Welcome to the 2014 golf season. Our management team is committed to
providing the best experience possible to all Members and we look forward to
fulfilling that commitment at every opportunity.
Glen Abbey Golf Club is very excited to be introducing a concierge service for
2014. You and your guests will be treated to VIP service. Welcome gifts,
pregame warm-up options, special requests in food and beverage—we will go to
any length to make your and your guest’s day a day to remember. To inquire

Make 2014 the season to get more involved with our events and your fellow
Members! We have competitive and fun golf outings as well as social events for
everyone. In addition to the many events at our Club, there are several ClubLinkwide championships
and celebrity tournaments all season long. Check the
Club Calendar on our website for details. For current event information, please
regularly check our Club’s online calendar or speak to our golf professional staff.
The golf shop staff and I want to get to know every Member better this season. If
you are a new Member, take a minute to stop by and meet us. If you have been a
Member for a while, please drop in for a chat and let us know what’s new. We
look forward to the chance to play a round with all of our Members, so feel free to
ask!
We are very proud of the ClubLink Academy and TaylorMade Performance Lab
at our Club. Our PGA of Canada accredited golf professionals are more than
happy to work with you to improve your game and get more enjoyment out of
every round. New for 2014 is RoboGolfPro instruction technology. Glen Abbey
has been chosen to be the Canadian representative to unveil this technology.
With only four such robots in the world, this is a technology that we are proud to
have acquired for our membership. We also highly recommend that if you are
purchasing new golf clubs, that you get custom fitted. If you are not happy with
your existing set, maybe they are not the right fit for you or maybe it’s time to
replace them with the latest technology. We can give you our expert, trained
opinion.
We take great pride in our food and beverage service. Whether you are grabbing
a quick bite before or after golf or enjoying dinner with your family or friends, we
strive to make every meal memorable. You have many menu options, from our
“Best of ClubLink” selection to our own local specialties. And remember, our
clubhouse is the perfect setting for any special occasions or business gatherings
you may be planning.

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER
As the new golf season begins, I would like to welcome each of you to enjoy the
services provided by the Food and Beverage team. I encourage you to contact
Leigh Raynor, our Catering Sales Manager, for any events that you may have
coming up for the year, such as weddings, anniversaries or business meetings.
Whatever the occasion may be, we can assure you a hassle-free event.
Our Sunday Brunch is also a huge draw and would be a great way for the family
to meet up after your round! Our special-occasion brunches (Mother’s Day,
Father’s Day, Thanksgiving, etc.) are a great way to get the extended family
together for an outstanding meal in a pretty setting. Please be sure to book early
as these events are very popular and fill up quickly.
There is a great new menu for Eighteen Restaurant & Lounge that draws on local
food and will change seasonally throughout the season. This menu will showcase
Glen Abbey’s signature items along with many classic favourites. We are also
always available for take-out, so if you have to rush home after your round, we
will be happy to have your meal ready for you to take home.
Our wine lovers will see a perfect selection for their tastes in our new wine list.
We hope to see many of you out at our Member events, which we promise to
make events to remember. For information on any of these events, please check

