｢１１０｣は、無料で愛知県警察本部につながります。公衆電話では、１０円玉もテレホンカードも必要ありま
せん。
②どろぼうや暴力の被害、交通事故にあったときなど、不要不急の場合は、愛知警察署0561-39-0110に電話して
ください。
③電話をして警察官がでたら、あせらず、落ち着いて、
ａ何があったのか、ｂ場所はどこか、ｃ名前、ｄ連絡先、を話してください。
④パトカーが来たら、道案内のため迎えに出てください。

交番では、防犯・地域のパトロール、迷子の世話、落し物の処理などをしています。また、道を聞きたいときは、
交番で教えてくれます。

○ Contacting the Police
1）If the situation is an emergency, call 1-1-0. This number can even be called from pay phones and cell phones.
1）1-1-0 will connect you to the police free of charge. Dialing this number on a pay phone does not require the use of a tenyen coin or telephone card.
2）In instances of robbery, injury due to assault, traffic accidents, etc., you should telephone the police department. If emergency assistance is not required, call the Aichi Police Headquarters at 0561-39-0110.
3）When your call is answered by a police officer, calmly and without panicking state: (a) what has happened, (b) your location, (c) your name, and (d) your phone number.
4）When the police car arrives, please go to meet it and take the police to the scene of the incident.
Example Conversation:
a. “I’ve been robbed” or “there’s been an accident” or “there’s been a fight”.
b. “I’m at xxx” or “the location is (or a nearby landmark) is xxx.”

○ Calling 1-1-0 from a Cell Phone
1）When calling from a cell phone, be sure to give your location (home address) and cell phone number. If you don’t know
your address, describe a nearby landmark to use as a guide, or make your call from a nearby pay phone.
2）A police officer will call you back to verify the situation and your location. After reporting the incident, you should remain
where you are without turning off your cell phone.
3）If you are driving a vehicle, find a safe place to pull over before calling.
○ The Police and Kobans (Police Boxes)
Every neighborhood has a koban where police officers are stationed.
The police in a koban perform such duties as neighborhood security patrols, helping lost children, and maintaining a lost-andfound. If you need to ask for directions, you can do so at a koban.

1）Attempting to extinguish a fire by oneself is dangerous. Call out in a loud voice to alert others in the neighborhood, and
call the fire department to have a fire truck sent over.

4）When you hear the ambulance’s siren, go to meet it and show the attendants where the emergency is.
5）After you have called for an ambulance, arrange for someone to bring your health insurance card or patient registration
card (if there is a specific hospital you normally visit) if at all possible.

5　ガスもれのとき
○ガスの異臭に気づいたら
ガスは使い方をまちがえると大変危険です。
①ガスの異臭に気づいたら、ガス栓、メーターガス栓を閉めて、窓や戸を開け、十分に換気をしてください。
②引火の恐れがあるので、タバコなどに火をつけたり、換気扇、電気器具のスイッチをさわらないでください。
③近所の人に知らせるとともに、休日、夜間を問わず、ガス会社や販売店に電話をしてください。

