She was only twelve years old. But she knew that we are all part of a big family. She thought that we must change our lifestyles to save the animals and plants. Years later, Severn starts talking about her beliefs. The Earth Summit was a big event and it changed my life. I became famous. I had a lot of chances to meet and talk with people around the world. I always say, “People in one country can’t live a day without the help of people in other countries.” People in Japan, for example, must think of people in China when they wear clothes. They must also think of people in Africa and South America when they eat chocolate and feel happy. Mahatma Gandhi said many years ago, “If you wish to see a change in the world, you must change yourself first.” When I was in Rio for the Earth Summit, I met some street children.
