EURASIAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY: A NEW WAY FOR
REGIONAL INTEGRATION IN POST-SOVIET AREA?

ÖZET
Avrasya Ekonomik Topluluğu EurAsEC’in kurulması sadece bölgeselleşme çalışmaları
analizi için değil aynı zamanda yeni uluslararası sistem ve değişen devletlerarası ilişkilerin analizinde önemli bir çalışma alanı sunmaktadır. Makalede Avrasya Ekonomik
Topluluğu’nun analiz konusu olarak seçilmesinin ana nedeni hem eski ve yeni bölgeselleşme dalgalarının belirli özelliklerini yansıtıyor olması hem de Sovyet sonrası coğrafyada ilk kez uluslarüstü bir entegrasyon modelinin ortaya konuyor olmasıdır. Bu bağlamda
makalede devam etmekte olan bütünleşme sürecinin üye ülkelerin sadece ekonomi ve dış
politikalarına olan etkisi değil aynı zamanda bölgesel ve uluslararası sistem üzerinde
potansiyel etkileri de incelenecektir.

ABSTRACT
The establishment of the EurAsEC, is an important issue, not only for the analysis of the
concept of regionalism, but also for identifying the key variables of the new international
order and the changing character of inter-state relations in post-Soviet area. This article
therefore aims to study attempts at integration within the EurAsEC, which provides a
unique example in that it combines the old regionalism with the new regionalism. EurAsEC is also worth analyzing not only in relation to the EU, but also as the sole example
of an organization declaring its ambition to promote supranational integration process
in the post-Soviet area. In this context, this article aims to analyze the potential effects of
the development of the regional integration process not only on the member states’ foreign and economic policies but also on the formation of a new regional and international
order.