6　地震のとき
日本は、地震が多い国です。いつ、どこで震災が起きても、被害を最小限にとどめる事ができるように、常に準備
をしておきましょう。
○非常時に備えて
①家の中で一番安全な場所を確認しておく。
②一人一日２～３リットルを目安に、最低３日分の飲料水及び食糧を確保しておく。
③リュック、あるいは救急袋を用意し、家族全員が知っている場所に置く。
【リュックに入れておくもの】
ａ懐中電灯・乾電池　ｂ飲料水・食糧　ｃ携帯ラジオ　ｄ現金　ｅ身分証明書の写し・パスポート　ｆライター　ｇ救急セット（持病がある人は常備薬を忘れずに）
ｈヘルメット　ｉ軍手・靴下・肌着　ｊ防寒・防水シート　ｋロープ　ｌ筆記用具　ｍタオル・ティッシュなど
④家具・テレビ・冷蔵庫などが倒れないように、転倒防止用の金具で固定する。
⑤窓、食器棚や木棚などのガラスに飛散防止用フィルムを張る。
⑥緊急用の電話番号や言葉が通じる連絡先を明記しておく。
⑦避難場所と最寄の病院及びその経路を確認しておく。
○地震が発生したら
①火を使っている場合、すぐに火を消しガスの元栓を閉めましょう。
②屋内では、家具などが倒れてくる場合があるので、身の安全を図りましょう。部屋や玄関のドアを開け、逃げ
道を確保しましょう。
③屋外では、窓ガラスや看板などが落下してきたり、塀などが倒れてくる場合があるので注意しましょう。
④家族や近所の人からはぐれないように、お互い確認をしながら速やかに避難所へ移動しましょう。

5. Gas Leaks
○ If You Notice the Smell of Gas
Gas can be very dangerous if not used correctly.
1）If you notice the smell of gas, turn off the gas valves inside and at the meter, and open windows and doors so that the
house can sufficiently air out.
2）If there is a danger of the gas igniting, refrain from lighting cigarettes and don’t touch the switches on any fans or electrical appliances.
3）Inform other people in the neighborhood, and phone the gas company or supplier regardless of holidays or the time of
day.

6. Earthquakes
Japan experiences frequent earthquakes. Always make the preparations necessary in order to minimize the damage caused
by earthquakes, no matter when or where they may occur.
○ Preparing for Emergencies
1）Check where the safest place in your house is.
2）Set aside enough food and drinking water for at least three days with 2–3 liters of water per person per day as a baseline.
3）Put together an emergency kit and put it somewhere everyone in your household will know to find it.
[What to Put in an Emergency Kit:]
a. A flashlight and batteries
b. Food and drinking water
c. A wireless radio
e. Valuable items like photo IDs, passports, bank passbooks, etc.
d. Cash
f. Matches, lighters, and candles
g. A first-aid kit (not forgetting to include medication for anyone with a chronic illness)
h. A hard hat or other protective headwear
i. Work gloves, socks, and underwear
j. Blankets and tarps for heat insulation and protection from water
l. Writing materials
k. Rope
m. Towels, facial tissues, etc.
4）Make sure furniture, television sets, refrigerators, etc. are firmly fastened in place so they will not fall over.
5）Use shatter-prevention film on windows, cupboards, and shelves where glass is used.
6）Make a list of emergency telephone numbers and contacts with whom you speak the same language.
7）Know where the nearest emergency shelter and hospital are and how to get there.
○ When an Earthquake Occurs
1）Switch off any gas devices in use immediately and turn the gas off at the main valve.
2）Take steps to stay safe from falling furniture and other objects inside. Open all the interior doors and the front door, and
check to make sure there is a clear escape route.
3）Once outside, watch out for falling window glass, signs, etc., as well as collapsing fences.
4）Try not to get separated from your family and neighbors. Check to make sure everyone is present and quickly make your
way to the shelter.

1　住まい
（1）アパートを借りる方法
民間の借家やアパートを借りる際には、不動産業者に行き、希望の条件を提示して、紹介してもらうのが一般
的です。
アパートなど借りたい地域になるべく近い不動産業者を訪ね、家賃、部屋の広さ、交通手段など、こちらの希
望する条件を伝え、実際に部屋を見て借り入れを決めてください。
なお、会社や日本人の保証人、友人など日本の事情に詳しい先輩たちに協力してもらうのが良いでしょう。
（2）公共賃貸住宅
愛知県には、住宅に困っている人のために、比較的安い家賃で賃貸する住宅があり、外国人の方にも申し込む
ことができます。
ただし、入居者が多い場合は、抽選により決定されます。

