What a wonderful time to be a member of Wilson Country Club! Our centennial year is packed full of events.
There are events aimed to attract all ages and all interests of our membership and their families. Our kickoff
party is January 23. Be sure to place that date on your calendar. In addition, be sure to look over our entire
calendar of events scheduled for 2015, because I know you will be impressed. As the year unfolds, we will be
reviewing our history and “going back in time “with some of our activities. If you have not obtained your
magnet and event calendar, please stop by the office and get them.
Please remember our annual stockholders meeting scheduled for February 26. The election of three new
members of the Board of directors will be announced at the meeting, assuming we get enough votes for the
proposed slate. The names of three nominees recommended by the nominating committee along with a
brief “bio” are being sent to each of the stockholders for their review. If you are unable to attend the
meeting, please mail your vote or proxy prior to the meeting. As a reminder, the bylaws were changed in
2014, and the vote is either an up or down vote for the proposed slate. The bylaws require that we receive
votes that represent at least 30 % of the stock that is held by our membership. This has been difficult to obtain at times in the past, therefore PLEASE VOTE. I believe we have a particularly strong slate of candidates.
My thanks to Bob Matthews and his committee for selecting the candidates and to the candidates for agreeing to have their names placed on the ballot.
If not before, I hope that by the time of our annual meeting, the evaluation, and investigation of our accounting irregularities, first identified in late November, 2014 will have been essentially completed, and we
will be able to give a final report. This has been a particularly difficult and time consuming process and we
thank you for your patience and understanding. A special thanks to our General Manager, Brad Bourret, his
front office staff, Jody Barnes and Dorothy Strahley, and our Treasurer Ken Hyde for the many, many hours
they have devoted and continue to devote to unraveling the accounting problems.
Although 2014 was in many ways a challenging and at times difficult year, it was still a year filled with many
fun activities and accomplishments. We all should be aware of how well our entire management and staff
performed within the restraints of a very tight budget. We enjoyed numerous traditional and new golf, tennis, pool, and social functions. Among the accomplishments in 2104 are: Lawson Maddox and his committee
developed a well-designed strategic plan for our future; Bob Matthews developed and improved written policies and procedures for us to follow; and Robin Williams and her committees have planned a wonderful year
of activities to celebrate our 100th anniversary .
Let us all celebrate and enjoy our special centennial year and I look forward to seeing and celebrating the
many events with you.

Happy New Year!
On behalf of all of our staff, let me say we are all looking forward to a Great year with all of our Centennial
Events. I also sincerely have appreciated the overwhelming amount of support from our membership in the
last two months, it has meant a lot to all of our staff here at the club.
December was a very eventful month at the club. The past 45 days we hosted over 180 attendees at our
Thanksgiving Buffet, over 200 attendees at our Breakfast with Santa event, 120 attendees at our Holiday Jazz
Brunch and over attendees at our New Year Eve Buffet Dinner. A very special THANK YOU to Nikki Nemer for
all of her help in making the clubhouse look so very festive for the Holidays. Also a very special THANK YOU
to Dave Duley and John Wright for their help with our repair projects.
As you know WCC is celebrating our 100 Year Anniversary in 2015 and what a year it will be. Robin Williams
is the Chair of our Centennial Committee and we have a full year of events scheduled throughout the year
that you will enjoy. Our Centennial Celebration beings with our Kickoff Party featuring Backyard Groove on
Friday, January 23rd. Please get your friends together and make your reservations soon as we expect HUGE
turnout. If you have not yet picked up your 2015 Social Calendar magnet, please pick them up at the
Administrative Office.
With our Centennial Celebration we have just announced our 2015 Centennial Membership Drive. There has
never been a better time to bring in your friends, family, and coworkers to the club. 2015 will be a very
special year to be a member of WCC.
Please mark your calendar for our Annual Stockholder Meeting on Thursday, February 26 th beginning at 6:00
PM. A review of the prior year, introduction of the 2015 new Board Members, a review of our finances for
2014, latest membership levels, highlights of the upcoming year and a question and answer will be
presented.
Celebrating your birthdays and anniversaries are becoming very popular at the club. When you come to the
club to celebrate your birthday or anniversary you will receive the percentage off the price of your lunch or
diner that corresponds to your age or how long you have been married. When you make your reservation
just inform what you are celebrating. For example, if it is your 55th birthday you receive 55% off the price of
your entrГ©e; if you are celebrating your 20 year anniversary you both will receive 20% off the price of your
entrees.

In an effort to encourage the
membership to continue fixing
ball marks, we have provided you
with some factual information
that may interest you. Unrepaired ball marks take at least
two to three weeks to properly
heal, leaving behind unsightly,
uneven putting surfaces. On the
other hand, a repaired ball mark
takes only half the time to heal.
Beginner or pro, it is your responsibility as a golfer to fix your own
ball marks. If you are truly a steward of the game, you’ll fix any
others you see while your partners are putting as well.

As the weather outside continues to cool off, we
want to ensure that our golf swings do not. Finding
even a few minutes a day to hit the range, roll putts
on the carpet of your living room, or even chip balls
in your back yard will help us maintain proper form
and feel. Thanks to all of you for your continued
support and confidence in me and my staff. I am
very blessed to be afforded the honor of being your

cannot wait to see you at the club.

Tip of the Month
As we experience weather or rain in which it is unpleasant
to play golf here, we notice that many of you are taking
your talents on the road. People often consult the golf shop
after their trips and we are noticing one shocking similarity.
We have to know what type of grass we are playing on prior
to playing the golf course for lower scores. Root systems
have different lengths, thus different resistances when a
golf club is passing through it. This in turn means the way
we make our shot selection changes based off the type of
grass we are playing that day. Learn more about the types
of grasses you normally play on and it will help you to lower
your score by choosing a more reasonable shot for that
specific grass.

Craig Clemmer
Golf Course Superintendent
Many of you know that we have been making a strong effort at holding down expenses the last few months. Because
of this we have held off on doing our winter work that ultimately shapes things up and betters the course for the coming year. We are behind on the list of jobs that I had planned on accomplishing and we probably will not get it all completed this year. However, that is what drives this operation. I am always looking for ways to better the course and
playability while still operating within our budget. In essence, I will never be caught up on the course work and should
not be if we want to continually improve the course.
We have been operating with less man power the past few months while still getting some minor tasks completed.
Most of our work has involved leaf cleanup, which is a major undertaking; raking bunker weekly and picking pine cones
in some high impact areas. Obviously this doesn’t sound like a lot, but it really is when you consider that my men’s
hours have been scaled back to no more than 30 per week and we are technically operating with one less than we have
ever had before. When you factor in the rains and adverse weather in which my men can’t work, you get a real picture
of the overall impact to our operation as well as to the employees on a personal level.
For the next few weeks we will be making a strong push to get some things done on the course. The first thing we will
strive to accomplish will be to get some limbing done on the right hand side of #12, to the left of 14 tee and also a few
going down the right hand side of 13 fairway. Once we get that done we will be taking down three trees to the left of
17 that affect the tee shot when the gold and white tees are to the far left of the tee box and even more so when the
pin is on the far left of the green. We will be doing this work within our current labor parameters so it may take some
time to achieve completion.
While we do not anticipate making any great strides this year, we should at least make some positive impacts on the
course in some areas where the effects will be highly visible.
On another note, I hope that all of you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I look forward to seeing you all
on the course in the very near future.
