Tenuta Parco dei Monaci (Monks Park) is an ancient estate on the Murgia plateau, where the only lands that can be plowed are small terraces on naked limestone. For here, in the 18th century, the Basilian Monks had held their own vineyards. Today, thanks to a modern cellar built in 2007 directly on the estate, we produce all our wines from on-site, hand-harvested grapes. Production is strictly limited to ensure the highest quality. Laura's Winery is located in San Gimignano, in the heart of Tuscan countryside. This historic borgo can trace its history back many centuries in a part of Italy where time has passed but has not changed the charme and tradition of this small shire. We can host up to 25 guest at a time in a lovely, little apartments set in the middle of this working farm. For our guest we host tastings in a warm and friendly family setting. This is a working farm where we encourage to learn about and partecipate in as many aspects as possible of the growth, harvest production of both wines and olive oil. Fabio's winery, la Fornace, is located in Montalcino.La Fornace is a small family run estate whose origins are mingled with peasant farming history. La Fornace is situated in the heart of Montalcino hill, the estate altitude is 400 m above sea-level. At the beginning of 20th century Montalcino countryside was cultivated with vineyards and olive groves, and already the parents of my grandparents worked in La Fornace as sharecroppers. Since 1964 my grandparents purchased this small estate of 2,5 hectares. Now the extent of the estate is almost 8 hectares. To the beginning, as the greatest part of small estates, the production was based on the table wine to sell loose. In 1998 my parents have left to me the management of the estate, but all the family help me in this work, so the wine production, from the farming of the vines and careful selection by hand of the grapes to the vinification, the ageing and refining, through to the selling of the wine is carried out by my and my family. The vocation for cultivating the vines has long-lived tradition that has never been interrupted. 6 TULIO MARCELLI Table: 5 Winery Profile Contact Details Arezzo 52100 T: +390575361722 [email protected] http://www.relaislatorre.it Annual Production (Bottles): 35.000 Designation of Origen: Tuscany Vines: Yes Nº Hectares: 12 Exports to: Australia: (1000). He was known to use the wines while performing his exorcist ritual of ridding poor souls of demons. Scacciadiavoli is the resulting dream of the Prince of Piombino, Ugo BoncompagniLudovisi. In 1884, the estate was built as a complex and modern wine “factory”. Today, the Pambuffetti family owns Scacciadiavoli. The estate is made up of 130 hectares, 35 of which make up the vineyards with an annual production of approximately 250,000 bottles. The vines cover a hill in the heart of the “Montefalco” appellation divided between the three provinces of Gualdo Cattaneo, Giano dell’Umbria and Montefalco. Scacciadiavoli is one of the most ancient estate in Montefalco. The name, that means “ Devil Banisher”, derives from a small village, that arises in proximity of the estate, where lived an exorcist in the 17th century. Built in the second half of the 19th century the winery has been recently remodeled with modern mechanisms and practices. In the second half of 20th century , Amilcare Pambuffetti, the grandfather of the actual owners, acquired it. The estate is 130 ha of which 35 ha is vineyard. The actual production is about 250000 bottles. The ground composition is schist clay: the vineyards exposure is EastSoutheast and the middle altitude is 400 meters. The reconversation and the development of the wine growing surface is completed with the realization of vineyards with 5000 getters/ha . The wine produced by Scacciadiavoli are the ones typical of the Montefalco area: Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG dry and sweet, Montefalco Rosso DOC e Grechetto dell’Umbria IGT. During the last few years Scacciadiavoli presented a recent addition to their portfolio :the “ Spumante Brut Classic Method” made from Sagrantino grapes. 17 VIOLA TERESA Table: 17 Winery Profile Contact Details Via croce del vicario 81 95041 T: 0933-25064 Annual Production (Bottles): 4000 - 000 Designation of Origin: Sicily Vines: Yes Nº Hectares: 1,4000 Exports to: Canada, Italy Interested in Exporting to: Europe, United States http://www.casaledellerose.com [email protected] Participant: Francesco Lirosi Name Don Michelangelo Grape (%) Harvest Ageing Nerello cappuccio (60). The twenty hectares fully intended for the vine cultivation are divided into three different farmsteads: FROI, GARASSINO and LA PALAZZINA. From five generation we make grapes and wines in the maximum respect for enviroment. Vines are our passion, in fact we work every day in the vineyards, trying to obtain the best fruits that nature can give us. The most beautiful thing is be able to convey all of these emotions to people who taste our wines. These choices allow us to protect our health, yours but especially the vine’s health. We makes high quality wine by starting in the vineyard with meticulous attention paid to every step in the process with respect for the environment, from mechanical mowing rather than using herbicides, organic fertilizers, to being the first winery in the area to control pests with the use of natural pheromones (sexual confusion) and finally the careful selection of high quality fruit by hand harvesting every bunch of grapes. And two years ago we have made the important decision to became a certified organic winery. Low yields per hectare, favored by significant thinning “green harvest” and advanced cultivation techniques allow us to obtain high quality grapes.. 21 BRIZIARELLI Table: 21 Winery Profile Contact Details Via Colle Allodole n. 10 06031 Bevagna (PG) T: 075/602784 Annual Production (Bottles): 100.000 – 150.000 Designation of Origen: Umbria Vines: Yes Nº Hectares: 16,22 Exports to: USA; France, Germany, Russia.