（1）契約開始の申込み
電気を使用する場合は、使用開始日の前日までに中部電力㈱受付センターへ申込みます。
申込みの際は、｢使用場所（住所）｣、｢名前（契約名義）｣、「使用開始日（入居日）」、「連絡先（電話番号）」
の確認があります。
（2）契約変更の申込み
契約内容（契約名義、契約容量、支払方法など）を変更する場合は、中部電力㈱受付センターへ申込みます。
（3）契約廃止の申込み
帰国や転居などにより廃止をする場合は、廃止の前日までに、中部電力㈱受付センターへ申込みます。
（4）電気料金
電気料金は、契約内容と使用量をもとに計算されます。

（1）How to Rent an Apartment
When private citizens rent a house or apartment, they ordinarily present their requirements to a real estate agent, who
then finds them a place.
Find a real estate agent in the area in which you’d like to live, tell them what you’re looking for in the way of monthly
rent, size of rooms, preferred mode of transportation, and so on, and then settle on a place once you’ve seen it.
It would also be a good idea to get a friend or a guarantor — either a Japanese native or someone from your company
— to provide assistance with the particulars of renting accommodations in Japan.
（2）Public Housing
Relatively cheap housing is available in Aichi Prefecture for those who have trouble finding a place to live, and foreigners
are eligible to apply for this.
However, if there are too many applicants, decisions are made on the basis of a lottery.
Several conditions apply in order to obtain this housing, so contact the organization below for more details.

2. Electricity
（1）Getting a Contract
To get electricity, you need to go to the Chubu Denryoku customer center to apply prior to the day you plan to start using
electricity.
When applying, you need to supply the location (your address), your name (the name that will go on the contract), the
start date (the day you move in), and a contact number (your phone number).
（2）Modifying a Contract
If you wish to modify some of the details of your contract (the customer name, electricity volume, method of payment,
etc.), you need to submit the changes at the Chubu Denryoku customer center.
（3）Terminating a Contract
If you have to terminate your contract, due to moving or leaving the country, you need to apply for termination at the
Chubu Denryoku customer center prior to the day your service ends.
（4）Your Electric Bill
Your electric bill is calculated according to the specifics of your electricity contract and the amount of electricity used.
○ Paying Your Electric Bill
Your electric bill can be paid via (1) bank account transfer, (2) a bill payment slip, or (3) by credit card.
There are special procedures involved in order to pay by bank account transfer or by credit card, so please inquire at
your bank, credit card company, or the service counter at Chubu Denryoku’s Tenpaku branch for more information.

4　水道
（1）使用開始申込み
アパート・マンション等に入居する場合、または一時休止となっている建物の水道を再度開始する場合は、７

支払いは、次の２つの方法があります。

3. Gas
（1）Types of gas and gas appliances
There are two types of gas available for household use: municipal gas and liquefied petroleum (“LP gas”).
It is hazardous to use an appliance with the wrong type of gas.
Municipal gas service is provided by Toho Gas, Nisshin Branch. LP gas can be obtained at various retail suppliers.
Please do not begin using gas until a safety check has been completed either by the gas company or by your LP gas
supplier.
（2）Discontinuing Your Gas Service
If you are moving or leaving the country and want to discontinue your gas service, you have to settle your final bill, so
please contact the gas company or supplier about one week prior to your move.

4. Water
（1）Applying for Water Service
When moving into an apartment or getting the water turned on in a building where service has been temporarily suspended, you must submit an application at least 7 days in advance.
（2）Paying the Water Bill
The water bill is due once every two months.
There are two ways it can be paid.
1）You can pay at one of the designated banks and financial institutions or at the counter at the convenience store.
2）You can arrange to have payment automatically withdrawn from your bank account.
（3）Suspending Water Service
If you are moving or will be absent for a long period and will not be using tap water, submit a request for suspension of
service 7 days in advance.

