Bus and transportation information
In Rome, public transport is quite efficient, though the Underground lines are few
with respect to other world capital cities.
Warning! If the bus or the metro car is crowded, beware of pickpockets!
The ticket costs € 1.50, and allows to travel for 100 minutes on buses (but only one
trip on Metro and Trains is allowed). The ticket must be bought in advance, before
entering the bus, and must be stamped by the devices on the buses. The last ride on
Metro lines is at 23:30.
The Rome Metro station closer to NH Villa Carpegna Hotel is “Baldo degli Ubaldi”,
about 1 Km from the hotel (walking). You can also get off at “Cipro” (two stops
before “Baldo degli Ubaldi”) and take bus 31 – Westward direction “Laurentina”,
passing in via Leone XIII after 7 bus stops, a few meters from the hotel.
How to reach Villa Carpegna Hotel from Metro A station “Baldo degli Ubaldi”
From “Baldo degli Ubaldi” station, follow “via Cardinale Mistrangelo” (200 m.),
pass in front of a small church (Chiesa Santa Maria del Riposo, with Renaissance
frescos, in the picture), and follow “via dei Gozzadini”. Be careful not to follow “via
Aurelia” or “via della Madonna del Riposo”.
Please note that “via dei Gozzadini” is narrow and with hot weather it can be smelly
due to many trash cans located in the street!
After about 300 m, take the stairs an you will arrive in a large crossing of roads (“via
Gregorio VII” and “via Anastasio II”). Cross the main road at the traffic lights, and
you are in “via Leone XIII”. Keep the left side of “via Leone XIII” and after about
150 m. follow “via Pio IV”, where you’ll find NH Villa Carpegna Hotel after a few
meters.
How to reach Metro A station “Baldo degli Ubaldi” from Villa Carpegna Hotel
Exit from the hotel keeping the left, then follow “via Leone XIII” to the right until its
end. Here cross “via Leone XIII” and “via Gregorio VII” at the traffic lights.
Take the stairs, and you’ll find yourself in the narrow “via dei Gozzadini”. Follow
“via dei Gozzadini” until its end (about 300 m.), pass in front of a small church
(Chiesa Santa Maria del Riposo, with Renaissance frescos), and follow “via
Cardinale Mistrangelo” (200 m.). You will arrive in “via Baldo degli Ubaldi”, and see
the Metro signals.
To move from Villa Carpegna to Rome center, besides the Metro, the following
ATAC bus lines can be used:
bus 571:
571 terminal is just 300 meters from the hotel, in via Gregorio VII in front of
no. 380. This bus leaves every 20' and passes through, or close to, the
following places: St. Peter, Piazza Navona, Largo Argentina, Capitol Hill,
piazza Venezia, Imperial Forums, Colosseum, San Clemente Basilica, San
Giovanni in Laterano Basilica.
Buses 98, 881 – Westward direction “Paola”: these buses stop 200 meters from the
hotel, in via Gregorio VII; they pass close to St. Peter and end at a terminal
(Paola) close to Castel St. Angelo and piazza Navona. Their frequency is
about 10'.
