［講師略歴］Mat Young is currently Fusion-io Products Group Senior Director where he manages the Application
Architect team and Data Propulsion Labs. In this role, Mr. Young is focused on driving adoption of ioMemory by
providing reference architectures, best practices and optimization for business applications. Mr. Young joined
Fusion-io as the first employee in EMEA in July 2009. After contributing to the initial establishment of Fusionio in the region, Mr. Young was responsible for marketing operations across EMEA. Having worked through the storage revolution
from DAS to SAN, and now solid state, Mr. Young has deep experience in utilizing infrastructure resources to deliver application
performance. Mr. Young began his career in IT in the late 1990s at Data General, where he worked with a range of products,
including the Clariion as it evolved from a seven disk SCSI DAS into part of the SAN revolution. After Data General, Mr. Young
spent several years at Microsoft in a number of roles starting in consultancy, working with enterprise and government accounts
around Microsoft applications and their integration with enterprise storage, to finally working for the product groups specializing in
storage related technologies in the Microsoft ecosystem.

了され DBA へと転身。VMS、Windows NT、AIX 環境の Oracle DBA として活躍したのち、ベンチマーク・エンジニアとして
Baan Development へ入社。そこで今度は、Oracle、SQL Server、Informix の Windows NT 環境での ERP ベンチマークに
携わっていた。Baan 退社後は、Compaq へ入社し、大規模 Oracle POC プロジェクトに参加。パフォーマンス・コンサルタント
として、世界各国を飛び回るようになる。HP との合併後、シアトルに世界中から集結された 6 人の SQL Server スペシャリスト
に選ばれ渡米。レドモンド（ワシントン州）にある Microsoft campus の HP Itanium Engineering group に参加し、TPC ベンチマーク、CPU と
Windows kerned driver パフォーマンスや HP の主要顧客に対してのサポートをしていた。

［講演概要］Every time Alex demonstrates charts he produces during IO benchmarks with ORION tool (Oracle I/O Numbers), he hears
"Wow! How do you build these?" In this session Alex will teach how to benchmark your storage subsystem and capacity and how to
stress test it to the limits. You will learn how easy it is to setup ORION benchmark and collect I/O performance characteristics of
your platform and assess scalability of small random I/Os, impact of writes on I/Operformance, impact of different RAID levels, how
backups can affect your OTLP traffic, performance of outer areas of disks vs inner areas, and compare SSD with HDD performance.

ever seen (to date, of course). This problem involved short, but extreme CPU utilization spikes, multiple Oracle database bugs and
an application server configuration issue. These issues all "acted" together, resulting in frequent service loss of a critical 24x7
