SAUSD English Grade 6 Holt Pacing Guide 2009-10
SAUSD ELA Pacing Guidelines:
 All activities within the pages listed under “Required Reading and Assignments” are required under the Holt Minimal Course of Study.
 Novels may be used to supplement standards instruction; however, classroom instruction should focus on covering the reading
standards with a variety of shorter texts.
 The SAUSD Pacing Guide and Curriculum Map covers the required minimal pacing. Teachers are free to accelerate or provide
enrichment activities according to the level of their classes. Teachers with honors/GATE students or classes with advanced ability
students should differentiate the core curriculum using depth, complexity, novelty (such as independent research) and acceleration of
content.
