widerspiegelt ist Privlaka wie
verträumte Liebhaber sich selbst zugewandt und denen, die
es eifersüchtig beschützen.
In einem Meer von Sand unter der warmen, mediterranen
Sonne wird Privlaka von Weinbergen bedeckt, getränkt
in den Schweiß der Handlanger. Ihren Trauer gab sie dem
Meer, das ihren Fischern wiederum reichen Fischfang gab
als dies am notwendigsten war. Dieser Fischerort pflegt
auch weiterhin die ältesten Fischfangweisen. Die fleißigen
Menschen werden Ihnen stets gern Wein anbieten,
getrocknete Feigen, frischen Fisch, Muscheln...
Lì dove si ferma il terreno carsico di sasso appare Privlaka,
una piccola penisola sepolta nella sabbia della Dalmazia
Settentrionale che nella sua parte orientale si collega con la
città reale di Nin. Da Zara, la città vecchia più di 3 000 anni,
con la quale divise la storia e il destino, fino a Privlaka ci si
arriva velocemente grazie a una strada moderna. Avvolta nel
mistero dei pozzi i quali rispecchiano ogni raggio del vivere,
Privlaka appare come amanti assonnati, girata verso sé stessa
e verso coloro che la custodiscono gelosamente.
Nel mare di sabbia sotto il caldo sole mediterraneo si
vede Privlaka coperta di vigneti, inzuppata del sudore di
contadini. Ha dato tutte le sue tristezze al mare che pagò il
debito ai suoi pescatori con le ricche pesche allora quando
ne servivano di più. Questo luogo dei pescatori continua a
coltivare i più antichi modi di pesca. La gente diligente sarà
felice di offrirvi vino, fichi secchi, pesce fresco, conchiglie...

PROŠLOST I BLIZINE
Sedam kilometara duga, četiri široka, Privlaka je mala površinom, ali
velika srcem. Prvi se put spominje u 13. stoljeću. Bogata arheološkim
nalazima iz nama teško zamislivih 20 000 godina prije Krista donosi
prošlost. O posvećenosti kršćanstvu svjedoči niz crkava - Sv. Barbara iz
13. stoljeća i Sv. Kata iz 14. stoljeća.
Crkva Svetog Vida, pak, donosi svečanost svake godine u lipnju. Ovaj je
svetac zaštitnik ljekarnika, pivara, plesača, glumaca i gluhonijemih.
No središnja je župna crkva Rođenja Blažene Djevice Marije iz 19.
stoljeća koja se ubraja u najljepše primjere izvorne klasicističke
arhitekture u Dalmaciji.
HISTORY AND VICINITIES
With its length of seven and the width of four kilometres, Privlaka
has a small surface, but an enormous heart. It was first mentioned
in the 13th century. Rich in its archaeological findings dating back
from incredible 20 000 years B. C., it brings us the history itself.
Numerous churches – such as the Church of St. Barbara from the
13th century and the Church of St. Catherine from the 14th century
– witness the commitment to Christianity.
Every year in June there is a ceremony in the Church of St. Vitus.
This saint is the patron of pharmacists, brewers, dancers, actors and
deaf mutes.
The central church of the parish is the Church of Virgin Mary’s
Nativity from the 19th century which is considered among the
finest examples of original Classicist architecture in Dalmatia.

La chiesa di San Vito, Trecento
Mit sieben Kilometern Länge und vier Kilometern Breite ist Privlaka
flächenmäßig zwar klein aber mit großem Herzen. Das erste Mal
wird der Ort im 13. Jahrhundert erwähnt. Reich an archäologischen
Funden, die aus für uns schwer vollstellbare 20 000 Jahre v. Chr.
stammen bringen uns heute die Vergangenheit näher. Eine Reihe von
Kirchen zeugt von der Hingabe zum Christentum – die Hl. Barbara
aus dem 13. Jahrhundert und die Hl. Kata aus dem 14. Jahrhundert.
Die Kirche des Hl. Vid bringt indessen jedes Jahr im Juni eine
Feierlichkeit. Dieser Heilige ist der Patron der Apotheker, Brauer,
Tänzer, Schauspieler und Taubstummen.
Die zentrale Kirche ist allerdings die der Geburt der Heiligen Jungfrau
Maria (Rođenje Blažene Djevice Marije) aus dem 19. Jh., die zu den
schönsten Beispielen der ursprünglichen klassizistischen Architektur
in Dalmatien zählt.
STORIA E VICINANZE
Anche se ha una piccola superficie della lunghezza di sette e della
larghezza di quattro chilometri, Privlaka ha un cuore enorme. Viene
menzionata per la prima volta nel Duecento. Ci porta una ricca
storia grazie agli abbondanti scavi archeologici dagli inconcepibili
20 000 anni a.C. Le numerose chiese testimoniano la devozione al
cristianesimo – Santa Barbara del Duecento e Santa Caterina del
Trecento.
La Chiesa di San Vito, invece, porta con sé la celebrazione ogni anno
in giugno. Questo santo è il patrono di farmacisti, birrai, ballerini,
attori e sordomuti.
Però la chiesa centrale della parrocchia è quella della Nascita della
Madonna del dicianovesimo secolo la quale rappresenta uno dei
migliori esempi dell’originale architettura classicista della Dalmazia.

