Welcome to TFL’s new Colour Trend Catalogue
for the season Autumn-Winter 2015–16. In this
brochure, we present the colour trends for leather
garment, footwear, accessories and upholstery.
TFL presents the
fashion colour trends

footwear, accessories,
and upholstery.
We have divided the colour trends into “Wearing”
and “Living”, devoting a section to each within the
publication. Wearing comprises inspirations and
colour trends for garments, footwear, and accessories. The Living section features all colours that
will decorate the season’s interior design.

designers, manufacturers and tanners to stay one
step ahead of the market. In combination with
the fashion colour trends, TFL provides information
about the appropriate dyes and dye applications.
In the following pages we will spotlight our
SELLA® colour range. SELLA® dyes are
anionic powder dyes specially selected for the
drum dyeing of shoe upper leather.

Wearing
The trend of the leather goods is like a river under flood conditions. Since last year, leather bags are becoming smaller and
smaller, but the market's appeal is still growing. Best craftsmanship of the final product is a "must" for the main luxury brands
to stand out from others.
During the last seasons, embossed calfskin and bovine leathers
were not taken a lot into consideration, but they are now
reappearing also in the shoe upper field with a more simple and
transparent finishing. The graphic style of the ‘50’s will be mixed
with the “kitsch” typical of the '80’s by combining exaggerated
accessories with basic and straight forward hand-crafted raw
materials.
Tanneries, shoe factories and also designers are strongly asking
more and more for eco-friendly and sustainable chemicals and
technologies, which help to make best use of highly valuable
raw hides and skins.

L’onda della pelletteria è un fiume in piena che sembra non
arrestarsi. Nell’ultimo anno le borse di vitello si stanno ridu
cendo di dimensione, quindi richiedono un minor quantitativo
di pelle nella realizzazione, ma in ogni caso eccellono per
vendita e appeal del mercato. L’artigianalità del prodotto
finale è un’esigenza per i vari brand del lusso affinché possano
contraddistinguersi.
Senza arroganza e senza esasperazioni, all’orizzonte ricompaiono gli stampati su vitellone e bovina che da tempo non
erano più presi in molta considerazione, anche nel mondo della
calzatura dove le pelli centrifugate con il loro vintage appeal
non saranno determinanti nel futuro prossimo.
Pulizia nei materiali base, ambrature manuali saranno illuminate
da stravaganti accessori così da mischiare lo stile grafico anni ‘50
al kitsch tipico degli anni ‘80.
Occorrerà fare i conti crescente coscienza ecologica e con una
sempre maggiore richiesta di prodotti chimici ecosostenibili.

Caterpillar
Vacuum-dried stuffed nubuck.
Trend: Full grain vegetable retanned cow sides, big-sized goat skins and buffalo leathers with pull-up
effects are combined with chrome-tanned extra soft nubuck bovine leathers. Half-boots will be mainly
made with nubuck leathers, to be brushed-off or finished with waxes and dried with innovative tumblers
to obtain a very fine grain.
Nubuck ingrassati centrifugati.
Trend: Vitelloni, capre taglia grande e bufali pieno fiore vegetalizzati pull up da abbinare a bovine
nubuck super soft puro cromo. Protagonista indiscusso per il polacchino, il nubuck si asciuga con
moderni tumbler per effetti vitellino grana fine, reattivi alla spazzolatura o rifiniti con cere e olii tipo
"Barbour".

Luggages
Suede bovine leathers with 2.0–2.2 mm thickness for leather goods.
Trend: The new leather goods are characterised by luxury suede splits dyed like martens or sables,
finished with iridescent metallic effects. Calfskins engraved by laser after a sandwich dyeing process.
Soft water-repellent wet-white lambskins not dry shaved on the flesh side to achieve irregular fur
effects. Soft hides like moose embossed with "jewel" plates and finished with performance acrylic
binders and metallic pigments.
Bovine scamosciate spessorate 2.0–2.2 mm per pelletteria.
Trend: Per la nuova brillante pelletteria croste scamosciate tinte come autentiche pellicce di
martora e zibellino, rifinite con miche metalliche cangianti. Vitelli rovesciati incisi al laser per scoprire
tinture sandwich, soffici agnelli wet-white scamosciati idrorepellenti non rasati lato carne per ottenere
effetti pelliccia non uniformi. Stampe gioiello su morbide pelli di alce rifinite con acriliche metallizzati e
pigmenti.

Silhouette
Full grain calfskins and sandblast leathers to be brushed-off.
Trend: For the urban shoe designers, who are selecting brush-off soft calfskins with 1.2–1.4 mm thickness finished with metallic charcoal or copper-bronze effects. The trend colours are wine, bordeaux
and rosé. Nubuck calf skins are tanned like "English splits" with a very fine grain combined with lambskins "plongé" leathers and vegetable tanned calf sides brushed off by a felt machine for a nice soft
touch.
Vitelli pieno fiore o sabbiati da abrasivare.
Trend: Per la scarpa "Urban" scegliamo le tonalità vino, mosto rosé o bordeaux per vitelli abrasivati
morbido-spessorati 1.2–1.4 mm, spazzolati e fissati in conceria dai riflessi metallici antracite e bronzo
ramato. Vitelli nubuck riconciati come croste inglesi dal poro finissimo da mixare con agnelli plongé
o mezzi vitelli vegetalizzati tamponati con olii e cere per addolcire il tatto.

Embossed calf hair and real reptile leathers.
Trend: Vegetable tanned box calfskins with 1.2–1.3 mm thickness finished with casein products for
glazed items. Indian buffalo hides padded by cylinder and finished with solvent-based TFL Patent
Finishing. Wet-white tanned real reptile leathers finished for a "gummy" effect. Large bovine hides
printed with fine serigraphic patterns for small luxury handbags and finished like nappa for long
women’s reversible garment.

