世界に出会える文化イベント、その７♪
「現在のカナダの先住民」
私は、ニセコに住むようになって、気候、景色など、北海道とカナダの共通点
に色々と気づきました。もう一つの共通点は先住民の存在です。アイヌ民族が
日本以外でよく知られていないのと同じく、カナダの先住民のことは、カナダと
アメリカ以外では、よく知られていません。先住民は、歴史の本とカウボーイ映
画の存在だけではなく、現在も北アメリカで生活をしています。
カナダの歴史は、白人によって築かれたように伝えられていますが、実際に
はそうではありません。このイベントでは、カナダとアメリカの先住民による物語
を鑑賞します。音楽、美術と映画を紹介し、その魅力と先住民の実状について
話します。

The 7th Monthly International Culture Event ♪
Canada’s Aboriginals
When I came to Niseko, I noticed many similarities between Canada and Hokkaido – climate,
nature, and also the existence of aboriginals. In the same way that Ainu are not well known
outstide Japan, Native Americans are not known well outside Canada and America. These
aboriginals are not just relics from history books or cowboy movies, but real people still alive in
North America today.
Canadian history books were written by white settlers, but real history was built by Native
Americans. At this event we will take a look at the stories of Native Americans, and introduce the
unique music, art, and film by Native American artists.
