Information on Trevira Bioactive / Obligation to label treated articles according

to Art. 58 of Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012, as of 1 September 2013
Dear customers and partners,
This information concerns all customers who purchase Trevira Bioactive and/or Trevira CS Bioactive staple
fibre/filament yarn products which do contain an active substance (silver sodium zirconium hydrogenphosphate – CAS-# 265647-11-8). This inorganic silver additive is built into the fibre polymer (encapsulated
by the polymer matrix) in order to counter the settlement and growth of micro-organisms and the development of odour in/on the treated article (staple fibre/filament yarn).
Treated articles – containing one or several active substances and for which a biocidal property is claimed have to be labelled according to Art. 58 of Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012 on Biocidal Products. This labellst
ing requirement has to be met from 1 September 2013 onwards. Please find attached the labelling of
“Trevira Bioactive” and “Trevira CS Bioactive” fibre and filament products - just for your information - in
st
various European languages. We shall apply this lable on all packages of Trevira products from 1 September onwards. According to Art. 58 Paragraph 6 the labelling must be in the official language or
languages of the (EU) Member State of introduction.
If your company is also claiming a biocidal property for its products based on “Trevira Bioactive” or “Trevira

CS Bioactive”, you have the same obligation to label your “treated articles” from 1 September 2013
onwards.