Trend: Vitellini box vegetalizzati molto brillanti con spessore 1.2–1.3 mm che esaltano la rifinizione
caseinica lissata, bufalini indiani verniciati su prefondi tamponati all'anilina. Pelli di rettile autentico
conciate tipo allume con tatti gommosi e rifinizioni albuminiche. Sottili impronte serigrafiche sui vitelli
taglia grande in pelo per piccola pelletteria e nappati lato camoscio per abbigliamento.

Youthquake
Pigmented splits for sneakers.
Trend: Sneakers are made on opaque pigmented big calf and pig splits protected by polyurethane finishing
for high physical resistances. Finishing can have different effects, from the opaque metallic gummy looks
to polyurethane-based glossy or pull-up finishes, reminding to the '80’s Swatches®. Or alternatively
chrome-free bovine leathers pigmented by using RODA® lite pigments in high performing base coats and
water-based top coats.
Croste pigmentate fantasia per sneakers.
Trend: Sneakers dalle emozioni forti su ampie croste di vitello e di maiale pigmentate opache protette
da finishing poliuretanici inattaccabili. Le rifinizioni spaziano dai metallici gommosi opachi ai lucidi
poliuretanici in bilico con la vernice terminando con crazy horse sfacciati come gli Swatch® anni 80.
In alternativa, bovine free-chrome pigmentate con RODA® lite e top all'acqua.

Living
The world of the interiors is following an important trend focusing on the importance of weights and volumes of the materials
used. Many companies are looking for "nanotechnology" based
on better transparent finishes, basically expecting that those
enhance the natural beauty and look of leather. Because the
common opinion is focused on the idea that the smaller an
object is, the more beautiful, the more economical and the easier
it is to be carried.
Architects are creating very clean and functional spaces, where
all pieces of furniture need to be adapted according to this
main concept. The couch plays a main role in this scenery and
is lined with soft flotty nubuck bovine leathers and padded with
foam polyurethane products. Bovine leathers, with new
metallic and slightly vintage effects, are keeping their leading
position in the upholstery field, but also New Zealand vegetable
tanned lambskins are used with the aim of warming the spaces
thanks to their natural grain.
Referring to the colours, a new concept of white will appear.
White leathers need to have high light fastness and a full touch.
The main architects, also called "starchitects" will start using
also small skins, both plain and embossed, so the new trend is to
use also goat, lamb and calfskins. The revolution in the interior
design's world is to look for many different materials.

La rivoluzione dei pesi e dei volumi che sta procedendo a grandi
passi scuote il mondo conciario nel settore casa. Molte aziende
ricercano prodotti “nanotecnologici” che risaltino la naturale
bellezza della pelle, poiché piccolo è bello e soprattutto costa poco
ed è facilmente trasportabile. Il trend progettuale ci propone
abitazioni pulite e funzionali, dove per diverse necessità si deve
adattare l’arredo all’esigenza del mercato.
Fondamentale sarà la proposta di nuovi bianchi con elevati standard
di resistenza alla luce, ma anche dal punto di vista cromatico i nuovi
bianchi con mano rotonda creeranno nuove libertà espressive in
toni acquerellati e più prospettici.
Capre, vitelli, agnelli, bovine e le loro varianti stampate sono e
saranno anche sui tavoli degli “archistar”, che hanno abbandonato
la richiesta di particolari dimensioni interessandosi piuttosto alla
ricerca di nuovi materiali.

Protagonista di questa necessità è il divano imbottito con poliuretani schiumati a freddo, foderato di soffici bovine nubuck gonfie e
sfoderabili. Le pelli bovine rimangono comunque predominanti nel
settore industriale, anche con nuove finiture metalliche soft vintage.
Contemporaneamente gli agnelli Nuova Zelanda vegetalizzati riscalderanno con la loro grana naturale le aree living anche in abbinamento a prodotti cotonieri.

Three-dimensional vachettes and cow skins.
Trend: High-gloss leathers, natural cattle hides and splits are combined with pearl-effect calfskins
in hazel-platinum or golden-rosé shades to achieve a vintage effect. Leathers are wrinkled in the drum
and buffed by hand to create rock-like effects on the surface. Thickness 2.2–2.4 mm. The deep wrinkles
on the brushed-off sides of the leather will intensify the effect given by special acrylic resins.
Cuoietti e vacchette 3D.
Trend: Cuoio, vacchette naturali e croste impregnate superlucide si mescolano a vitelli perlati nei
toni del platino nocciola, oro rosé, rame azzurrato per un colto effetto vintage. Smerigliati a mano per
effetti nacré risaltano su pelli raggrinzite in spessori 2.2–2.4 mm. Rughe profonde sui fianchi di vitello
carteggiati esaltano le resine acriliche più fini.

Gravity
Full substance puffed up bovine leathers with plissé effects.
Trend: For removable sofas we use waterproof nubuck calfskins with a "plissé" effect on the surface.
Pre-milled pastel-shade bovine leathers come along with chrome tanned Brazilian zebu to be embossed
with aluminum plates engraved with dried flowers' patterns. Luxury calfskins dyed like "sauvage" are
contrasting with South African Tek and Wenge articles.
Bovine gonfie plisettate pieno spessore.
Trend: Divani sfoderabili in soffice nubuck di vitello plissettato a cilindro idrorepellente.
Nappe prebottalate dai toni pastello si abbinano a zebù conciati al cromo per grane fini da stampare
con piastre in alluminio con disegni di fiori disidratati. Vitelloni macchiati a rullo con cere e poliuretani
disegnano effetti Tek e Wenge' sudafricani contrastando con tinture effetto sauvage di botte.
