皆さんこんにちは、国際交流センター長を務めている穴沢
です。既に4年間センター長を務めてきましたが、これから
また2年間、この職を続けることになりました。
これまで、本学の国際交流の中心は留学生の受け入れ
でした。留学生は学部、大学院（含む研究生）、そして、協
定大学からの交換留学生からなります。このところコンス
タントに80名以上の留学生を受け入れてきました。留学生
がキャンパスにいることは本学の学生にも刺激になるも
ので、引き続き、留学生の受け入れと教育に力を注ぎた
いと思います。
一方で、本学から海外の協定大学に留学する学生は昨
年度は約20名となりましたが、それまでは10名から15名
程度で推移してきました。海外留学を希望する学生が減
少していることは全国的な傾向ですが、本学の学生の場
合、特に就職活動が3年生の後期から始まっていたことが
影響していたと思います。就職活動の時期は少しずつ変
化してきていますが、それだけでなく、本学の学生が留学
しやすい体制を整備することも重要だと思っています。こ
れからの2年間、より多くの学生を海外に送り出す環境を
先生方や学内の他の部署と協力しながら作りたいと思っ
ています。
また、教職員の国際交流も今後の課題です。様々な研
究者の交流を協定大学を中心に進めていきたいと思って
います。留学生だけでなく、協定大学からの研究者を含む
世界各国からの研究者が常時本学に滞在し、本学の教
員と共同研究を進めることが、国際交流の新しい流れに
なることを望んでいます。
Hello, everyone. I am ANAZAWA, Makoto, Director of
International Center. I decided to continue my current post
two more years although I have taken this post for four years.
So far, OUC’s main international exchanges is accepting
international students; undergraduate students, graduate
students(including research students) and exchange students
from our partner universities. We have constantly accepted
international students more than eighty every year.
International students give stimulus for Japanese students a
lot , so we would give high priority of accepting international
students and its education.
On the other hand, the number of outbound students from
OUC to partner universities was about 20 last year whereas
about 10 or 15 till last year. The number of students who
wish to study abroad has been decreased nationally; as for
OUC students, especially job-hunting started from the end of
senior has affected it. Although the time of job-hunting has
been reconsidered, I think it is also important to build a
system that students can easily go abroad. From now on, I
would like to create an environment where more students
can easily go aboard in cooperating with professors and
other division.
Besides, international staff exchange is also a task. I would
like to proceed it focused on exchange of researchers from
partner universities. I hope not only international students,
but also researchers from oversea including partner
universities will keep staying OUC all the time and study in
collaboration with our professors, and that makes a new

