Learning about countries & regions in Asia Pacific area from a social sciences perspective in regards to the diversity of cultures, social structures & economic systems. You will be awarded a bachelor's degree in social science after completion of the four-year course APSでは何を学べますか? APMは経営学を中心に勉強するのに対し、APSでは社会学等の社 会科学を中心に広く学びます。 その際、これを、多様な文化や社会構 造、経済システムを有するアジア太平洋地域との関係において、具体 的に学ぶ機会を提供します。 上記の学修を4年間続け、卒業に必要な諸要件を満たすことにより、 最終的には学士号（アジア太平洋学）を取得することが出来ます。 College of Asia Pacific Studies／ アジア太平洋学部 How has APS curriculum been structured? It is structured in such a way that can provide the three dimensions of Breadth, Depth and Flexibility The Breadth requirement consists of 40 credits of language and foundation courses. The Depth component comes in form of 62 credits of major courses selectable from four clusters. The Flexibility aspect is achieved through 22 credits of General Elective requirement. Student will be exposed to: Quantitative Research Method – Developed in the natural sciences to study natural phenomena. Qualitative Research Method – Developed in the social sciences to enable researchers to study social and cultural phenomena and make sense of or interpret phenomenon in terms of the meanings people bring to them. Mixed-Methods Research – Use of both qualitative and quantitative methods in a single study or program of inquiry. 3rd Year Seminars (Major Seminar I & II)／ 3回生演習科目(専門演習 I & II) Learning Objectives Gain understanding of a specific topic through indepth study and debate, and acquire the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to either write an undergraduate thesis for those who are interested in advancing to graduate study. or work on special case studies which are relevant to the students’ career path. 科目の目標 最終的な目標は「掘り下げた学習と討論を通じ特定の テーマについて理解を深めるとともに、卒業論文作成に 必要な論理的思考力と論文作成能力を磨くこと」です。 th 4 Year Seminars (Research Seminar and Thesis) ／4回生演習科目(研究ゼミ及び卒論) General Procedures Students take Research Seminar (2 credits) in the first half of their 4th year. Interested students must apply to take Research Seminar during the latter half of their 3rd year of studies. Students who successfully pass this subject are then able to take Undergraduate Thesis (4 credits) the following semester. Only students who pass Research Seminar are able to complete Undergraduate Thesis. 一般的な手順 学生は4回生の前半セメスターに卒業研究（2単位）を履修します。 4回生演習を履修するための申請時期は、3回生の後半セメスター時です。 P（合格）評価を与えられた学生は後半セメスターに卒業論文を作成します 、合格すれば4単位を取得できます。 卒業研究がF（不合格）評価の場合は卒業論文を登録することができません。 APS Graduation Requirements & Degree (cont’d)／ APSの卒業要件と学位 (続き) Degree Titles Those who complete 20 or more credits of subjects from a specific Area of Study will also receive the Area of Study on their diploma. Please note that students need to register for their Area of Study via Campusmate in order to have the name of their Area of Study noted on their diploma.