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
Welcome back, Members!
Welcome back to what promises to be a great golf season at Glen Abbey. For
those of you I have not had the pleasure to meet, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Andrew Gyba, and I am the golf course superintendent here at Glen
Abbey. I would like to take this opportunity to update you all on staffing for the
2014 golf season, give a quick winter update and a brief overview of some
scheduled projects for 2014.
Firstly, I would like to welcome back Steve Spiers as the assistant
superintendent. Steve began his career with ClubLink at Eagle Ridge in 2005.
Through the years, he has worked his way up through the ranks, and has most
definitely proved his unwavering dedication and talented skill set.
Also returning for the 2014 season is Head Horticulturalist Jacky Miller. Jacky
began her career at Glen Abbey in 2009. Since then, she has committed herself
to creating the beautiful floral landscapes around the clubhouse area that we all
enjoy throughout the season.
Our new equipment manager for 2014 is John Kettles. John comes to us from
the automotive industry with a wealth of experience. We are excited to have John
join our team for 2014.
We have just experienced one of the most extreme winters in recent history.
Early ice cover and extreme cold combined for a very tough winter for the golf
course. Greens especially had a rough winter. We expect to open with
temporary greens but are hopeful to be back on our greens sometime between
May long weekend and the beginning of June. All we need now is cooperation
from Mother Nature!
As far as projects go, our main focus for 2014 will be our greens. We hope to
complete the player walkways on the valley bridges by late spring. We will also
be continuing with a lot of sodding around the course, focusing on tee and green
surrounds and high-profile areas. Also look for ongoing tree clearing on the 11th
tee. We will also be going throughout the entire property focusing on trees,
removing dead wood and damage sustained from our winter ice storms. Focus
will then turn to the implementation of our tree planting program.
Crabgrass eradication is also a focus for this season. I am aiming to treat the
infestation pre emergence. So if all goes well with control efforts, the membership
should not even see crabgrass on the tees and fairways this season.
We will also be increasing the frequency of cultural practices on the golf course
to help the overall condition of the course for the membership. As part of these
increased cultural practices, aerification will be introduced more than we normally
would with the expectation that this will help create a stronger plant and give us
the ability to create a truer faster surface.
Otherwise, we will try to be as unobtrusive as possible with the increased work,
especially after length and severity of the winter months.
In closing, I would like to say how much I am looking forward to 2014, and
working towards continually improving the golf course for the membership.

making all Members’ golfing experience and the Glen Abbey Member experience

All scorecards must be signed and attested. Submitting an incorrect
scorecard will result in disqualification.
All events will take place rain or shine. No exceptions will be made unless
the golf course is closed.
All rounds played in competition must adhere to the Golf Canada Rules of
Golf.
Each player must carry no more than 14 clubs. All clubs must conform to
Golf Canada guidelines.
In stroke-play competition, every ball must be holed out. (i.e., no mulligans
or gimmies)
If any decision is unclear on the golf course, play two balls and the rules
committee will judge accordingly. (The two-ball rule does not apply for
match-play competition).
The Golf Canada Rules of Golf will govern all play. The Handicap and/or
Captain’s Committee shall have the final decision on all claims and
disputes. The competition is deemed to have closed when the trophy has
been presented to the winner or, in the absence of a prize ceremony,
when all scores have been approved by the Committee.
Tournament entries must be received a minimum of 72 hours prior to the
event.
Handicap factors are frozen as of 72 hours prior to any event.
Guests playing in any event must provide a valid Golf Canada handicap
factor at least 72 hours prior to the event or they must play off a zero
course handicap.
MEN’S NIGHT
A qualifying event for the Men’s Night Championship
Men’s Night at Glen Abbey Golf Club runs over 21 weeks from the end of April to
the first week of October. With the help of chair Paul Ryce, the Men’s Night
program has been designed to encourage golfers of all skill levels to participate.
Each year, between 70 and 120 Members come out and join us.
Weekly net and gross competitions, proximity marker challenges, team formats
and the always exciting skins game allow the Glen Abbey membership to feel a
part of something special while getting to know their fellow Members.
Each week golf is followed up by a “unique” buffet dinner and prizing. Weekly
games and formats are cumulative allowing those who played well over the
course of the season to qualify for the Men’s Night Championship.

LADIES’ DAY/NIGHT
Ladies’ Day is led by Susan Burton, Asha Singh and Matt Okell. They have
developed a yearly point format much like the FedEx Cup on the PGA Tour—
points are awarded weekly for attendance and player performance.
Our program starts in early May and runs through the first week of September on
a weekly basis.
Although our group is small, we encourage all female Members to come out and
enjoy golf, camaraderie and a delicious dinner.

The Glen Abbey offers all services and technology to help you improve your
game. Our coaches have been recognized as the best in Ontario and Canada.

Payment Policy: Balance is due upon registration for program. Refunds will be paid in full minus a 25 per cent administrative fee for cancellations received up to 24
hours in advance of the clinic or lesson date. There will be no refund of fees for lessons or clinics cancelled within 24 hours of the lesson or clinic date. There are no
make-up sessions for clinic sessions or school sessions that are missed. Missed lessons may be rescheduled at the discretion of the instructor. We will need a
minimum of five participants for the clinics to be held. Participants will be contacted only if there are any problems.