6　銀　行
日進市には、銀行、信用金庫、農業協同組合があり、そこで預金口座を開くことができます。
銀行窓口の営業時間は、午前９時から午後３時までとなっており、土曜日・日曜日・祝日は休みです。
（1）口座の開設
本人を証明できるもの（外国人登録証明書、パスポート、保険証など）と印鑑が必要です。
預金の種類は、いつでも出し入れが自由な｢普通預金｣、一定期間預ける｢定期預金｣、毎月一定額預ける｢積立
預金｣などがあります。
（2）キャッシュカード
キャッシュカードは、口座開設とともに銀行から希望者に提供されます。
その際、預金の引き出しのときに、必要な暗証番号（４桁）を銀行に届けることになっています。
営業時間外で窓口が閉まっていても、店内、店外にある現金自動預け払い機にキャッシュカードを入れて払い
戻しや預金、記帳、残高照会、振込みなどを行うことができます。
また、コンビニエンスストアにある現金自動預け払い機でも払い戻しや預金ができます。ただし、コンビニエ
ンスストアによって利用できる取り引きが違います。

7　郵便局
（1）郵便業務
郵便に関することは、郵便事業株式会社（日本郵便）（JP:JapanPost）が取り扱っています。
赤い「〒」がシンボルマークで、郵便局やポスト、切手などを売っている店にはすべてこのマークがついてい
ます。

To place a call using a public pay phone,lift the receiver, insert a 10-yen or 100-yen coin or a telephone card, and dial
the number you wish to reach. If you hear a beep sound while on the line and you wish to continue your call, you must
insert another coin or your telephone card.
（4）International Phone Calls
International phone calls may be placed directly from home phones and pay phones that are marked as capable of international calls.
The cost of the call and regions or countries calls may placed to can vary depending on the phone company. For more
information, please contact the phone company in question.
6. Banking
In Nisshin, there are banks, trusts, and farmers’ cooperatives where savings accounts can be opened.
Bank teller counters are open from 9 am to 3 pm and closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays.
（1）Opening an Account
You will need some personal identification (such as your Alien Registration Card, your passport, or your health insurance
card) and your personal seal.
There are several types of accounts, including: general deposit accounts, with which one may make deposits and withdrawals at any time; term deposit accounts in which money must be held for a certain period of time; and installment
savings accounts into which a fixed amount is deposited monthly.
（2）Debit Cards
Debit cards are issued to those applicants who want them when opening a bank account.
At that time, you will need to provide the bank with a four-digit pass code to use when withdrawing funds. Outside of normal banking hours when the teller windows are closed, there are automated teller machines located inside and outside
banks as well as at convenience stores where you can use your debit card to withdraw or deposit money, update your
passbook, check account balances, pay bills, and so on.
Payments and cash withdrawals can also be made at automated teller machines located at convenience stores.
However, the procedure will vary according to the convenience store. For more specifics regarding debit cards, please
talk to the bank directly.
7. The Post Office
（1）Postal Services
The Japan Post Service Co., Ltd. (Japan Post, or JP) handles mail in Japan.
Postal services, the sale of postage stamps, and so on are available wherever you see the post office’s red “〒” logo.
Post offices are set up in every city, town, and ward throughout Japan, and you can send mail from any post office to

（1）ごみの収集
日進市では、市民の生活環境を清潔に維持するために、家庭からでる「ごみ」を定期的に収集しています。一
部収集しないものもあります。
ごみは、収集日の当日の朝８時３０分までに決められたごみ集積所へお出しください。
収集日は、市役所環境課にある「ごみと資源のカレンダー」でわかります。

