Citizen Electronics has developed an electronic device
business focused on LEDs. Among other things, the
‘illumination’ and ‘automotive equipment’ markets that our
company has entered are growth areas and international
competition is tense. Therefore, we cannot survive
without asserting our strong presence in these markets.
Accordingly, under the slogan of “Back to the source,” we
are reviewing our on-site production system,
strengthening our base and pursuing manufacture of
products with higher quality and reliability, which are
advantages of Japanese companies. Utilizing strength
as a development proposal provider, which is one of our
features, and taking advantage of our “passion for
manufacturing” and “spirit for meeting a challenge” that
we have maintained since company formation, we try to
manufacture products that are unconventional and
surprising. For instance, we have pursued only increased
brightness for LED lighting but we will also strive for
“quality of light” that enables people to feel comfortable
as they go about their daily lives.
The Citizen Group has chosen the common theme
“Aiming to be a solid global company.” We are further
improving precision technology cultivated through our
watch business, which could also be regarded as
“craftsmanship.” In addition, we put a lot of effort into
adoption and development of human resources that
utilize good communication skills in global markets and
work actively in parallel with overseas companies in order
to enhance global competitiveness. Our head office is
located in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, which
is at the foot of Mt. Fuji. In this excellent environment with

Citizen Electronics developed the world’s first
surface-mounted type chip LED in 1983 and has
always led the LED industry. We developed the
COB-type high-wattage LED, which has been a
standard of LEDs for lighting in recent years, ahead
of the industry, and have made significant
achievements. Social demands and market needs,
such as energy saving and conservation of the
global environment, focusing on lighting LEDs have
been expanding further. Utilizing technology
cultivated in the long history of LED development,
we produce lights for the world as a leading
company in LEDs.

Citizen Electronics’ switches have achieved a small
and thin form by formation of dense and
high-accuracy circuits. They are used in a lot of
mobile terminals as their characteristics, such as a
good feeling ’click,’ long service life, waterproofness
and being dustproof, are greatly appreciated. We
developed the world’s first illuminated switches
combining a switch and an LED in a single
package, and the products contribute to a reduction
in the number of parts and consequently man-hours.
