Salem, Ore. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is revising their Resource Management Plans for western Oregon. In the coming months, the BLM will be looking closely at how they manage 2.5 million acres of public lands in western Oregon.

Salem, Ore. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is accepting project proposals for Title II funds under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000. Project proposals are due August 30, 2012. The Act provides funds to counties that traditionally have been supported by federal timber payments. Title II of the Act makes funds available for a variety of activities that benefit federally-managed lands and resources such as trail maintenance, road maintenance, watershed restoration, control of noxious weeds, and fire protection.

The BLM will remove a failing culvert and it will be constructing a bridge at the Coleman Creek crossing on the South Fork Alsea Access Road at milepost 5.78. The BLM Salem District manages 11 miles of the South Fork Alsea Access Road, with the remainder managed by Benton County. Come join the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the International Mountain Bike Association, Northwest Trail Alliance, and Ant Farm Youth Corps celebrate the Sandy Ridge Trail System. The Sandy Ridge System has been selected to help reach currently underserved populations and first-time visitors to public lands, and reconnect our youth to the great outdoors. In the morning, help the BLM and partners open up a new segment of trail to the public with a couple hours of volunteer trail work. Volunteers will be rewarded with the first opportunity to sample this new trail as they trade in tools for bikes in the afternoon. The event will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Sandy Ridge Trailhead.