ごみは、前日の夜には出さないでください。

8. Garbage and Recycling
（1）Garbage Collection
In Nisshin, household garbage is collected on a regular basis in order to maintain a sanitary environment for our residents. There are also certain things that cannot be collected.
Garbage should be taken to your designated garbage collection site by 8:30 in the morning on garbage days.
Garbage days are indicated on the City Hall Environmental Department’s “Garbage and Recycling Calendar”.
(Versions of the calendar are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese.)
Please do not put out your garbage the night before garbage day.
Please be sure to use the city of Nisshin’s regulation garbage bags (which must be purchased).
Items that do not fit in a garbage bag can be collected if you put in a request for “oversized garbage pickup”
(reservation required).
You should try to obey all the rules and etiquette when you put out our garbage so as not to cause trouble for the neighborhood’s other residents.
○ Your Garbage and Recycling Drop-Off Stations
Please check with your neighbors or apartment manager to find out where your local garbage and recycling stations are.
（2）Separating and Putting Out Garbage
The City Hall Environmental Dept. puts out a pamphlet called “Separating and Putting Out Garbage”, and there is an
English version available. It has diagrams that make everything easy to understand, so please come and get one.
○ Burnable Waste [Kitchen garbage, paper trash, disposable diapers, wooden refuse, etc.]
Please put garbage intended for incineration into the city’s regulation “burnable” garbage bags (which must be purchased), tie up the bags, and put them out.
For food waste, try to drain off most of the water.
For disposable diapers, empty them of their waste first.
Please do not include plastics, styrofoam, food containers, or recyclable bottles in this garbage.
Garbage collection is done twice a week days of the week chosen for each neighborhood, even if they fall on national
holidays or makeup holidays.
○ Non-Burnable Waste [Ceramic refuse, metal refuse, glass refuse, small electronics, etc.]
Put garbage that cannot be incinerated into the city’s regulation “non-burnable” garbage bags (which must be purchased), tie up the bags, and put them out.

粗大ごみ収集をお願いするときは、粗大ごみ受付センター　0561-72-5300　に電話し、住所、氏名、電話番号、
粗大ごみの品目を予約してください。
１点につき５００円の処理券（黄色のシール）が必要です。処理券は、スーパーやコンビニエンスストアなど
の指定取扱店で購入してください。
処理券をみやすいところに貼り、当日の朝８時３０分までに指定された場所にお出しください。
毎月４回、地域ごとに決められた曜日に収集します。（祝日、振替休日も収集します。）
（3）資源回収
○びん・かん
【びん　国産ビールびん・一升びん（茶・緑・黒）、ジュースびん、食料びん、化粧びん（透明なものに限る）】

○ Oversized Garbage

Items too large to fit in the city’s regulation garbage bags are considered oversized garbage.
Oversized items are collected at your door, provided you have put in a request beforehand.
To request oversized garbage collection, call the Oversized Garbage Service Center at 0561-72-5300, and leave your
name, address, telephone number, and number of oversized items to schedule a pick-up.
For each item, you will require a ¥500 disposal voucher (a yellow sticker). These stamps can be purchased at supermarkets, convenience stores, and other designated retailers.
Affix the voucher to the item in a place where it will be easy to spot, and take it to the designated location on collection
day before 8:30 in the morning.
Oversized garbage collection is done four times a month on the day of the week chosen for each neighborhood, even if it
falls on a national holiday or makeup holiday.
（3）Recycling
○ Bottles and Cans

A recycling bin will be set up the day prior to bottle and can collection day. Please make sure all containers are empty

substances cannot be recycled.
Some neighborhoods might not have a bottle and can collection site.

you are buying its replacement to take it off your hands, and pay them the requisite recycling and handling fees.

