Lakeview, Ore - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Oregon Lakeview District has approved a decision for treating weeds using principles of integrated pest management within the Lakeview Resource Area. The decision affirms current best management practices for treating weeds including prevention, mechanical, chemical, and biological treatments. It also allows for use of 14 herbicides, expanding the current range of options for chemical control, consistent with national and state direction for use of herbicides on BLM managed lands.
Lakeview, Ore - In the last 24 hours South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership lands have been experiencing the first major lightning activity of June. By 12:00 pm this afternoon, there have been 15 reported wildfires started by the recent storms. The largest fire is the 2 acre Threes Creeks Fire on the Fremont-Winema National Forest. All other fires have remained small at 0.10 acre on lands managed by the Lakeview District of Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Fremont-Winema National Forest, and Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF). In addition, one lightning fire has been reported at Crater Lake National Park but it too has remained small in size.

The Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association and BLM's Lakeview District partnered to sponsor the contest, which is designed to educate and promote awareness around the importance of protecting special places from vandalism and keeping them litter-free.
