cosa complale. Il colpo Frankel è riuscito solo parzialmente a
Sheikh Fahad al Thani che aveva mandato alla super asta della
JRHA una foal figlia del crack di Khaled Abdullah, sorellastra del
campione di Hong Kong Gold-Fun. E' stata aggiudicata a Tosho
Terada per 96 milioni di Yen, una cifra pari a circa 505.000 ghinee,
inferiore alle 650.000 per cui - con la maschera del Newsells Park
- Sheikh Fahad aveva ricomperato la fattrice gravida alle December 2013.Nel subtotale potete metterci anche le assicurazioni, le
spese di viaggi, i dazi di entrata (particolarmente alti) e fiocchetti
vari. Insomma, il giovane Sceicco e il suo agente David Redvers
hanno fatto un'operazione a perdere in attesa di quelle a guadagnare perchè la volontà di investimento sul mercato giapponese
è evidente. Lo scorso anno Sheikh Fahad aveva preso qualche
puledro tanto per provare, lunedì e martedì ci è andato dentro piu
decisamente. Nella sessione riservata agli yearling ha comprato
per 260 milioni (1.420.000 ghinee) il top price, un maschio da
Deep Impact e dalla vincitrice di gruppo1 Listen (Sadler's Wells).
Martedì si è scatenato prendendo sette foals (cinque Deep Impact, un King Kamehameha e un Victoire Pisa). In totale ha speso
824 milioni di yen, 4.520.000 ghinee. Lo scorso anno al book 1
delle October per 13 puledri aveva dovuto sborsare 2.605.000.
Due investimenti fatti in due realtà diverse possono essere difficilmente paragonati. Gli acquisti alla boutique di Newmarket non
sono i soli in Europa e sono stati effettuati da un operatore già presente. Quelli in Giappone sono in pratica il secondo atto ufficiale
per un proprietario che nelle prossime settimane dovrebbe ricevere la licenza della Japan Racing Association. L'asta selezionata
della JHRA ha confermato la salute del sistema Giappone malgrado la svalutazione dello yen faccia risultare meno scintillanti,
quando si paragonano i dati in altre valute. In due sessioni d'asta
sono stati venduti 404 lotti per 12.575.000.000 yen, circa 69 milioni di ghinee. Sapete a quanto era arrivato lo scorso anno il book
1 delle October? Una virgola sopra, 70.343.000 ghinee.
Il semplice paragone con l'asta piu importante dovrebbe essere
già una carezza per gli allevatori nipponici che, però, non si accontentano. Onestamente non sappiamo se a Hokkaido si ballino
le stesse tarantelle dei ring europei (riacquisti mascherati, etc...)
ma la fotografia che viene dai risultati è di una solidità incredibile.
In due giorni sono passati 33 figli di Deep Impact: lunedì sono stati
venduti 12 yearling su 13, a una media di 106.875.000 yen; martedì i foals hanno fatto 20 su 20 con una media di 86.750.000 e
un mediano di 66 milioni. Per leggere i risultati in trasparenza considerate che la monta di Impacto costava 12 milioni nel 2012
(quando sono stati concepiti gli yearling) e 15 nel 2013.
Da Hokkaido sono arrivati segnali interessanti anche per l'Italia, al-
meno per quello che il nostro sistema "corse-allevamento" ha prodotto negli anni. Martedì un foal da Stay Gold e la vincitrice del
Lydia Tesio Turfrose (fratellastro del vincitore di gruppo 2 Rosa Gigantea) è stato acquistato per 140 milioni dalla Danox Co. Lunedì
uno yearling da Heart's Cry e Xua (laureata del Regina Elena) è arrivato a 90 milioni, il primo prodotto (da King Kamehameha) dell'altra vincitrice di Regina Elena My Sweet Baby ha fatto 50 milioni
e hanno trovato acquirente anche i figli di Shoko (femmina da
Danon Chantilly) a 16 e Windhuk (maschio da Daiwa Major) a 15.
Per un Neo Universe e Pragelato (figlia di Bardonecchia) sono stati
spesi 43 milioni. I giapponesi saranno magari di bocca buona ma
non hanno l'anello al naso. Se comprano con fiducia i figli di cavalle
generate dal sistema italiano ci sarà pure una ragione...

Magro magro il nostro maiden report settimanale. Poche corse e
per pochi soldi. Troppo pochi. Le due tradizionali condizionate di
preparazione al degradato Criterium Varesino sono una fotografia
fedele dei nostri programmi. Il concetto di separare maschi e femmine è teoricamente valido ma si scontra con i numeri: Malaspina
e Clockwinder hanno battuto quattro rivali ciascuno per incassare
2.975 euro. Di due corse se ne poteva fare una di dotazione decorosa. Fiato sprecato? Per quello che costa possiamo anche permetterci questo lusso.
