Four rehearsals left so every one of them matters. After only two weeks we can see things coming together. So
much fun to watch! This weekend we will start leveraging even more of our volunteers as we start pulling out
and inventorying our scenery and props. If you signed up to help in these areas, please be prepared to help
during on-ice. We will have a short show committee/volunteer meeting at 6pm in the party room. A great
time to talk about publicity, ticket sales, show weekend support and more.
Please remember to check in at off-ice as soon as you arrive.
Soloists for green cast are expected to join your group at off-ice this Sunday.
Thank you to everyone who has handed in their volunteer forms. We’ve had a terrific response! If you have not
yet volunteered, please pick up a form at off-ice or on-ice.
Excused absence must be submitted in writing to show directors prior to practice. Please remember that only 2
absences (including sickness) are allowed for show rehearsals. Repeated tardiness or arriving late to practice
may result in your skater being removed or rearranged in the choreography.
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes during off-ice. NO JEANS, and sneakers or ballet shoes are
recommended.
THANK you to our volunteers who did a fantastic job with Friends and Family; our ever patient volunteer
coordinators and all of you already hard at work behind the scenes.
Any questions regarding practice/show can be sent to Mia or Donna. You can contact them at:
Mia: 410-409-3815; [email protected] or Donna: 443-745-4412; [email protected]
Mouse Costume Pieces Needed
Do you have a Mouse Head Piece or Black Boot Covers
gathering dust in your closet? We would love to re-use these
for the 2011 Nutcracker. Please bring them in to Kim
Scherock this Sunday. Email Kim at [email protected]
Nutcracker Tickets on Sale!
By Ji Lydon
Tickets for the 2011 Nutcracker on Ice show are now available.
The ticket price is $12 per person and we ask each family to
purchase/sell 12 tickets or more. Doing this really helps ensure
we fill those stands!
To get you even more motivated we have a little competition.
Whoever purchases/sells the most tickets by November 27th
will receive a $50 Gift Card!!! Record your ticket sales on our
attached form and turn in to Ji Lydon on November 27th. To
enter you must have sold at least the minimum of 12 tickets.
There are two ways to get your tickets. They can be purchased
online at www.columbiafsc.com/shows.aspx or in person at the
rink. There will be an additional service fee for tickets
purchased online. We have also attached the flyer for you to
post on Facebook, email to families, print and hang at your
favorite place.

Skaters at Sectionals Next Week

Good luck Allison, Robert and Sarah!
В NUTCRACKER COSTUMES
В BY KATINA FINKS
Please be sure to connect with your costume coordinator each week for updates. This is the primary way to stay
current and it helps all of us remain on the same page. Remember that only the approved costume is allowed to
be worn for show. Please follow all instructions and take pictures so that your costume matches the rest of the
group. Nothing is to be changed from the design without permission from the costume director.
Mice and Russian fabric will be available this Sunday. Sorry for the delay as we worked through the logistics of
knowing exactly what was needed. Please see Diane Stulman at ON-ICE to pay and pick up a receipt so you
can get your fabric. Take your receipt to your coordinator to pick up your fabric at ON-ICE practice.
It was great to see some already wearing costumes BUT BEWARE….. NO eating “messy” foods while wearing a
costume. Hot Chocolate is very dangerous during costume time. If you are eating messy food please be
considerate and clean it up when you are done so no one accidentally gets a stain on their costume.
A FEW COSTUME SEWING TIPS:
****When sewing with lycra always make sure the shiny side is inside
****When sewing with velvet always remember to cut against the nap
**** Never use hot glue for rhinestones. It does not do well on costumes in temperature changes from warming room to the
ice, plus it has a tendency to melt the fabric
If you need information on seamstresses within the club please feel free to email me at [email protected] or ask your
coordinator. Please save all Joann fabrics and Michael's coupons that you will not use and give them to your coordinator!

KELLY TIMLEN
Good job last week at show practice. Keep up the good work. Remember to smile as big as you can and act
out everything so that when you do it in show it feels natural. As you all know, I have a big sister Allison who
has been doing shows for a very long time along with many other older skaters that you may know, and she
says in exact words, "If you think you are over acting, you are still probably not acting enough." I say, "if you
are shy it might be hard at first, but just keep trying and do your best.” One last thing for you to remember -HAVE FUN!
