PENSION NEWS The strength of Pensioners as at 30.9.2014 is as under: Regular Pensioners : Family Pensioners : TOTAL : 22723 4725 27448 LIFE CERTIFICATES Some changes are proposed in submission of Life Certificates by Ex-employee Pensioners/Family Pensioners. For details, kindly wait for our next issue. INCOME TAX Major highlights of changes in Income Tax for financial year 2014-15. 1) Basic exemption limit for resident individual tax payers increased. The revised limits are Resident individuals with age below 60 years Rs 2,50,000/Resident individuals with age above 60 years Rs 3,00,000/2) The deduction limit u/s 80 C : Rs 1,50,000/- 3) The deduction limit for interest on Housing Loan for self occupied property : Rs 2,00,000/- 4) Tax rebate of Rs 2000 u/s 87 of Income Tax in case of pensioners with taxable income less than Rs 5 lacs is extended during the current financial year also. Income Tax for the Financial Year 2014-15 is being deducted from the pension for the month of May 2014 onwards. The Pensioners who have already submitted the declaration for investments are advised to submit the proof of investments on or before 31.12.2014, wherever the same is not yet submitted. The validation of the proof of investments will be done on 21th January 2015 and hence, we will update the proof of investments received at our end up to 20th January 2015. Proof of investments received subsequently will not be accounted for Income Tax exemption. In case of non-receipt of proof of investments appropriate tax will be deducted during the month of January & February 2015.