COURSE CARE AND ETIQUETTE
Enjoying the game of golf is a shared experience. It is important to respect your
fellow Members and the course by always doing the following:
Please replace all divots with the displaced turf when possible; otherwise fill with
sand and seed that is provided on carts and par-3 tee decks.
Rake bunkers thoroughly.
Play “ready golf.” Know when it is your turn and be prepared to hit your shot.
Adhere to daily cart rules and the guidelines given to you at the first tee by the
starter.
Be aware of the time par for our course and communicate pace of play
expectations to your guests.
Fix ball marks correctly
Do not drive carts in fescue and avoid areas that have been roped or staked.
Carts must be FULLY on path near all tees and greens.
Cart Traffic Control Post Program
As you leave the tee on the cart path on all par-4 and par-5 holes (par-3s are
always cart path only), you will notice an entry post beside the path. As soon as
you have passed the entry post, please enter the fairway immediately and remain
on it until you see the exit post close to the green. Please exit the fairway as
close to the exit post as possible (not closer to the green) and return directly to
the cart path. Both entry and exit posts will be moved on a daily basis so the cart
traffic patterns can be monitored and resulting wear patterns minimized.
All Members and guests will be reminded of the Cart Traffic Control Post
Program by the starter and it will be monitored by course staff, including player
assistants. Your cooperation is anticipated and appreciated.
CLUB RULES AND MEMBER INFORMATION
All ClubLink policies are explained fully in the Members Only section of your Club
web site.
The following is for general reference only.
ALCOHOL SERVICE POLICY
Members and guests are strictly prohibited from bringing their own alcohol onto a
ClubLink property in accordance with all applicable liquor licensing regulations.
ClubLink's Responsible Alcohol Service policy is posted at each alcohol service
location and available for review. All alcohol service staff are fully trained in the
proper alcohol service techniques and are supported by management while
doing so. Any violation of these policies may result in suspension or termination
of membership.
CELLULAR PHONES/MOBILE DEVICES
Cell phones are permitted on ClubLink courses and in clubhouses. Members and
guests are encouraged to exercise discretion of use such that golfing/dining
experiences are not diminished for other Members and guests.
CHECK-IN
Members must check in at the golf shop prior to using the golf amenities at any
ClubLink Club, and must carry their membership card with them at all times.
Members must present their membership card when making any purchases on
their ClubLink account.
DRESS CODE
Appropriate golf attire must be worn at all times, both on the golf course and in
the clubhouse.
Appropriate golf course attire includes collared golf shirts, turtlenecks, or mockneck shirts and golf slacks or golf shorts. Shirts must be tucked in at all times
unless the style of the shirt dictates otherwise. Caps can be worn with the peak
forward. Golf shoes or any athletic shoes without spikes are required while on the
golf course.
Inappropriate golf course attire includes jeans of any kind, gym shorts, track or
sweat suits, beach wear, ripped or frayed clothing of any kind, shoes with metal
cleats or spikes.
Jeans may be worn in the clubhouse, provided they are not ripped or frayed. If
you are unsure about your attire, feel free to speak to a manager at the club for
further direction.
HANDICAPPING
The purpose of the Golf Canada handicap system is to make the game of golf
more enjoyable by enabling players of differing abilities to compete on an
equitable basis. The system provides a fair Golf Canada course handicap for
each player, regardless of ability, and adjusts a player’s Golf Canada handicap
factor up or down as the player’s game changes. At the same time, the system
disregards high scores that bear little relation to the player’s potential ability and
promotes continuity by making a Golf Canada handicap factor continuous from
one playing season or year to the next. A Golf Canada handicap factor is useful
for all forms of play.
Every golf club that issues Golf Canada handicap factors to its members must
appoint a Handicap Committee. The committee is responsible for ensuring that
Club Members who enter handicapped events have complied with the Golf
Canada handicap system. Your handicap factor is the number, to one decimal
point, beside your name in the handicap computer in the golf shop. Handicap
factors are used to ensure, as close as possible, a level playing field for all
entrants in handicapped events. (Most Member events use the handicapping
system).
To ensure that your factor accurately reflects the quality of your play, you must
enter ALL the scores you make during the active golf season into the handicap