Malaspina ha messo insieme i mezzi che aveva lasciato intendere
ed è arrivata a una vittoria tutta intera facendo brillare gli storici
colori Fert nella doppia veste di allevatore e proprietario. E' una
sorellastra del buon Morgante, la mamma è una Gulch e il padre
Pounced sta mantenendo le promesse con la sua prima annata.
Clockwinder è il primo prodotto di una discreta cavalla da corsa
come Ars Nova. A Siracusa, dove il programmatore può fare l'appello dei cavalli presenti come a scuola, i 2 anni corrono quasi
sempre in classe mista. Così facendo nella maiden di venerdì si
sono raccolti 11 partenti, battuti da Isola D'Arcadia, una Red
Rocks alla prima uscita in Sicilia. In Toscana si attende la riapertura
di Livorno, al Nord chi non vuole correre per un premio da miseria
aspetta Merano.

ASTE NEL MONDO - July Sales
Dopo aver sfidato pioggia, cieli plumbei
e clima non propriamente estivo, l’atmosfera delle Tattersalls July è stato definito
caldissimo! Da un paio di anni a questa
parte infatti c’è un acquirente per tutto
ed è emblematico quello che emerge dai
dati ufficiali della 3 giorni di aste che
hanno visto un incremento sia del fatturato che del numero dei cavalli venduti,
su quello presentati. Solo in questa 3
giorni il 92% dei cavalli presentati (contro
l’87% dello scorso anno) ha trovato un
acquirente. Abbiamo citato il fatturato:
Ebbene, questo, lo scorso 2013 era aumentato del 46% rispetto ai dati del
2012, mentre nel 2014 questo è cresciuto di un ulteriore 20% rispetto a quel
46% con un movimento totale di 8,342,700 gns, il terzo fatturato
di tutti i tempi dal 2007, con la media a 16,685gns (+ 4%) ed i
mediani a 10,000gns (+25%). Ci sarebbero tante di quelle cose
da raccontare che non basterebbe l’intera rivista, ci limitiamo a
raccontare quelli che sono stati i momenti salienti dell’asta dei cavalli in training che, negli ultimi anni, ha assunto un ruolo importante per via del fatto che i paesi in via di sviluppo equino, pare,
non abbiano dimestichezza con la doma e dunque preferiscono
acquistare un prodotto ben rodato, fatto e finito. E difatti, i riflessi
vanno tutti in questa direzione. Come dicevamo, l’asta ha realizzato un ottimo fatturato superiore a quello degli scorsi anni sebbene non ci fosse una star vera e propria, e questo lo si evince
dall’altro indice raccontato dai dati dove emerge che solo 5 cavalli
hanno superato la soglia dei “sei zeri” quando lo scorso anno ben
8 hanno lo hanno scavalcato. Non c’è stato nemmeno il cavallo
da 200,000gns, come lo scorso anno, ma nonostante ciò i prezzi
sono stati mediamente più alti con oltre 20 paesi rappresentati,
molti di questi provenienti dal Golfo Persico, ed i venditori con sorrisi a 32 denti così come le scocietà di trasporto dei cavalli verso
il Qatar. Uno di quelli che ha contribuito in maniera massiccia è
stato appunto il trainer Qatariota Gassim Ghazali il quale, come lo
scorso anno, ha fatto da mattatore con i suoi Riyals convertiti in
Sterline sonanti. Ha acquistato sotto vari nomi e varie forme, ma
il gruppo a lui riconducibile, in concreto, ha visto ben 42 cavalli
passare sotto il suo cappello. Ha speso una cosa come
1,200,000gns, qualcosa in più rispetto allo scorso anno quando
ne prese 18 al costo complessivo di 920,000gns. Ma parliamo di
cavalli: Nella prima giornata è passato soprattutto materiale da Allevamento con molte fattrici gravide. Il top price della sessione è
stato realizzato da Halation (Azamour), ex di Marco Botti, un 3 anni
progressivo vincitore di 2 corse a 3 anni e recentemente affermatosi a Newcastle.

