The Program
Campus Abroad is a short-term study abroad
program that Università Bocconi organizes in cooperation with partner universities around the
world.
It is an intensive intercultural experience that allows you to take advantage of the break in the
academic calendar to spend three weeks
abroad, offering you an opportunity to:
The program provides:
• a Bocconi elective course, taught in English
by Bocconi and local professors
• country specific seminars on economic, social,
political and cultural aspects of the host country
held by local faculty and experts
visits
to companies, local institutions, interna•
tional organizations, etc.
• prepare
yourself through an initial international exposure within a program entirely coordinated on-site by a Bocconi Program
Manager, in view of longer international experiences (e.g. Exchange, Double Degree, Internship Programs Abroad)
• enrich your curriculum with an international
academic experience (a Bocconi elective
course of your 3rd year taught by Bocconi faculty and professors from the host school)
• be prepared to succeed in a global environment as well as gain a deeper insight into international issues in a particular geographic area
(guest lecturers to familiarize you with the economic, social and cultural background of a new
country)
• create a bridge between the conceptual theories, methodologies and techniques taught in
class and their application to real case studies,
as well as explore career options, getting in
contact with organizations, public institutions
and business companies (corporate and institutional visits)

Undergraduate Eligibility and Selection
The Campus Abroad program is especially aimed
at 2nd year Undergraduate students, regularly
enrolled in a Bocconi Bachelor degree, and it
takes place within the summer of their 2nd to 3rd
year.
3rd year students (not graduating before October
2014) may also apply, but they will be considered
in the selection process only after all 2nd year applicants.
Academic requirements
• GPA: minimum 22/30 (average weighted on
credits)
• Credits: at least 60% of 1st year credits registered
Requirements must be met by 8 February 2014.
Language requirements
If your native language is not English and if you are
not enrolled in a Bocconi Bachelor degree taught
in English (BIEMF), you must prove a good knowledge of the English language (level B2 or higher)
by providing an English language certificate or any
other valid qualification (refer to the Bocconi Language Center table).
Selection process
Selection is based on an evaluation of merit, taking into consideration your academic weighted average and the number of credits registered up to
8 February 2014. You will receive 0.1 weighted
points for each credit above the minimum number
of credits required. These points will be added to
your credit-weighted average, calculated according to the criteria described above.

Simon Fraser University – Beedie School
of Business
Since the creation of Canada’s first Executive
MBA in 1968, SFU Business has been one of the
top Canadian business schools, accredited by the
AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate
Schools of Business). SFU has had a partnership
with Bocconi on the exchange program since
2004, and so far 9 editions of the Campus Abroad
Program have taken place.
Accommodation
Single occupancy bedrooms in townhouses (4
single bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen). Linens,
towels and cooking facilities included.

Course:
Social Responsibility in Business
Government and No Profit
(Bocconi code 30216)
Bocconi Faculty:
Nicola Misani
The course presents the responsibility paradigm,
directed at guiding the behavior of business, the
public sector and the nonprofit sector in their relationship with society. Students explore the challenges inherent in managing organizations that
want to perform in the financial, social, and environmental dimensions. They are confronted with
such issues as sustainability, ethics, social entrepreneurship, microfinance, NGOs, accountancy
and transparency. Theory and practice are combined dynamically, making room for class discussion and case studies aimed at showing how
social responsibility can be interpreted in the real
world. Different perspectives are contrasted and
compared.
China – Shanghai
Fudan University - School of Management
Founded in 1905, Fudan is the main university in
Shanghai and PIM member. This prestigious university has had an exchange agreement with Bocconi since 2004. In 2006, Bocconi and Fudan
jointly developed a Double Degree program in International Management. In the summer of 2014
it will host the 13th edition of a Campus Abroad.

Course:
Marketing and Citizen Relationship
Management
(Bocconi code 30229)

The course adopts an innovative marketing paradigm for services provided to citizens, in private markets and quasi-markets or under the
responsibility of central and local governments,
of public utilities and nonprofit organizations
(e.g. social services and healthcare, public
transportation, tourism promotion, etc.).
In accordance with this approach, public marketing improves trust relationships between
governments and citizens and supports the creation of territorial value. Two main fields of marketing innovation will be investigated: healthcare
and services provided by major cities (the so
called “sm@rtcities”: e.g. Shanghai, Singapore,
Tokyo, Berlin and Venice).
USA – Evanston (Chicago)
Northwestern University
Northwestern University was founded in 1851. It
is one of the top research universities in the United
States and in 2013 it is ranked as the 12th Best
College in the country. Northwestern University
signed an Exchange agreement with Università
Bocconi starting in the 2011-2012 a.y.

Corporate Banking

The course is focused on the analysis of corporate banking activities. The main goal of the program is to offer both a clear framework and a set
of operative tools to understand the relationship
between firms and the financial system. After a
brief introduction dedicated to the competitive
framework and main activities for the corporate
and investment banking business, specific attention is given to corporate finance deals.
USA – Washington
Georgetown University - McDonough
School of Business
Founded in 1789, the same year the US Constitution took effect, Georgetown University is one of
the oldest and most prestigious universities in the
US. In the summer of 2014 it will host the 6th edition of a Campus Abroad program.

International Project Finance
(Bocconi code 30179)

How do firms finance new e-projects? How do
they arrange financing for infrastructures which
are critical for the life of a country and the utilization of natural resources? Project Finance is
the common language spoken by financing institutions and the industry when dealing with the
financing of new investment projects. It is an interdisciplinary subject that brings together Finance, Accounting, Law, and Risk Analysis. This
course will provide students with a broad introduction to this fascinating and timely subject. In
the first part, we will assess the principles of
project financing and of structured finance
transactions, analyzing the different contracts
involved and their implications for sponsors and
lenders. In the second part, we will address the
methods utilized in professional practice to evaluate the profitability of industrial investments.
We will conclude the course with an overview of
project risks analysis in its various aspects – e.g.
Market Risk Analysis, Credit Risk Analysis,
Technology Risks etc. The course material and
discussions will have an application-oriented
approach and will be supported by the analysis
of industry case studies in several sectors, from
energy to transportation.

Within the same deadline, you must provide a copy
of your English certificate (if applicable). For further

Participants are responsible for the following
costs:
• program fees
- registration fee (€ 200, fixed)
- participation fee* (variable)
• airfare and traveling expenses
• visa to enter the country of destination

for the entire period spent abroad
• board (when not included) and extra costs
At the time of enrollment you can indicate up to four
choices in order of preference. Waiting lists will be
compiled for each destination.
Academics
The exam is fully recognized as a Bocconi exam
and no “recognition procedure” is required. The
courses taught within the Campus Abroad program
are open to students from all Bocconi Bachelor degrees. To have exams and corresponding credits
registered in your academic career, you must pass
the final exam and participate in both classes and
related activities. Upon completion of the program,
the course is registered in your academic career, as
long as it conforms to the program structure regulations, either as an elective course or an additional
course. The course, which is held entirely in English,
may count as one of the minimum number of
exams to be taken in English.
*The participation fee varies according to the destination. It
includes tuition, use of campus facilities (where indicated),
accommodation in university dorms, residences or hotels
for the entire duration of the program, transportation for
compulsory activities, on-site Program Manager and organizing costs.
Scholarships
Every year several scholarships granted by ISU
Bocconi (Student Assistance and Financial Aid
Center) are available for the Campus Abroad program participants.
