ANNOUNCEMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADMISSION
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Deadline: July 25, 2014; end of the working day (according to Turkish local time)
General Provisions
1. 30% country quota limitation, 20% African Countries Quota Limitation and 20% Balkan Countries and %20 Own-country Scholarship Quota Limitation is
applied to the total sum of the quotas of each Faculty/Graduate School/Vocational School/Conservatory departments/programs except Faculty of
Medicine.
2. For Faculty of Medicine, 30% country quota limitation, 10% African Countries Quota Limitation, 10% Balkan Countries Quota Limitation and 10 % owncountry scholarship quota is applied to the total sum of the quotas.
3. This limitation is not applied if the quota limit is not reached.
4. Application fees of the applicants who withdraw their applications or those who fail to get into a programme are not refunded.
5. Those who receive disciplinary punishment from a Turkish Higher Education Institution cannot apply.
6. Applications and other procedures of International students who will apply depending on the results of special talent exams will be followed by the
applicants themselves.
Applications of the following candidates will be taken into consideration
A) On the condition that the candidate is a final year student in a high school or is a high school graduate;
1. Those who are foreign nationals,
2. Those born as Turkish citizens but have the legal permission from the Ministry of Interior to withdraw from citizenship; and their underage children who are
registered to the “withdrawal from Turkish citizenship document” of their parents and certify that they hold the Certificate regarding the Exercise of Given Rights
obtained in accordance with the Turkish Nationality Law.
3. Those who had been born as a foreign national but then became a naturalized Turkish Citizen through acquired citizenship / and those dual citizens with
Turkish Citizenship.
4. TR citizens who have completed their entire secondary education in a foreign country other than Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (including those who
have completed their entire secondary education in Turkish schools in foreign countries except TRNC).
5. Those who are Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus citizens residing in TRNC and have finished their secondary education in TRNC and holding GCE AL test
scores; and those who enrolled in a college or a high school in other countries between 2005 – 2010 and received education there and possess or will possess GCE
AL test scores.

and recieve a print out.
Candidates are required to post this print-out, together with the other required documents listed below in a sealed envelope before the end of the

a) A certified copy of the high school diploma or graduation certificate with their Turkish translated copies (Certifications must be done either by a
Notary Office in Turkey or the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in the applicant’s country),
b) A copy of your transcript ( an official and certified document given by the high school directorate, showing the classes the candidate has taken and
the grades the candidate has received),
c) The result of the candidate’s OMU-YÖS or another OMU-YÖS-equivalent exam (the exam result certificates must be translated into Turkish and
certified either by a Notary Office in Turkey or the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in the applicant’s country),
d) Bank receipt of the 100 TL application fee (the application fee should be deposited to the following bank account: Ziraat Bankası [name of the
bank] Üniversite Şubesi [name of the branch] TR 37 0001 0014 7909 7123 8250 17)
Note: Our University shall not be held responsible for documents that are not sent on time or for delays related to postal delivery services; and the
applications of those whose documents are not received by Our University on time will not be evaluated.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
The candidates must have the following OMÜ-YÖS test scores:
 a minimum of 60 for faculties with an education period of 5 or more years,
 a minimum of 55 for undergraduate programmes,
 a minimum of 40 for associate degree programmes.
OMU-YOS results will be given priority in the placement procedures of international students. Following the placement procedures in accordance with OMÜYÖS results and the candidates’ preferences, the placement process will proceed in accordance with the other national and international exam results.
Following this placement procedure, the remaining quotas will be filled in accordance with the GPA results.
The candidates must have the following OMÜ-YÖS test scores for the second placement period:
 a minimum of 50 for faculties with an education period of 5 or more years,



a minimum of 45 for undergraduate programmes,
a minimum of 35 for associate degree programmes,
a minimum of 30 for departments/programmes that accept students through special talent exams.
OMU-YOS results will be given priority in the placement procedures of international students. Following the placement procedures in accordance with OMÜYÖS results and the candidates’ preferences, the placement procedures will proceed in accordance with the other national and international exam results.
Following this placement procedure, the remaining quotas will be filled in accordance with the GPA results.