computer. (Scores can also be entered online at www.golfcanada.ca) In the
Ontario/Quebec Region, the active season extends from April 15 to Oct. 31.
Rounds played out of season in Ontario are not to be posted. If you play outside
of your provincial handicap season somewhere else where golf is in season (e.g.,
our Florida Region), the scores for those rounds must also be posted. Please
visit www.rcganetwork.org for more information on posting out-of-country
scores.)
It is important that you enter your scores on a timely basis, ideally immediately
after each round, but no later than six days after completing a round.
You must enter scores for partial rounds as well as complete rounds. If you play
more than six holes but fewer than 13 holes during a round, a nine-hole score
should be posted. If you play 13 or more holes, an 18-hole score should be
posted. A procedure exists for “completing” partial rounds. If you do not know the
procedure, contact one of the committee members or the staff in the golf shop.
Please ensure you adjust your score using Equitable Stroke Control. For more
information on handicaps, go to www.golfcanada.ca and click ”Rules &
Handicap.”
A number of Club events qualify as tournaments. Scores for these events are
posted separately from regular scores. If in doubt about the status of an event or
of how to post these scores, check with either a committee member or the golf
shop.
The Handicap Committee will meet regularly to review the scores you have
posted. Your scores in handicapped events will be compared to your scores in
regular play. A check may be made to see that you have entered a score for all
the days on which your name appears on the tee sheets for all ClubLink courses.
If discrepancies are noticed during our review, you will be contacted by the
committee for a review of your handicap factor.
If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the
handicap chairman or the director of operations.
NON-COMPLIANCE POLICY
If Home Club Members wish to entertain Non-Home Club Members in Home
Club designated tee times on Saturday, Sunday and holiday mornings prior to 11
a.m., a 1:1 ratio of Home Club Members to Non-Home Club Members is
required. In the event a Home Club Member wishes to entertain additional
Associate Club Members in an applicable Home Club designated time, a 'noncompliance fee' of $60 will be charged to the Member making the reservation.
PACE OF PLAY POLICY
Our time par is listed on our scorecards for your reference. The role of our play
coordinators is to ensure a proper pace of play, which results in a more enjoyable
experience for all golfers. Please respect their role and cooperate with their
efforts to ensure an enjoyable golf experience for all.
PRACTICE FACILITY
Always check in with the golf shop prior to using the practice facilities. Please
obey posted signage and stay within the space allocated and only hit in the
direction of the targets provided.
TEE IT FORWARD
By golfing from tees not suited to their driving distance, many amateur golfers
end up playing yardages that, if compared proportionately, would intimidate the
best players in the world. If you’re an average male mid-handicapper playing
from 6,700 yards, that’s like a PGA Tour pro playing from 8,100 yards!
The TEE IT FORWARD initiative is aimed at helping golfers have the best
possible experience on the golf course by playing from the set of tees best suited
to their abilities, determined by their average driving distance. Initiated by the
USGA, PGA of America, Golf Canada and the PGA of Canada, TEE IT
FORWARD is endorsed by ClubLink because of its many benefits:
-Faster rounds, improved pace of play
-Experiencing the course at the same relative proportions a PGA Tour or LPGA
player would
-Using mid-irons for approach shots instead of hybrids and long irons
- Better and more realistic scoring
-Fewer lost balls, less time spent looking for them
-Fewer shots, less frustration
-Overall increased enjoyment of the game

TEE-TIME CANCELLATIONS
Non-weather related tee-time cancellations are required no less than 24 hours
prior to play. To cancel a player or an entire tee time, Members may contact
LinkLine or the golf shop directly. In the event the cancellation policy has not

Member Clubs for a reciprocal fee of $80. In the event a Silver Member
introduces three paying guests at one time, the reciprocal fee is waived when
playing at Prestige and Platinum Member Clubs. The reciprocal fee is also

We may not be able to guarantee you a hole-In-one…but we’ll insure it! All
ClubLink Members and guests who score a hole in one on a ClubLink golf course
will receive a plaque to commemorate their accomplishment. In addition, golfers
and non-golfing ClubLink Members who are in the clubhouse (up to three guests
only) during the one-hour period following the completion of the round played by
the Member or Member’s guest who scored the hole in one are entitled to one
