～なぎさとニュージーランドの生徒たちが繋ぎ合う、成長への夢と絆～ Ⅰ ＮＺオツモエタイ高校生 8 名の本校への受け入れ（実施日：2016 年 7 月 2 日～7 月 10 日） Ⅱ なぎさ生徒 25 名のオツモエタイ高校への訪問（実施日：2016 年 7 月 25 日～8 月 13 日） Ⅰ ＮＺオツモエタイ高校生 8 名の本校への受け入れ このプログラムは、今年で２年目を迎えます。 世界の様々な高校と交流を持つオツモエタイ高校ですが、今年も本校に訪れたいという強い希望 により受け入れが実現しました。目的は、ホームステイや学校生活を通して日本文化を体得するた めです。 本校の生徒にとっても、オツモエタイ高校の生徒と交流するなかで、自己や自国の価値観との違 いに気付くことはとても有意義なことです。互いの価値観などを共有し合える関係を築き、真の国 際性を身に付けることができました。 【国際部を中心とする生徒達の交流会】 放課後、国際部や留学経験のある生徒が集まって、オツモエタイ高校との交流会が開かれました。 お互いの学校紹介や自国の文化紹介、自己紹介の後は、グループ活動に。クイズ、折り紙、けん玉 などを体験するうちに、次第に笑顔で語り合っていました。 【創造国際での料理体験】 ４年生の授業での餃子作りに参加しました。英語レシピは理解できても、包むのは初めてだった ようで苦戦していました。本校生徒のヘルプもあり何とか完成。最後は一緒に「いただきます」。 【書道や華道の体験】 放課後、クラブの生徒と一緒に書道と華道を体験しました。講師の先生の指導のもと、真剣に取 り組んでいます。最後には素晴らしい作品が完成しました。 【宮島・平和公園訪問】 本校のボランティアガイドの生徒 16 人と宮島と平和公園へ行きました。オツモエタイの生徒達 は積極的に疑問に思ったことを質問し、問答することで理解を深めていました。本校の生徒は自分 たちで知っていることや調べたことを一生懸命英語で伝えていました。 【教員・生徒の声】 ○OtumoetaiCollege 引率教員 Mr.Hansen より I have always had an interest in Japan and Japanese culture and it was my real pleasure to visit Hiroshima and Nagisa High School in July. The students were fantastic to interact with and they are a credit to their families and your wonderful school. All of the staff at Nagisa were so caring and helpful; they made the trip a lot of fun and very educational for me and the Otumoetai students. I loved my brief stay in Hiroshima and I have started planning to bring my wife and children to your wonderful country. I strongly believe that the exchange programme between Nagisa and Otumoetai strengthens the bonds between people and builds a culture of understanding, inclusiveness and peace that benefits Japan and New Zealand. Thank you so much for my time in your beautiful city and I can’t wait to come back. ○OtumoetaiCollege 生徒代表 Matthew Gamman より My time at Nagisa High School was exciting, fun and enjoyable. While I was on the school exchange I learnt so much about the Japanese culture, history and food, it was awesome. Nagisa High School is very clean and pleasant; the teachers are very respectful and the students are great to be around. My overall experience of the exchange was incredible and I hope to revisit Japan in the future. ○広島のホストファミリーとして ５年 木本実佑 Pauline, an exchange student from Otumoetai College, stayed with my family at the start of July. During the week she was here, we were able to both learn a lot about each other’s culture. What impressed me the most was her ability to assertively ask the questions on her mind and to frankly discuss her opinions. Pauline was surprised by Japan’s time–of-day greetings and the fact my family didn’t have the patriarchal family system that she had heard about. These things are common place to me, but though talking about the different things we noticed, our understanding of our cultures deepened. Pauline’s time in Japan might have been brief, connection relationship but can I hope help between our small bolster Japan the and New Zealand. Because of this experience, I would like to learn more about the culture and history of New Zealand and other countries in order to build strong bridges between Japan and the world. （今回、オツモエタイ高校からの留学生ポーリンをホームステイとして迎えました。一週間一緒に 過ごす中で、彼女だけでなく私自身も、それぞれの文化について深く考えることができました。私 が一番感銘を受けたのは、彼女は疑問に思ったことを積極的に尋ねたり、明確に自分の意見を伝え ることでした。また、ポーリンも時間帯によって日本の挨拶が異なることや、日本では父親が家庭 で主導権を握っていると思っていたのに今は変わってきていることなどに驚いていました。これら は自分にとっては当たり前のことでしたが、お互いが発見した気づきを教え合うことで、文化的な 学びを深めることができました。 ポーリンの日本での体験はほんの少しかもしれません。しかし、彼女の日本での経験が、数十年 後、日本とＮＺとの友好につながってほしいと願います。