The hammer-shaped Chodo no Kashira is a popular symbol of this range. Happu, this campsite is equipped with cooking facilities and flushing toilets. 小根山森林公園 43種類におよぶ外国 産樹種や日本各地の 有用樹種が植えられ た91ヘクタールの国 有林が公園として開 放されています。園内 には 「スズカケのみち」 「ケヤキのみち」 「百年 杉のみち」などの遊歩 道、鳥獣資料館、野鳥 観察小屋、 展望台など が整備されています。 Oneyama Shinrin-koen 43 varieties of trees thrive in this forest park that also provides walking and hiking trails, a wild fowl archives, bird-watching sites and an observation tower. 安中市総合観光ガイド 3 めがね橋 明治25年に完成した煉瓦造り4連 アーチ式の鉄道橋で、近代化遺産 として保存されています。 緑に映え る赤い煉瓦のアーチが美しく、 多く の人を魅了しています。 撮影スポッ トとしても最適です。 Megane-bashi This brick bridge, with its 4 large arches that gives it a unique appearance similar to a pair of eyeglasses, was completed in 1892 and is preserved today as a legacy to modern construction. 歴 史 アプトの道（遊歩道） 旧丸山変電所 碓氷峠鉄道文化むら 信越本線アプト式鉄道時代の廃線跡の約 ５㎞（横川駅からめがね橋の間）を遊歩道 として整備し、 碓氷峠の自然とめがね橋を はじめとする鉄道遺産にふれることがで きます。 国鉄が全国で初めて建設した変電 所。明治45年（1912）に建てられ た純レンガ造りの建物は、鉄道の 歴史を今に伝えています。 Abt no michi (Walking trail) This is the first electrical booster station constructed in Japan by the National Railway. Construction on this red brick building was completed in 1912 and serves today to keep us in touch with the glorious history of railroads in Japan. 碓氷峠の鉄道の歴史を音や映像で、 ジオラマなどで展示する 鉄道資料館、碓氷峠専用機関車などを展示する鉄道資料館、 野外展示ゾーンには旧国鉄時代からの蒸気機関車や電気機 関車などがずらりと並んでいます。 アプトの道のスタート地点 となっています。 また峠の湯までを結ぶトロッコ列車（冬季運 休） の出発駅として、 碓氷峠の玄関口となる施設です。 A walking trail is maintained along a 5-km span of the dead tracks from the Abt System Era of the Shin’etsu Main Line. Strollers can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of the Usui Pass as well as the Megane-bashi (Eyeglasses Bridge) and other railway legacies. Maruyama Substation Usui touge tetsudou bunkamura This is a theme park to study history of the railway that crosses the Usui Pass. Visitors can examine steam locomotives from the now-defunct Japan National Railway on the grounds. 多くの旅人が歩いた街道の面影と 上信越を結んだアプト式鉄道の道 The vestiges of ancient highways and the rack railway. 江 戸を起 点とする5 街道の一つ中山道。 東 海 道とともに江戸と京都を結ぶ重要な街道でした。 安 中 市には、板鼻、安中、松井田、坂本の４宿が置かれ 、 参 勤 交 代の大名行列や、峠を越える旅人でにぎわいました。 碓 氷 関 所 跡や茶屋本陣などから当時の面影が偲べます。 碓 氷 峠を越えるアプト式鉄道が建設されたのは明治2 6 年。 廃 線となった碓氷線の鉄路は、アプトの道として整備されています。 H i s t o r y 4 安中 美しき郷 The Nakasen-do, one of the 5 major highways during the Edo Period. 4 post towns were built in Itabana, Annaka, Matsuida and Sakamoto. The Abt system (rack) railway that crossed the Usui Pass was constructed in 1893. The railway was closed and is now maintained as the Abt Road. 五料茶屋本陣 五料の代々名主を務めた旧家・中島家で、 諸大名や公家の休息所となっていま した。 「お西」 と 「お東」 と呼ばれる二つの切妻造りの建物が隣り合っています。 いずれも県史跡に指定され、 往時のままに復元されて一般公開されています。 板鼻本陣跡（皇女和宮御宿泊所） 旧安中藩郡奉行役宅 板鼻宿には光明天皇の妹・和宮が宿泊した部屋が 残されています。幕末、公武合体のために徳川家に 嫁ぐため中山道で江戸に向かった和宮が宿泊した のです。部屋には当時の資料が展示されています。 徳川家譜代の大名が統治していた安中城。その名残 として城内の大名小路沿いには旧安中藩郡奉行役 宅が復元されています。