私は 2012 年 8 月から 2013 年 5 月までアメリカにある
ミューレンバーグ大学で交換留学をしてきました。
ミューレンバーグ大学はペンシルバニア州の東側にあ
り、ニューヨークやフィラデルフィアといった大都市に比
較的近い場所に位置しています。キャンパスは自然に
囲まれており、昼間にはリスが、そして夜にはウサギ
がキャンパス内を走り回っています。留学中には前期
と後期に3科目ずつ現地の学生と一緒に授業を受講し
ました。ミューレンバーグ大学の特徴は留学生が全く
いないという点です。私が留学した時の留学生は私と
オランダからの留学生一人の合計二人だけで、その彼
は一学期間の留学でしかなく、後期の留学生は私だけ
でした。
I studied abroad at Muhlenberg College in the U.S.
from August 2012 to May 2013. Muhlenberg College is
located in eastern Pennsylvania, which is relatively
close to New York City and Philadelphia. The campus
is surrounded by nature, with squirrels and rabbits
romping around. During my stay, I took three classes
in each semester, with local students.
One of
Muhlenberg’s characteristics is that there are few
exchange students. When I first arrived, there was only
one other exchange student; that student, was from the
Netherlands and had studied abroad for just one
semester. I was the only exchange student in the spring
semester.
「アメリカ人と言えばフレンドリーだ」というイメージを
持っている方が多いと思いますが、まさにその通りで
す。留学生がいなく、比較的シャイな自分であるために
不安も多くありましたが、彼らのフレンドリーさに助けら
れ、授業そして友達からの紹介などを通して友達がで
きていきました。
I assume that many people have an image of
Americans being friendly. That is exactly right. Being
shy, as well as being one of only two exchange
students, I was so anxious, but the kindness of the
Muhlenberg students helped me a lot. I was able to
make many friends in class and, through those friends,
I was introduced to others.
留学をすることで海外の文化を自分の目で学ぶことが
できます。日本との違いに驚くことも多く、毎日が刺激
的でした。ある時、私が友達に「アメリカの食事ってな
に？」と聞くと少し混乱したように話しあった後に「じゃ
あ、巧弥はなんだと思う？」と聞かれ、「マクドナルド」と
答えるとその場が笑いに包まれたということもありまし
た。こういう経験があったためか、海外の文化に触れさ
らに興味が湧いてきたと同時に、自分が今まで知らな
かった（気づかなかった）日本の文化についてもっと学
びたいと思うようにもなりました。
Studying abroad allows one to experience other
cultures, firsthand. Many events surprised me and each
day was stimulating. One time, I asked a group of my
friends “What is American food?” They discussed it,
and, confused, then asked me back “What do you think
it is?” As soon as I replied “MacDonald’s”, they burst
into laughter. With these kinds of experiences, I
started to become interested in not only other cultures
but also in the Japanese culture that I have taken for
granted.

以下に述べることは、私のホームステイの体験から、これか
ら留学をして、それに際してホームステイを考えている方への
忠告のようなものです。結論から申しますと、ホームステイ先
の家庭では勝手にステーキを焼いてはいけません。絶対に。
絶対だめですよ。ホストマザーに怒られてしまいます。私のよ
うに。確かにニュージーランド等の肉の美味しい国への留学
ともなりますと、ステーキを食したくなる気持ちもわかります。
なにせスーパーマーケットには安価な巨大肉が、おいおいお
前さん、ちょいとお一つどうだいとでも言わんばかりに大量に
陳列されているのですから。でも我慢しましょう。ホームステイ
をするのであれば、素直にマザーにステーキを頼んでみま
しょう。ですがはっきり申しますと、こっそり焼いて食べたス
テーキは、背徳感という名のスパイスもあってかとても美味で
した。皆さん、私のマネはしてはいけませんよ。ホストマザーと
の関係がギクシャクしてしまいますからね。以上、ホームステ
イでの諸注意でした。
In addition, the experience made me understand what I
should do to improve my English skills, helping me to
study more efficiently.
This is why I recommend short-term study abroad
programs. What I said now is demonstrated by the fact
that nearly half of the students who participated in the
program with me wish to study abroad for a longer period
next year. They also hope to improve their English skills
because of the frustration they felt during the program. Of
course, I also hope to take part in a long-term study
abroad program.
I’m going to give a little advice from my home-stay
experience to those who wish to study abroad and take
part in home-stay programs. Don’t grill a steak without
asking during a home stay. Never. You would make your
host mother angry like I did. I really do understand the
feelings of those who want to try a steak in countries
where steaks are delicious like New Zealand. In super
markets there, there are huge amounts of cheap, large
steaks, but refrain yourself. Ask your host mother to grill
the steak for you. To tell you the truth, the steak I secretly
grilled was superb, but still don’t copy me. It would make
the relationship with your host mother an awkward one.
This is my warning for home stays.

皆さん、こんにちは。私は小樽商科大学大学院2年生の
王莉莉です。日本に来てから3年目に入りました。この3
年間で生活でも勉学でも、いろいろ経験してきました。私
にとっては、この3年間の経験が一生の思い出になります。
そして、日本への留学をきっかけにこれから社会人として
日本で新しい生活を始めようと思っております。

Hello, everyone. I am LiLi Wang, studying for graduate
degree at Otaru University of Commerce. Three years
have passed since I first came to Japan. During these 3
years, I have experienced a lot, not only in my studies but
also in my personal life. I will, treasure these experiences
throughout my lifetime. After graduating, I plan to start
my new life in Japan, working in a freshly, new
environment.

