These valves require no power to maintain the valve in the open position. Power is required during the changing of state from open to closed or closed to open. The polarity of the current should also be reversed to change the state. (2) Duty cycle is the percentage of time that 5V can be applied to the valve without damage. (3) Maximum energising time is the maximum continuous length of time that 5V can be applied to the valve without damage. (4) Coil temperature increase indicates the heat rise in the valve coil when 5V is applied for the maximum energising time. (5) Energising time for the latching valves is the required time that voltage should be applied in order to change state.