そして、私自身も、ＮＺはもちろん他国 の文化や歴史について学び、日本と他国の良い架け橋を築いていきたいと思います。） ○広島でのボランティアガイドとして ４年 藤田結衣 I worked as a volunteer to guide 8 students who came from ＮＺ around Hiroshima. It was a very tight schedule because I guided them to 2 places; both to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima in a single day, but I had a great time. Through this experience, I learned that the most important thing about conversation is not high verbal skills. It’s the will and the attitude of trying to communicate. It was so hard for me to catch what they said and to use words that we usually speak with. Yet, they were all ears to what we said from start to finish. Moreover, they used easy English words instead of difficult ones. And we also used gestures. For these reasons we could communicate effectively. To get over the language barrier, one’s effort and desire are the most important thing. Because of this realizations, it turned into a wonderful experience. （私はＮＺからの留学生８人に広島を紹介するガイドボランティアとして参加しました。一日で 平和公園と宮島を案内する、とても過密なスケジュールでしたが、充実した時間を過ごすことがで きました。今回の経験から、私はコミュニケーションを取る上で一番大切なことは、言語能 力では なく、伝えようとする意志や姿勢だということを学びました。彼らが話す英語を聞き取ったり、私 たちが話す言葉を英語で伝えたりすることは、とても大変でした。しかし、彼らは最後まで私たち の言葉に耳を傾けてくれました。また、分かりやすい英語に置き換えてくれました。そして、私た ちもジェスチャーを入れて話すことでコミュニケーションを成り立たせることができました。言語 の壁を乗り越えるためには、積極的に自分から働きかけることが大切だということを学べた良い機 会となりました。） Ⅱ なぎさ生徒 25 名のオツモエタイ高校への訪問（実施日：2016 年 7 月 25 日～8 月 13 日） このプログラムは、今年で 4 年目を迎えます。2 年生の交換留学先であるパサデナ中学校との大 きな違いは、大都市オークランドと違い、自然豊かかつ気候に恵まれ、リゾート地として有名なタ ウランガにある同校は、世界の様々な国からの生徒を受け入れるなど国際色豊かな学校であり、か つマオリ文化を始め文化を大切に育む学校です。 3 週間にわたるホームステイや特別授業を通して、語学力の向上を第一優先とし、ＮＺ独自の文 化や生活を体験する中で真の国際性の涵養を目指しています。 【生徒の声】 ○ＮＺ留学生のホストをつとめ、語学研修にも参加した生徒として ４年 倉本 結梨 For 10 days in early July, I hosted an exchange student from Otumoetai College, Sophie. out with my family and enjoyed some local foods, so that she was able to experience Japan. We went Her smile and cheerful nature helped us talk a lot, and I was able to talk more easily with other exchange students thanks to Sophie. It was sad to see her go back to New Zealand, but at the same time, I was excited to realise that I would be able to see her again in New Zealand soon. I went to New Zealand in late July and my life at Otumoetai College started smoothly because I had already had some exchanges with the students at Otumoetai. Other exchange students from our school felt the same and we all felt reassured that we had someone to ask for help on our first day. I quickly became friends with my buddy Sharna, and it led me to communicate a lot with her friends. At first, I was nervous to talk to my host family, the Evans family, but gradually my communication with them improved. I strongly remember they taught me that saying “Thank you” or “Please” aloud is a part of good manners, even in a close relationship. My stay in New Zealand went so quickly thanks to my host family, my buddy and the exchange students who gave me cheerful and warm hospitality. People at Otumoetai College and in New Zealand are friendly and they often talked to us, though we were strangers. It was hard to say good bye on the day we left New Zealand and I truly felt I wanted to stay longer. I now understand how enjoyable and wonderful it is to communicate with various people. Since I participated in the Pasadena exchange program in New Zealand two years ago, I have been thinking to get a job in which I would be able to communicate with people from various countries in the future, and this trip made me feel even stronger and clearer about my future. （私は、７月上旬にＮＺ、オツモエタイ高校からの 留学生ソフィーのホストとして１０日間共に過ごしました。家族で出かけ郷土料理を食べるなど、 日本を感じてもらえるようもてなしました。彼女の明るさや笑顔に助けられ、沢山話すこともでき たし、彼女を通じて他の留学生達とも気軽に話せるようになりました。だから、彼女達が帰国する 時は、寂しいけれどむしろまたすぐにＮＺで会えるというワクワク感の方が大きかったです。７月 末にＮＺに渡り、オツモエタイカレッジでの生活へは、事前に交流があったことで、スムーズに入 ることができました。他の留学生達の存在も同様で、登校初日から学内で気軽に声を掛け合える人 がいるというのは心強かったです。バディーのシャーナとすぐに打ち解け、彼女の友達とも上手く コミュニケーションをとれた事にも繋がったと思います。ホストファミリーのエバンズさんとの生 活も、最初こそ緊張して上手く話せませんでしたが、徐々に上手くコミュニケーションをとって行 くことができました。近しい間柄においても敬意や感謝（thank you・please）を表す言葉は必ず 口に出すのが礼儀・マナーだと教えてもらったことは強く印象に残っています。この様に、私のＮ Ｚでの滞在はホストファミリー、バディー、留学生達がいつも明るく、温かく接してくれたおかげ で、３週間が本当に短く感じられました。ＮＺ、オツモエタイカレッジの人達はフレンドリーで見 ず知らずの日本人の私たちにも気軽に声をかけてくれました。ＮＺを発つ日には、別れがつらくま だまだここにいたいと強く思いました 今、思うことは、いろんな人と接することの楽しさ、素晴らしさです。中学２年生の時、同じく ＮＺのパサデナ中学との交換留学に参加して以来、日本で色んな国々の人と接したり、関わってい ける仕事につきたいと考えている私とって今回のＮＺ語学研修は、その思いをより一層強く、明確 にするものとなりました。）