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EXAMS EQUIVALENT TO OMU-YOS
The applications of the candidates with;
a) A minimum of 1000 or 1100 total points in SAT I exam,
b) A Level in "General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination" in at least 3 subjects, one of which must be related with the programme applied for, and at least C
level for average score of all the subjects,
c) A minimum score of 24 for Math, Science Reasoning and Composite points in the ACT exam,
d) A minimum of 90 points in average for all lessons in the Scientific Stream of the "Tawjihi" exams held in Jordan and Palestine,
e) A minimum of 70 points for diploma grade for the Scientific Stream of the "Baccalaureat Libanais" exams held in Lebanon,
f) An international "Baccalaureat Libanais" diploma with a minimum average score of 28 and 32,
g) Gold, silver or bronze medals in international scientific competitions recognized by TUBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey),
h) A maximum of 4 points in the ABİTUR exam,
i) A French Baccalaureat diploma with a minimum diploma grade of 12 points,
j) A minimum score of 190 points out of 240 for the quantitative and equally-weighted departments and a minimum of 175 points for other departments in the AlShahada-Al Thanawiya (Baccalaureate) exam held in Syria,
k) A minimum of 195 points for the departments in the Faculties of Engineering and Science or a minimum of 185 points for the other departments in the Al-ShahadaAl Thanawiya (Baccalaureate) exam held in Libya,
l) A minimum high school diploma grade (Diplome Debirestan) average of 12/20 and a minimum “Pişdeneşgahi” graduation score of 12/20 in Iran,
m) A minimum score of 40% or more out of the total points in the University Entrance Exam of Greece,
n) A minimum score of 40% or more out of the total points in the University Entrance Exam of Macedonia,
o) A minimum score of 40% or more out of the total points in the University Entrance Exam of Kosovo,
p) A minimum grade point average of 40 points out of 100 for secondary education;
q) A certification of examination result held by other Turkish universities that recognize OMÜ-YÖS exam (results are valid for 2 years),
r) A minimum of 60 points in the Ujian Akhir National Examination held in Indonesia,
s) A minimum of 40 points in the TCS exam (Turkic Republics and Turkish and Relative Communities Exam) (results are valid for 2 years),
t) A minimum score of 140 points and 180 points in the YGS/LYS (Higher Education Entrance Examination/Bachelor’s Degree Placement Examination) exams for
Associate Degree Programme applications and for Bachelor’s Degree Programme applications respectively,
u) Other examination certifications that are not listed here but that will be accepted by the University Administrative Board
are received for consideration.
DATES OF APPLICATION FOR PLACEMENT
Candidates must legibly fill in the “Degree Application Form” in Turkish and deliver the form together with the required documents by post, online
(internet) or in person until July 25,2014 end of working day (according to Turkish local time) to the following address: Öğrenci İşleri Daire Başkanlığı KurupelitAtakum/SAMSUN.
In the event that there are missing documents in the applications that are sent by post, the application will not be evaluated. Our University shall not be
held responsible for delays of postal delivery services.
NOTE: A “CERTIFICATE OF EQUIVALENCE” which shows that the high school diploma of the candidate is equivalent to the diplomas of Turkish high schools will be
asked during the exact registration. This certificate can be obtained from T.R. Ministry of National Education or from the Turkish Embassy located in the
applicant’s country.

The higher education institutions that admit foreign students in the academic year 2013-2014 and their quotas are listed in the tables in Appendix.
Foreign students are required to apply for those quotas.
Detailed information about application dates and tuition fees can be obtained from relevant higher education institutions.
See 4. A one-year Foreign Language preparatory program is offered for students wishing to attend a Foreign Language course within the available
quota. The duration of the preparatory program is not included in the total number of years of study required for graduation shown in the
columns for education period.
See 15.One-year English Language preparatory program is compulsory. The duration of the preparatory program is not included in the total number of
years of study required for graduation shown in the columns for education period. The students who are successful in the English Language
exemption test can directly begin the first year of their program.

can directly begin the first year of their program. Those who are successful in national and/or international language tests recognized by the
University, or are successful in the English Language exemption test held by the University, at the beginning of the academic year, can also be

See 30. Depending on the resources of the university, one-year foreign language preparatory programs (German/Arabic/French/English) are offered to
the students wishing to attend one of the stated foreign languages courses. The duration of the preparatory program is not included in the total
number of years of study required for graduation shown in the columns for education period.
See 36. In this program, bilingual education is offered in English and German. Students must take the exemption test in English and German.
Students who pass both exams can directly begin their undergraduate education. Students who fail one of the exemption tests attend a one-year
preparatory course for German or English. Students who cannot pass neither English nor German exemption test attend a two-year preparatory
course, one year for English and one year for German. Students who begin their undergraduate education are offered a four-year bilingual
program and they are awarded a bilingual diploma in the field of Translation and Interpretation.
See 46. A one-year English Language Preparatory Program is offered for students wishing to attend English Language course within the available
quota. The duration of the preparatory program is not included in the total number of years of study required for graduation shown in the
columns for education period.
see 51. Students of this program are required to take the proficiency Tests in English and German. Those who are successful on both tests may start
their programs. Those who are not successful are required to take preparatory courses, a one-year course for English and a one-year course for
German, making two altogether. (For exemption from the preparatory course, see 21 and see 125)