母屋の造りは曲がり屋と呼 ばれ、公的空間と私的空間が区別されています。 The remains of the Itahana Honjin The remains of the Annaka-han Koribugyo Residence According to accounts written Princess Kazunomiya, a sister of Emperor Komyo, styaed at this guesthouse on the way to Edo to marry into the Tokugawa Shogun. This building is a reproduction of the Annaka Regional Magistrate’s residence. The structural style of the main building is called “magari-ya”. Goryou Chaya Honjin 旧街道の面影 Throughout the years of entertaining emperors and nobles, this house has been managed by a number of famous restaurateurs. The two neighboring buildings are called “Onishi” and “Ohigashi”. JR信越本線 18 板鼻本陣跡 安中駅 運動公園 旧碓氷郡役所 18 新島襄旧宅 同志社大学設立の祖、新島襄は安中藩江戸上屋敷の生 まれ。21歳のときに函館よりひそかにアメリカに渡りま した。 明治維新により江戸詰めの藩士が安中に引きあげ る際、藩士のために一軒屋４棟、長屋12棟を建てたこと が、 「新邸」 の地名の由来です。 Niijima Jo Family Home 日本キリスト教団 安中教会 旧安中藩郡奉行役宅 日本キリスト教団安中教会 明治11年に日本人の手によって創立された日本初 の教会です。大正８年、教会創立の中心になった新島 襄召天30年を記念して新島襄記念会堂が建てられ ました。内部の礼拝堂にはステンドグラスが当時の まま現存しています。 United Church of Christ in Japan, Annaka Church This church was the first church of its kind constructed entirely by Japanese craftsmen in1878. The stained glass in the chapel has been maintained in its original condition. 新島襄旧宅 旧安中藩武家長屋 原市の杉並木 旧碓氷社本社事務所 磯部駅 Niijima Jo, the founder of the Doshisha University, was born in the Kamiyashiki residential complex of the Annaka Clan in Edo (now Tokyo). When Niijima was 21, he went to the United States to learn. As a result of the Meiji Restoration the representatives from the Annaka Clan moved from Tokyo back to their domain in Annaka where they constructed 4 individual dwelling places and 12 apartments in the district now called Shintei (New Residence). 18 旧碓氷郡役所 明治11年に「郡区編成法」により碓氷郡役所が開庁 しました。現存する建物は明治44年に建てられたも のです。郡役所廃止後は農業会などが使用していま した。 現在は、 地方自治の歴史を示す貴重な建物とし て改修され、一般公開されています。 碓氷川 JR信越本線 18 The remains of the Usui Magistrate’s office This building was constructed in 1911, and is open to the public as a sample of architecture of the times and as an archive dealing with the history of our local autonomy. 松井田駅 西松井田駅 碓氷関所跡 1623年に徳川幕府により現在地に移設され、明治2年 に廃関されるまで、関東入国の関門として「入鉄砲と出 女」を監視しました。復元された関所跡には関所資料館 も建てられ当時の資料が展示されています。安政遠足 が行われる日には碓氷関所まつりが開催されます。 The remain of Usui Seki-sho 碓氷川 18 上信越自動車道 旧碓氷社本社事務所 五料茶屋 明治38年に建てられた近代和風の代表的建物で す。基本的には和風ですが、窓ガラスはフランス製の 板ガラスを用いるなど洋風の材料・技術を各所に採 用しています。 It is established in 1623 by Tokugawa Shogunate to check for weapons to be brought in and for pople to go out. The remains of the Usui Company Headquarters This modern Japanese building, constructed in1905, is noted for its unique western touch through the utilization of windows made in France. 18 釜飯おぎのや 碓氷関所跡 横川駅 18 鉄道文化むら 旧安中藩武家長屋 郡奉行役宅と道をはさんで武家屋敷が復元されていま す。茅葺きの長屋が並んだ敷地内には井戸も掘られ、往 時の暮らしぶりを偲ぶことができます。 