と決意しました。わがままと言われても、勇気があると言

の経験です。多分文化の差異だと思いますが、中国と日
本では職場の雰囲気が全く違います。時々、職員方々の
真面目さと頑張っている態度に感心します。国際交流セ
ンターで勉強してきたすべてのことは、将来の私の糧とな
るでしょう。
また、日本に留学したことで大切な勉強の機会と大事な
友達を得ました。まず、大学院へ進学したいという夢が叶
いました。この3年間で、経営学に関わる様々な知識を勉
強することができただけではなく、加賀田先生の下で、興
味のあるCSRにも詳しく触れました。中国で働いたことが
ある私は、本当に久しぶりの勉強時間を大切にしていま
す。もう一つは、沢山の日本人の友達ができたことです。
海外での一人暮しではありますが、皆の応援で毎日の生
活がとても充実しています。この場を借りて、応援して頂
いた皆様に感謝の気持ちを表します。
最後に、在学の皆さんへ一言があります。自分の人生は
自分で決めるものです。迷う時も、悩むこともあるでしょう
が、これは人生における波に過ぎません。乗り越えた先
には光輝く明日が待っています。皆さんの青春を楽しんで
くださいね。

friends, I quickly adapted to the Japanese environment
and began to improve my Japanese, day by day. From
then on, I was truly grateful, and led a meaningful life as
a research student. The following year, I became a
graduate student and started my busy student life. At that
time, the part-time job offer from the International Center
Office really helped me a lot, and spared me the worry of
living expenses. The most important thing is that I gained
valuable work experience as an associate. Because of the
culture differences between Japan and China, the
working atmosphere is totally different. I am really
impressed by the Japanese staff’s sincerity and hardwork, which will serve as a good example for me in the
future career.
Moreover, because of this chance to study in Japan, I
have had the opportunity to study further and made many
friends. During these 3 years, not only have I learned a
lot with regard to commerce, but I have also had the
chance to systematically study CSR, which I was
interested in, under the guidance of Kagata Sensei. On
the other hand, I have made a lot of Japanese friends,
who would always help me out when I was in need.
Therefore, I would like to express my sincere thanks to
them.
Finally, I want to share a few words with the students
studying at OUC. You are the one who will decide your
own future. Even though you will occasionally feel
confused or lost, these difficulties are just part of the ups
and down of life. If you can overcome them, tomorrow
will be a brighter day. Enjoy yourselves!

本学では，協定大学との関係強化を図るため，毎年，各
国の協定大学との交流を行っています。
2014年2月にはウーロンゴン大学（オーストラリア）,オタゴ
大学（ニュージーランド）を山本学長、穴沢センター長、持
田主任が訪問しました。また2014年3月には,新たに協定
締結を進めているオウル応用科学大学（フィンランド）の
外, エクスマルセイユ大学（フランス）, ウィーン経済大学
（オーストリア）を訪問する予定となっています。
本学では，これらの交流について，協定大学の教職員と
直接意見を交わす機会として重要視しており，今後も13カ
国にある各協定校等を定期的に訪問していく予定です。

The Otaru University of Commerce (OUC) takes part in
academic exchanges with partner universities from other
countries every year to strengthen its international relationships.
In February 2014, President Makio Yamamoto, Mr. Makoto
Anazawa (Director of the International Center) and Unit chief
Tatsuo MOCHIDA visited the University of Wollongong
(Australia) and the University of Otago (New Zealand) .
In March 2014, university staff is scheduled to visit the Oulu
University of Applied Sciences(Finland), Aix-Marseille
University (France) and the Vienna University of Economics
and Business (Austria) and conclude a new student exchange
agreement with the Oulu University of Applied Sciences.
OUC places great importance on these exchanges as
opportunities to have discussions with faculty members from
partner universities, and plans to regularly visit its partner
universities in 13 countries.

