The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is requesting public nominations to fill six positions on the Steens Mountain Advisory Council (SMAC) that are either currently vacant or have a term ending in 2014. Nominations are being accepted for: -A person to represent statewide interests who has no financial interest in the Cooperative Management and Protection Area (CMPA). -A recognized environmental representative from the local area. -Two persons who are grazing permittees on Federal lands in the CMPA. -A person who participates in what is commonly called mechanized or consumptive recreation, such as hunting, fishing, off-road driving, etc. -A representative of the State government to serve as a liaison to the Advisory Council.
