●Brief Bio
Ryoko is a professional bilingual communicator (Bilingual voice over, MC,
announce, translation) nearly for 20 years. Now she still serves as bilingual
communicator in a lot of global conference, book translation, bilingual voice
over, she also active in organize the connection between Hawaii and Japan
to develop new business opportunities and relationships.
She first visited Molokai Island in 1999 and fascinated in its people,
untouched nature, and the unchanged ancient culture that exists nowadays.
At that time there were no information about the island of Molokai in
Japanese among there were (and still are) tons of thousands of various information about other islands. So she
started to provide Molokai Island information through her website in 2001, asked and had permission from
Molokai Visitors Associations and Molokai local newspaper The Dispatch to translate their website into
Japanese.
At the same time she was attracted to the local artists who create lovely and high skilled merchandise. She
opened Handmade Hawaiian Gift store in 2002 in Tokyo to introduce only Handmade products made on Hawaii.
Until she close her store in 2009 due to severe downturn of the Japanese economics, she expand her
relationships with local artists and companies.
Ryoko’s interests to Hawaii has not vanished even she closed her handmade gift store, she became even more
enthusiastic to understand about the culture, people, heritage, and legends of Hawaii and her bilingual skill
led her to become one of the leading expert to support communications between Hawaii and Japan, and to
translate local information into Japanese.
Ryoko started to acquire translation permission into Japanese for the Hawaii related book, now she is in the
process of translating “Hawaiian Oracle” by Dr.Rima Morrell, and “Lost Kingdom” by Julia Flynn Siler, “The
Seven Dawns of the Aumakua” by Moke Kupihea, “Facing Future of IZ” by Don Kois. These books will be
available in Japanese edition in the near future.
Ryoko also established “Japan-Hawaii Cultural Economic Relations Association (JHCERA)”
in 2012 to make
a stronger bonds between Hawaii and Japan. Now she contribute to create and support the Hawaiian Festival
events in Japan, organize to connect business opportunities, cultural exchange program in both countries.She
also plays an active part in as an interpreter for musicians from Hawaii, to name a few, she took her part
an media interview interpreter for HAPA, Bruce Shimabukuro, Nathan Aweau, Old Lahaina Luau.

As a president of Lokahi Creations company limited Japan, and the Vice Chairman of Japan-Hawaii Cultural
Economic Relations Association, she will continue to serve as bilingual communicator between Hawaii and
Japan and her mission is to support to create the stronger relationships.

２０年にわたり、日英バイリンガルコミュニケーターとして活動。バイリンガル司会、ナレーション、アナウンス、
翻訳、通訳など多岐にわたる現場で活躍。現在も現役でバイリンガルコミュニケーターとして活動しながら、ロカ
ヒクリエーションズ代表、日本ハワイ経済文化交流協会の副理事として日本とハワイを繋ぐプロジェクトコーディ
ネーターとしての活動を続けている。
1999 年に初めて、ハワイ諸島の中で最もハワイアンな島と呼ばれるモロカイ島を訪問。そこに眠る、古代ハワイか
らの叡智、人々のシンプルな暮らし、文化、手付かずの自然に触れ、自らが知っているハワイとは違う本当のハワ
イの姿がそこにあることに感銘を受ける。当時、日本語でモロカイ島に関する情報を入手することがほとんどでき
なかったため、2001 年、モロカイ島観光協会、モロカイ島のローカル新聞社 The Dispatch の許可を得て、それぞれ
から発信される情報や WEB サイトを日本語化し、モロカイ島の日本語サイトを立ち上げる。
同時に、バイリンガルコミュニケーターとして行き来をしていたハワイで、ハワイ在住のローカルアーティストた
ちとの出会いがあり、2000 年よりオンラインショッピングにてハンドメイド雑貨を販売、2002 年には東京･吉祥寺
にハンドメイドハワイアンギフトショップ Love MAUI をオープン。その後、店名を Aloha Crafts に変えて運営を続
けるが 2009 年、ショップをクローズする。その後、ショップ運営時代に培ってきたネットワークを使って、より深
くハワイと関わることを決意。バイリンガルコミュニケーターとしての能力をフルに活用しながら、日本とハワイ
を経済、文化と言う観点から繋ぐためのプロジェクトコーディネーターとして、ハワイ書籍の日本語版翻訳、ビジ
ネス展開のサポート、イベントサポートなどを行う。日本国内におけるハワイアンイベントのサポートだけではな
く、両国におけるビジネス展開のサポート、ハワイ撮影の協力などよりしっかりとした基盤で活動を広げるように
なる。その傍らで、ハワイから日本に来日するミュージシャンやアーティストたちの通訳も担当する。バイリンガ
ルコミュニケーターとして日本とハワイをつなぐ活動を基盤に、さらにその輪、ネットワークを広げている。
年表
３月２１日生まれ。Ａ型。おひつじ座。高校生のときに始めて渡米。ホームステイ。
すっかりアメリカナイズされ、能天気で楽天的な本能が芽生えた。
桜美林大学卒業。アナウンスアカデミー修了。卒業後、フリーでナレーションの仕事を始める。
途中、アイダホ州のツアーの仕事、キャンプイベントの企画、通訳、建築企画事務所で派遣社員、外資系企業で翻訳の派遣社員、など
も経験。コミュニケーション講座のインストラクターの経験などもこの時代に修行を積む。
1995 年頃からバイリンガル MC としての仕事をメインに活動。
1999 年、休暇で訪れたモロカイ島。運命的で必然の出会い。島で出会った青年との間に子供を授かり２０００年ミレニウムベビーを
日本で出産。未婚のお母さんとして、日本で子育て開始。
2000 年、子育て休暇中の合間に、ハワイアン雑貨のネットショップ、モロカイ島情報サイトを始動。
2003 年、吉祥寺にハワイアン雑貨ショップオープン。
2008 年冬。会社設立。
2008 年、ショップ移転。広くなったスペースで、雑貨販売、ワークショップ、モロカイ島情報提供、と活動の幅を広げる。
2009 年秋、翻訳、モロカイツアーにしばらくパワーを注ぐべく、吉祥寺ショップを一旦お休み。
2012 年、初の翻訳本『レムリア、アトランティス、アヴァロンへの旅』（アールズ出版）発売
2012 年、日本ハワイ文化経済交流協会（JHCERA）設立。日本とハワイを繋ぐためのプロジェクトを企画、立案、推進。
2013 年、２作目翻訳本『マーメイド・マジック』発売（アールズ出版）
2015 年、3 作目翻訳本『魔女の手引き』発売（アールズ出版）、米国人パートナーと共に新会社アロハスファミリー設立
バイリンガルコミュニケーターとして、バイリンガル MC/通訳業をこなしながら、日本とハワイを繋ぐプロジェクトコーディネータ
ーとして活動中。