Era di proprietà di Al Asayl Bloodstock Ltd, ma per 120,000 gns
è stato lasciato andare via grazie all’offerta vincente per David
Redvers che ha speso la cifra per il castrone per conto di Sheikh
Fahad Al Thani (molto attivo anche nelle aste giapponesi) il quale
ha avuto la meglio del solito Gassim Al Ghazali che ne è stato l’underbidder. Halation è stato presentato sotto le insegne della The
Castlebridge Consignment con un rating ufficiale di 85. Andrà in
training da David Simcock. Dwayne e Wendyll Woods si sono invece assicurati il secondo prezzo più alto del primo giorno per
90,000gns acquistando Rawoof (Nayef), una 3 anni ex di Shadwell. Ed in tema di fattrici gli altri acquisti sono stati tutti in questa
direzione: Interessante è stato quello della fattrice Gulbarg (Dubawi), gravida di Shamardal, acquistata per 80,000gns dal Kilfrush
Stud’per conto di Mubarak Al Naemi. Allevata dal Darley, ha lo
stesso ramo familiare della campionessa Ouija Board, madre del
campione Australia. I pezzi forti sono stati nel secondo giorno
quando, a farla da padrone, sono state le wild cards. Il top price,
poi rimasto in assoluto dell’asta e non solo del day 2, è stato il 3
anni New Street (Acclamation) venduto per 185,000 gns. Ad acquistarlo l’agente Bobby O’Ryan per conto del proprietario James
Smith ed il trainer Jim Best.. facile intuire che si tratta di un cavallo
che ben presto verrà impiegato sui salti. Sinora ha corso 7 volte
per Richard Fahey, vincendo in 2 occasioni (una all’ultima uscita)
ed ha un rating di 84.. in piano, in ostacoli si vedrà.
Il candidato maggiore ad avere il ruolo di top price, prima di New
Street, è stato invece Brendan Brackan (Big Bad Bob) alla fine acquistato da David Redvers per conto di Sheikh Fahad il quale ha
dato l’ok alla cifra di 145,000 guineas. Il figlio di Big Bad Bob, stallone in ascesa, è vincitore di Gruppo e tornerà nelle scuderie di
Ger Lyons, le Glenburnie Stables. Brendan è un 111 di rating internazionale, ha 5 anni, a 4 ha vinto le Solonaway Stakes e nel
2014 ha corso anche a Meydan, dove tornerà per il prossimo inverno. Sempre nel secondo giorno il terzo prezzo più alto è stat
fatto registrare dalla 2 anni Ko Cache (Kodiac), vincitrice di 2 corse
e recentemente vista bene nelle Queen Mary ad Ascot. Ad aggiudicarsela è stato Hussain Ali Bukannan, allevatore proprietario del
Bahrain che per la femmina ha disegnato un percorso in patria. A
parlarne l’allenatore Zuhair Mohsen il quale ha detto infatti che
c’è un bel programma per femmine in Qatar e molto probabilmente farà il percorso di Peter Mac, acquistato lo scorso anno qui
e vincitore della Bu Samra Cup in Marzo. Quando entrerà in razza
tornerà in Inghillterra, dove Mr Mr Bukannan ha già qualche fattrice. Concludendo il day 2 possiamo dire ancora che Gassim
Ghazali si è portato a casa Stevies Wonder e Fugleman rispettivamente per 85,000 e 75,000 gns. Stevies Wonder è un figlio di
Art Connoisseur, secondo al debutto, dietro un cavallo promettente come Gleneagles.
Nel terzo giorno ancora un “clearance” spettacolare del 95%. 137
cavalli venduti per 2,266,900 guineas (+21%) con il top price della
sessione fatto registrar dal castrone di 3 anni Starchitect acquistato in prospettiva National Hunt da Donald McCain per 110,000
gns. McCain ha acquistato il figlio di Sea The Stars dalla yard di

Eddie Lynam. C’erano anche i dispersal di Juddmonte, con 45
cavalli venduti per un totale di 764,000gns circa. Il prezzo più alto
di questi lo ha fatto registrare la femmina Fly Past (Zamindar), di
una famiglia buonissima, pagata 80,000gns. Poco meno ha fatto
invece Frangipanni (Dansili), ancora made in Juddmonte, prodotto della fattrice Frizzante, vincitrice proprio della July Cup qualche anno fa, acquistata dalle scuderie di Roger Charlton per
78,000gns.
Gli italiani erano presenti ma hanno avuto vita durissima nel mercato in basso. Ne citiamo qualcuno: La Golden Horse di Giuliano
Fratini ha comprato una figlia di Kyllacky di 3 anni dal Darley che
non ha mai corso ancora. Paolo Favero ha comprato 5 cavalli
spendendo complessivamente 43,000 circa e, come prezzo più
alto, spendendo 14,000 gns per Alisios (Ialysos), un 3 anni da
Luca Cumani. Federico Barberini, molto ben inserito nel sistema
e molto considerato per la sua professionalità, ne ha comprati
ben 7, anche e soprattutto per acquirenti stranieri, tra cui Premium Pressure, un War Front pagato 27,000gns.
Mario Massimi ha comprato Biography, un 3 anni da Assertive
dalla scuderia di Richard Hannon con 81 di rating, pagandolo
“solo” 9000 gns. David Ducci ha portato a casa una femmina da
Champs Elysees da Juddmonte, che si chiama Time Signal, per
gns 2500, per conto della Archi Romani a cui è stata dedicata
una bella pagina del Racing Post qualche giorno fa. La femmina
molto probabilmente verrà messa in razza alla fine della carriera,
vista la buona genealogia di marca Abdullah.