Ništa, međutim, nije tako upečatljivo kao
njezinih dvanaest bunara rasijanih po
cijelom poluotoku. Najpoznatiji među
tajnovitim dubinama iz kojih se crpio život
jest Sokolar pokraj crkvice Sv. Vida. Za
njega se veže legenda o nesretnoj ljubavi, a
spomenut je u prvom hrvatskom romanu.
However, nothing is as impressive as its
twelve wells dispersed throughout the
entire peninsula. The most famous one for its
depths from which life was drawn is Sokolar
near the Church of St. Vitus. There is a legend
connected to this well, a legend about an
unhappy love. Sokolar was first mentioned
in the first Croatian novel.
Allerdings ist nichts dermaßen auffällig wie
die zwölf Brunnen, die sich über die gesamte
Halbinsel verteilt befinden. Der bekannteste
von den geheimnisvollen Tiefen aus denen
Leben geschöpft wurde ist der Sokolar, der
sich neben der Kirche des Hl. Vid befindet. An
ihn ist eine Legende gebunden und er wird
ebenso im ersten kroatischen Roman erwähnt.

i suoi dodici pozzi sparsi su tutta la
penisola. Il più famoso per le sue misteriose
profondità dalle quali veniva estratta la vita
è Sokolar accanto alla chiesa di San Vito.

SABUNJARI
Izgovoriti riječ „sabunjar“ znači prizvati u sjećanje čovjeka kojemu se
niz znojna, izmučena pleća iz punog „škipa“ cijedi mokri sabun, kako bi
rukopisom mora ostavio neizbrisiv, a opet nevidljiv trag godina. Privlaka
je najpoznatija po njima, ljudima koji su mukotrpnim vađenjem pijeska
iz mora postali nadaleko poznati.
SABUNJARI
To pronounce the word “sabunjar“ means to think of a man from whose
tortured and sweaty back leaks wet sand through a full “škipa“ (a pot
which “sabunjari“ carried on their back in order to transport the sand). In
this way using the manuscript of the sea“sabunjari“ left an indelible, but
at the same time an invisible trace of years. Privlaka is famous for them,
for the people who became widely famous thanks to extracting the
sand from the sea.

Das Wort Sabunjar auszusprechen bedeutet sich einen Menschen in
Erinnerung rufen, dem nasser Sand seinen verschwitzten und erschöpften
Rücken hinunterläuft aus dem vollen Holzgefäß (dem sog. Škipa), in
dem Sand transportiert wurde, um mit der Handschrift des Meeres eine
unauslöschliche aber trotzdem unsichtbare Spur der Jahre zu hinterlassen.
Privlaka ist am bekanntesten für sie, diese Menschen, die mit der
anstrengenden Arbeit der Sandschöpfung aus dem Meer überall bekannt
wurden.
SABUNJARI
Pronunciare la parola “sabunjar“ significa evocare le memorie dell’uomo
dalla cui stanca e sudata schiena e dalla cui “škipa“ (una specie di terrina
di legno che “sabunjari“ portavano sulle spalle e dentro la quale si
trovava la sabbia che traevano dal mare) si filtrava la sabbia bagnata. In
questo modo “sabunjari“ lasciavano a manoscritto del mare una traccia
di anni nello stesso tempo incancellabile e invisibile. Privlaka è famosa
per i suoi “sabunjari“, per la gente che facendo un lavoro duro, cioè
traendo sabbia dal mare diventò famosa.

MORE, SUNCE, PIJESAK
Ovisno o tomu što želite, Privlaka nudi širok izbor smještaja,
od apartmana do kampova raznolikih ozračja. U Privlaci
je lako pronaći mjesto za kupanje i užitak u čistom moru.
U vikend–naselju Sabunikama plaža se spaja s rimskom
nekropolom u Ninu, skrivenom duboko pod pijeskom.
Čist zrak i ljekovito crno blato u Mostini pogoduju u liječenju
reumatskih bolesti, ginekoloških kroničnih upala te kožnih
bolesti. Brojne plitke i pješčane uvale idealno su mjesto za

beach is connected to the ancient Roman necropola in Nin,
hidden deeply under the sand.
Clean air and curative black mud in Mostina are favourable in
the treatment of rheumatic diseases, chronic gynaecological
inflammations and skin diseases. Numerous shallow and
sandy bays are a perfect place for a family vacation.

Derjenige, der auf der Anhöhe das Aneinanderstoßen
von Bocciakugeln und eine Trešete-Partie (dalmatinisches
Kartenspiel) hört, mit dem Gaumen Wein und Fisch vom
Grill schmeckt, mit dem Blick in die orangene Sonne
gerichtet, die in das weiche blaue Meer eintaucht, wird
hingerissen sein. Sie werden mit Sicherheit den Wunsch
haben, wiederzukommen um erneut in Ihnen die Zeit zu
