本誌はガスアズインターフェイス株式会社
が発行するフリーペーパーであり、同社が
運営する Calm & Punk Gallery からその
名を取りました。Calm（静寂）と Punk（パ
ンク）という相反する言葉の意味を包括し
ている国、日本。現在世界中から注目を集
めている日本ですが、グラフィックアート
の分野においてはまだまだ世界に向けて発
信されている情報が少ないのが現状です。
このフリーペーパーでは素晴らしい才能あ
ふれる日本人アーティストの作品を紹介す
ると共にガスアズインターフェイスの最新
の活動についてご案内していきます。
Calm & Punk est un magazine gratuit publié par
Gas As Interface S.A.. Il porte une partie du
nom de la galerie gérée par ce dernier, “Calm
& Punk Gallery”. Le Japon est un pays qui
inclue deux différents aspects représentés par
ces mots, calm (calme) et punk. Aujourdʼ hui, le
pays attire lʼattention du monde entier dans
beaucoup de domaines, cependant,
lʼ information sur le graphisme du Japon nʼest
pas encore tout à fait disponible dans le reste
du monde. Ce gratuit présentera des ouvrages
des artistes japonais de talent, ainsi que les
dernières activités de Gas As Interface.
Calm & Punk is a flyer released by Gas As
Interface Co., Ltd., named after Calm &
Punk Gallery that the company runs. Japan
is a country that embraces the
contradiction between Calmness and
Punkness and draws a lot of attention from
all over the world. However, little information
we think is revealed to the world when it
comes to the field of graphical art. Calm &
Punk introduces you some of the
exceptional and talented Japanese artists,
as well as the latest activities brought
forward by Gas As Interface.

8 鉄道ムードのカレーの店　ナイアガラ 8
「発車！」グリーン席に腰かけ食券ならぬ切符を
手渡せば、駅長の大きなかけ声。じきにカレー
の香りが鼻まで届く。全方向スペクタクルな店内
をきょろきょろ見回している内、時刻表どおりとで
もいうべく、カレーを積んだ機関車が目的地に到
着した。
鉄道とカレー。一見バラバラなこれらは、内藤駅
長のとある記憶の中で同期する。戦時中、疎開
前夜に食べ、脳に刺さる程の味だったという母の
カレー。疎開先から毎日の様に眺めていた故郷
行の機関車。 2 本のレールのように 40 年以上真
面目にカレーと鉄道の事だけ考え続けてきた。
マニア向の自慢ではなく一般客も置いていかない
あくまで謙虚な姿勢が、この店を元祖テーマパー
クレストランに昇華させている。
8 Niagara, ou restaurant curry au chemin de fer 8
« Attention au depart ! » Assoyez-vous et présentez votre titre de
transport (et non pas le ticket restaurant) au chef de gare. Le cri du
chef résonnera toute la maison. Aussitôt, le parfum du curry
chatouillera votre nez. Et l’instant que vous êtes surmergé dans les
spectacles tous azimuts de ce restaurant, la locomotive arrive à sa
déstination, à temps.
Le chemin de fer et le curry : ça ne vont pas ensemble au premier
regard. Mais dans une mémoire de Monsieur Naito, le chef de gare,
ces deux synchronisent. La veille de son évacuation à la campagne
suite de la deuxième guerre mondiale, sa mère lui a cuisiné un plat
du curry, dont le goût a laissé une profonde trace dans son esprit. En
campagne, il a observé presque tous les jours les locomotives qui
partent pour sa ville natale. Comme la paire de rails qui avancent en
parallèle l’un au coté de l’autre, il ne pense que du curry et du
chemin de fer depuis plus de 40 ans. Sa posture humbre, qui
accueille non seulement les amateurs du chemin de fer, mais aussi
les néophites rend cette adresse un des originateurs du restaurant –
parc d’attraction.

“All aboard!” Sit back on a first class seat and hand over the travel
ticket (and not a meal coupon). The stationmaster’s call echoes
loudly and it won’t take long before the spicy perfume of curry
reaches your nose. While you are curiously looking around this
joint with multi-directional spectacles, the locomotive gets to its
destination, in time.
Railway and curry. Apparently, they don’t have anything in
common, but are synchronized in the memory of Mr. Naito, the
stationmaster. His mother cooked him a dish of curry the night
before he evacuated from his hometown for safety during the
World War II. The taste of that curry, he remembers, stack in this
brain. With that kind of state of mind, once in countryside, he
watched almost everyday locomotives departing for his hometown.
Like a pair of rails that run parallel to each other, for more than 40
years ever since, he has been thinking about nothing but curry and
railway. His humble posture that welcomes everyone, and not only
initiated train-spotters, makes this restaurant an originator of
so-called “theme park restaurant”.

To commemorate 80th anniversary of Osamu
Tezuka, mangaka of international fame, Gas
as Interface collaborates with Tezuka
Production to launch a new brand, Tezuka
Osamu by Gasbook, that interconnects next
generation creators and Tezuka's works.
In this project, the young creators reinterpret
the works and messages that Tezuka has left,
and will deploy the outcomes to
accommodate the needs of any interested
third parties, such as manufacturers and retail
stores.
Ten groups of creators have participated for
the project launch.
They will be followed by a variety of other new
creators, who are expected to renew Tezuka's
masterpieces with fresh interpretations.