The old Annaka-han Buke Nagaya This is a reproduction of a apartment house of the domain lords of the old Annaka clan. Visitors can get a feeling for how life may have been during the Edo period in this area. 原市杉並木 中山道には約1kmにわたり杉が 植えられていました。現在も樹 齢300年とも400年ともいわれ る杉が堂々とそびえ、当時の中 山道の面影を伝えています。 上信越自動車道 くつろぎの郷 峠の湯 The Haraichi Cedar Rows A row of Japanese cedars approximately 1 k m long was planted along the Nakasen-do to provide shade and a cool respite for weary travelers. From early February through mid-March each year the hills turn yellow when the plants are in bloom. 山吹の郷 15,000㎡の敷地に約5,000本の山吹が 咲き誇り、開花時期には「山吹まつり」が開 催されます。歴史と物づくりを体験する施 設は学習と憩いの場として楽しめます。 Yamabuki no Sato The “Japanese Yellow Rose” festival is held when the 5,000 Japanese rose bushes planted over an area of 15,000 m2 bloom. 群馬フラワーハイランド 寒紅梅、 しだれ桜、水仙、 ツツジ、その他さまざまな花が咲き乱れ、訪れる 人々を楽しませてくれます。 Gunma Flower Highland This park attracts many visitors when flowering season of cherry trees, shidare-zakura (Prunus pendulai), winter plum trees, daffodils and azaleas. 観梅公園 秋間梅林にある観梅公園では約2,000株の寒咲きあやめ、 約4,000㎡のポピー(ひなげし)や、 約7,000株のラベンダー が早春から初夏にかけて咲き誇ります。 Kanbai Park At the Kanbai park in Akima Bairin (Akima Plum Forest) about 2,000 winter Irises, poppies covering 4,000m2 field and 7,000 roots of lavender will be in all glory from early spring through early summer. ロウバイ ろうばいの郷には3.2haの敷地に約1200株、 12,000本が あり、 12月下旬から２月中旬、 透明感のある蝋細工(ろうざい く)のような梅に似た花を咲かせます。 満開になるとあたり一 面に甘い香りを漂わせます。 Robai In Robai-no-Sato park, about 12,000 “robai” (Winter sweet) trees bloom from late December to late February over an area of 3.2 ha. 安中市総合観光ガイド 7 温 泉 磯部温泉薬師 磯部温泉創業以前よりこの地に在り、地元の住民から信 仰が厚く、年中行事として節分厄払い豆まき、磯部温泉祭 の一環として燈籠行列や燈籠流しが行われます。 Isobe Spa Yakushi Prior to the establishment of the Isobe Spa, local people worshiped at the local Yakushi deity. 温泉記号発祥の地 万治四年 （1661） の絵図に描かれていた磯部温泉を示す 記号は、現在の温泉記号によく似ています。専門家が調査 した結果、 この温泉記号は日本で使われた最古のものと 判明。 磯部公園には温泉記号が刻まれた石碑があります。 The origin of the hot springs classification symbol ? H o t The Japanese symbol for “hot springs” was first noted on a map prepared in 1661 in a location indicating the Isobe Hot Springs. An engraving of this symbol can be found on a stone in the Isobe Park. There are a number of cultural monuments located in the Isobe Park. 恵みの湯(磯部温泉) 男女の大浴場、 露天風呂のほかに、 ミネラルをたっぷり含んだ砂塩風呂があり ます。 身体に障害のある人にも利用しやすいよう配慮された建物は、 子どもか らお年寄りまで誰にもやさしい天然温泉の施設です。 Megumi no yu This popular hot springs offers large baths for men and women, as well as outdoor bathing facilities, and the mineral-rich Sunajio (sand-salts) Bath. The facilities at this natural spa are all barrier-free. 砂塩風呂 サラサラの砂塩に約15分入ると全身から汗が 吹き出します。全身の血行を促し、新陳代謝も 活発になります。 Sunajio Bath The grainy sand salts are said to be good for blood circulation and for restoring metabolism. 若山牧水歌碑 Wakayama Bokusui monument 金湯館 足湯 気軽に温泉気分が味わえる足湯。 10分も浸かれば体の芯からポカ ポカに温まります。 Ashi-yu (foot baths) きりづみ館 霧積温泉 ひなびた情緒が漂う秘湯の宿。