防災セミナー
Disaster Prevention Seminar
2013年11月9日，本学では，北海道国際交流・協力
総合センター（HIECC）と協力し，留学生に対する防災
セミナーを行いました。日本は,地震・台風といった自然
災害が多く,小学生の時から教育の一環として防災訓
練が行われていますが,国によっては自然災害が少な
く,なかなか自然災害に対してイメージが湧きません。
午前中,札幌管区気象台の方に講師としてお招きして
災害についてのお話をして頂き,その後，小樽市で大き
な地震があり，津波が発生するとの想定のもと，災害
からどのように身を守るかについてグループワークを
行いました。グループワークは,大判の小樽市地図を利
用して行われ,学生の防災に関する認識に直接役立つ
実践的なものでした。
午後からは,札幌市民防災センターに移動しました。
この施設では，地震や暴風を実際に体験することがで
きます。自然災害が少ない国から来た学生には，大変
貴重な機会となったと同時に，自然災害の脅威を実感
することができました。
防災セミナー終了後，三井アウトレットパーク北広島
で自由時間を取り，小樽へ戻りました。
3大学国際シンポジウム
OUC held a disaster prevention seminar for international
students in collaboration with the Hokkaido International
Exchange and Cooperation Center (HIECC)on November
9th 2013. In Japan, which is prone to natural disasters such
as earthquakes and typhoons, people take part in
emergency drills as part of their education from
elementary school onwards. However, people from
countries that rarely experience natural disasters have a
hard time picturing such disasters.
In the morning, an official from the Sapporo District
Meteorological Observatory talked about disasters, and
then participants worked in groups on how to protect
themselves from disasters based around a scenario where
a big earthquake occurred in Otaru, causing a tsunami.
The group work, in which a large map of Otaru City was
used, was very practical and useful to help the students to
understand disasters. In the afternoon, the students moved
to the Sapporo Citizens Disaster Prevention Center, where
visitors can simulate earthquake and typhoon situations.
This event provided a valuable opportunity for students
from countries that aren’t typically affected by natural
disasters to experience the threat of natural disasters.
After the Disaster Prevention Seminar, the students
enjoyed some free time at Mitsui Outlet Park
Kitahiroshima, and then went back to Otaru.
East Asian Triangle Symposium
2013年9月，3大学国際シンポジウムが開催されまし
た。このシンポジウムは,東北財経大学(中国),忠南大
学校（韓国）と小樽商科大学が相互に協定を結んでい
ることから,2007年から3大学の持ち回りで開催しており、
今年度は本学が開催校であったものです。
今回のシンポジウムは「東アジア諸国におけるマネジメ
ント研究」をテーマとし，各大学教授から研究成果の発
表が行われました。発表後は,コメンテーターによるコメ
ントがあり,それを受けて会場から質疑応答,意見交換
がなされました。
また今回から本シンポジウムを教育の場としても活用
するため，新たな試みとして，3大学の博士後期課程在
学中の大学院生3名による研究成果の英語での発表
及び3大学修了者の若手研究者・社会人3名による日
本語での研究内容の発表を行なわれました。会場には,
たくさんの教職員・学生等が訪れ,大盛況のうちに幕を
閉じました。
The East Asian Triangle Symposium was held in
September 2013. The symposium has been held since
2007 in turn by the three universities of the Dongbei
University of Finance and Economics (China), Chungnam
National University (South Korea) and the Otaru
University of Commerce, which have mutual partnership
agreements. OUC was the organizer of this year’s event.
Under the theme of “Management Studies in East Asian
Countries,” professors from the three universities
presented their research results. After the presentations,
commentators provided comments on the research, and
then questions and opinions from the audience in the
venue were heard.
This time, a fresh attempt was made to utilize the
symposium as an educational opportunity; three doctoral
students from the three universities made research
presentations in English, and three young researchers who
are graduates of the three universities made research
presentations in Japanese. The event attracted many
faculty members and students, and was very successful.
