EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORTS
President, Daryl Overlock – Daryl welcomed everyone.
Finance Report – Gene Murabito reminded everyone of the Centennial Celebration taking place at Pompei Park on
November 4, 5 & 6th. The time capsule will be opened on Friday evening at 6:00 pm. Bring the family and enjoy the
carnival rides, the food vendors, the exhibitors, and all of the planned activities. The Planning Commission has
approved the opening of a Panera Bread on the Hyundai Property. Negotiations are underway to bring a Sprouts and
JoAnn’s onto the site. The pad for the Old Grand Florist needs to be developed. Chili’s controls the pad next to them
in the Diamond Ridge development, so that is why no building has taken place on that site. Traffic issues related to the
Diamond Ridge development are being studied. Regarding the financials, although the budget reflects a $9,562.57
deficit, once monies from Flashback are received that will change. Also monies from the Business Expo, the Business
Killer Workshop and map sales have yet to be deposited. Accounts Receivables are $129,847.97 and Total Liabilities
and Equity are $218,809.14. Income is 21.6% of budget which is just short of the projected 25%. Payroll expenses are
up, but that issue is being discussed. Overall the first quarter budget is looking pretty good. A motion to accept the
budget was made by Dennis Chiappetta and seconded by Arif Taj.
CITY AND COMMUNITY REPORTS
City Council Report–Joe Santoro reported that the three unions came together and agreed to a complete revamp of the
retirement system which will save the City approximately $130,000 over the next three years. The City has serious
concerns about the public safety realignment act and the early release of prisoners back into society. The burden this
will place on local municipalities is huge and the state has no plans to contribute funds back to local municipalities to
offset the financial burden the early release of these prisoners will place upon law enforcement and society.
Glendora’s finance department won an award for its finance excellence. Several lawsuits are pending regarding the
loss of redevelopment dollars and vehicle license fees. The state has taken over $130 million dollars from cities and
counties.

REPORTS FROM EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS
GUSD –No report
COUSD –No report
Citrus College –Dr. Perri reported that the college has been approved to receive 3 grants totaling over $8 million
dollars. The monies will be received over the next three years. Students are being encouraged to go into teaching or
the science fields. The college is partnering with CSU Fullerton to make transferring from a junior college into a state
university easier. Everyone was reminded of the 5 Chamber joint mixer being hosted by Citrus College on October
26th at 5:30 pm.
Coordinating Council –Rona Lunde reported that the Holiday Basket Program is underway and packing of the food
will take place the first week of November. Rona reminded everyone that Coordinating Council meets on the second
Monday of each month at the Continental Restaurant.
GUSD Fdn –No report
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Ambassador Report –Donna Black reported that the Ambassadors are having an ongoing discussion on how to
improve their impact upon the Chamber and become stronger and more viable to the Chamber. The committee is open
to ideas and suggestions that will help. The Ambassadors have agreed to make a better showing at events.
Arif Taj suggested that the Ambassadors work with Joe to contact the membership and knock on the doors of new
businesses to invite them to join the Chamber.
Legislative Committee –Cliff Hamlow reported that the Legislative Committee attempted to put together a School
Board Forum, but because of scheduling conflicts and time constraints, was unable to pull one together. Redistricting
issues and the impact they will have on Glendora remain a concern of the committee. It will take time and effort to
build relationships with our new legislators. The Board was encouraged to view the Cal-Chamber website to check on
upcoming bills and the status of proposed legislation. The Governor vetoed 4 of the last 5 job-killer bills. Cliff
reported that The San Gabriel Valley Coalition of Chambers meets quarterly and he has volunteered to attend the
meetings as the representative for Glendora.
Dr. Perri reported that Citrus College is working on redistricting. The Board of Trustees is looking at the cities and
number of trustees covering each area and making some changes. For example, Azusa will now be covered by 2
trustees instead of 4.
Centennial Committee –Dennis Chiappetta commented that the Centennial Celebration promises to be a great, funfilled weekend for the entire family, so please plan on stopping by. A lot of hard work and countless hours have gone
into planning the event. In addition, the committee has worked with a small budget to bring the 3-day event to the
community.
Arif Taj commented that there is a big event taking place in Pomona on November 5th, so he hopes that won’t affect
attendance for the Centennial.
STAFF REPORTS
Director of Operations, Kathy Hodge – No report
Business Development, Joe Cina- Joe reported that there were 43 vendors at the Expo and overall it was deemed a
success with lots of attendance. Feedback from the vendors has been positive and except for a few negative
comments, most everyone was pleased. Of course, they always want more foot traffic. Two ads went into the
newspapers, lots of flyers were handed out and the event was heavily promoted. The Expo netted $3,400. Thirty two

people signed up for the Job Killer Workshop which netted $500. People seemed happy with the topics covered and
the Chamber gained two new members from it. The membership seems pleased that the Chamber is providing them
with more information. The World’s Largest Mixer at the Ontario Convention Center is taking place tonight. The
Chamber will have a booth and we have some free tickets for anyone interested in attending. 25 Chambers participate
in the event and thousands attend between the hours of 5 and 9 pm. The Chamber will have a booth at the upcoming
Centennial and time slots are available for anyone that would like to man the booth during the 3-day event. While in
the booth, we encourage you to promote your business to the public. See me if you are interested.
New Business –No report