明治の中頃は多数の 別荘や商店などが開業し、明治の政界人・文士・外人 などに愛された秘湯です。温泉は、無色透明で肌ざわ りのよい39℃の温泉です。 大手拓次の碑 Ote Takuji monument Letting your feet soak in the warm water of the footbaths can warm the entire body. 日帰り湯 Kirizumi Hot Springs During the mid-Meiji era this secluded hot springs resort facility was especially popular among politicians, literary figures, and foreign residents of Japan. The pleasant waters of the hot springs are transparent and colorless and maintain a temperature of 39 degrees. 峠の湯 碓氷峠の森公園内にある交流館「峠の湯」は、裏妙義 の山並みやアプトの道を見晴らしながら温泉を楽し めます。和風と洋風の大浴場と露天風呂があり、男女 交代で楽しめます。近くにはログハウスのコテージや 農村体験ができる農園もあり、 日常を離れたくつろぎ の時間をすごせます。 Toge no yu This bath is located on the grounds of the Mori Park on the Usui Toge (Pass). Bathers can enjoy views of the peaks behind the craggy Mt. Myogi Range. The “Ansei toashi”, a marathon race where runners wear a variety of funny costumes and the “Annaka nakajuku no toro ningyo” doll festival are truly unforgettable events for those visiting Annaka. 安政遠足の碑 安政２年（1855）、安中藩主板倉勝明が 藩士の心身鍛錬のために、 安中城門から 碓氷峠の熊野権現までの約29kmを競争 させました。 この安政遠足が、 日本最古の マラソンと言われています。 Ansei no toashi monument In 1855, in order to strengthen both the spirits and bodies of his soldiers, the feudal lord of Annaka organized a competition in which the soldiers would run from the gate of Annaka Castle to the Kumano Gongen on the Usui Pass. A number of attractions are held beneath the plum blossoms. 安中中宿の燈籠人形 中宿に伝承されてきた農民芸能で、 内部に回転式の小さなカンテラを 装着した和紙で作った人形を糸で 操ります。村の鎮守諏訪神社の例大 祭に行われていました。 国の重要無 形民俗文化財に指定されています。 “Annaka Nakajuku no Toro Ningyo” This is a performance of “washi” (Japanese paper) marionettes made with built-in spinning lanterns. The performance is a nationally designated important intangible folklore cultural asset. 八城の人形浄瑠璃 八城でだいだい引き継がれる人形芝居は、城若座の操 人形として知られている。 浄瑠璃の発展した義太夫と三 味線に合わせて演じる三人遣いの人形浄瑠璃である。 城若座で所蔵する人形・衣装はすぐれたものが多く、県 内でもすぐれた操人形です。 Yashiro no Ningyo Joruri This is a Japanese-type puppet play performed in accompaniment with gidayu narratives and the music of shamisen. Three people are required to operate each puppet. 灯籠流し 磯部温泉祭 磯部温泉祭のイベントのひとつとして行われます。 碓氷川の流れに灯籠の炎が映え、 幻想的な光景が広がります。 8月14〜16日の3日間に開催される伝統的な祭り。 温泉街や磯 部公園を舞台に子ども神輿や寄席などが行われます。碓氷川河 川敷での花火大会や灯籠流しは一見の価値があります。 Lantern Parade Isobe Onsen Festival During the Isobe Festival, floating lanterns are lit with candles in a mystical summer parade that floats along on the surface of the river. From August 14 to 16, this festival is held along the streets in town and on the grounds of the Isobe Park. It is available now at drive-ins near the foot of the Usui Pass. This traditional soy sauce is especially brewed using natural ingredients just as it has been for generations. The kama-meshi (“pot lunch” of rice, meat and vegetables cooked in small Mashikoyaki earthenware pots) have remained unchanged from the day it was first sold in 1958.