○ Home Computer Recycling
If you want to get rid of a home PC, submit a recycling request to the manufacturer’s customer service counter. Products
that bear a recycling logo (computers sold since Oct. 1, 2003) will be accepted and recycled by the manufacturer free of
charge.
○ Motorcycle Recycling
To recycle old motorcycles and motor-assisted bicycles, submit a recycling request to the manufacturer’s customer service counter. Motorcycles that bear a recycling logo (those sold since Oct. 1, 2004) will be accepted and recycled by the

1　在留手続
（1）在留資格と在留期間
日本に入国し滞在しようとする場合は、入国の目的によって在留資格と在留期間が決められます。日本入国時
に決定された在留資格と在留期間は、パスポートに表示されます。在留資格は２７種類あり、決定された在留
資格に応じた活動以外の活動を行うことはできません。在留資格以外の活動するときや、在留期間をこえて滞

（2）在留資格変更許可
現在の在留資格と異なる別の在留資格による活動を行いたい場合は、在留期間内に在留資格変更の手続きをし

現在の在留資格により許可された活動範囲以外の就労活動により報酬を受ける活動を行う場合は、資格外活動
許可の手続きをしなければなりません。
（4）在留期間更新許可
現在の在留期間を更新して引き続き同じ活動をするために滞在する場合は、在留期間内に在留期間更新の手続
きをしなければなりません。
（5）再入国許可
現在の在留期間内に、一時的に日本を出国し再び日本に入国する場合は、出国前に「再入国許可」を受けてお
くと、再入国前に「入国査証」を取得する必要がなく、再入国後も引き続き同じ在留資格で在留できます。た
だし、再入国許可の期間は最長３年で（特別永住者は４年）、現在の在留期間を超えることはできません。な
お、再入国許可には、日本への出入国が１回限りの許可と、何回でも日本への出入国を繰り返すことのできる
数次再入国許可があります。
なお、平成２４年７月９日から始まる新しい在留管理制度により、再入国許可制度が変わります。
（6）在留資格取得許可
日本で出生した外国人または、日本国籍を離脱し日本に在留しつつ外国人になった者などは、その日から３０
日以内に在留資格取得の手続きが必要です。
日本で出生した場合、与えられる在留資格及び在留期間は、通常、親の在留資格、および在留期間に応じて決
定されます。
（7）永住許可
永住許可とは、在留期間及び活動に制限のない在留資格をいいます。
日本に永住を希望する場合には、永住許可の手続をしなければなりません。

2　市町村窓口での手続

1. Procedures for Staying in Japan
（1）Status of Residence and Period of Stay
When a person enters Japan for the purpose of residing here, a status of residence and length of stay are decided upon
according to that person’s purpose for coming. This status and period of stay are marked down in the individual’s passport during entry. There are 27 different types of immigration status, and the individual can only engage in those activithan those permitted or to stay in Japan longer than the period granted.
（2）Changing Your Status of Residence
If you would like to engage in activities allowed under a status of residence that differs from your current status, you
must follow the procedure to change your status of residence before your period of stay expires.
（3）Permission to Engage in Activities Outside Your Current Status
If someone wishes to engage in activities other than those permitted by his visa status in order to earn extra income, that
person must apply for permission to engage in activities not allowed by his current status.
（4）Extending Your Period of Stay
To extend your period of stay and continue carrying out your current activities, you must carry out the procedure for
extending your period of stay before your current period of stay expires.
（5）Re-entry Permission
If you plan to temporarily leave and return to Japan during your current permitted period of stay, then by obtaining a Reentry Permit prior to departure, you avoid being issued an exit visa when leaving the country, and upon return to Japan,
you may continue to reside under the same status as before. Re-entry permits are only valid for up to three years (four
for special permanent residents) and are not valid past the end of your period of stay. There are two types of re-entry
permits: those that allow a single re-entry into Japan, and those that allow multiple re-entries.
*Due to new Residence Management System starting from July 9, 2012, Re-Entry Permission System will be changed.
（6）Obtaining Status of Residence
In situations such as the birth of a child in Japan to non-Japanese parents or parents who have given up their Japanese
citizenship but continue to reside in Japan, procedures to gain status of residence must be followed within 30 days.
After giving birth, the infant’s status of residence and period of stay will normally be determined according to the mother’s status and period of stay.
（7）Permission for Permanent Residence
A permanent residence permit allows one to live in Japan without limitations on activities or length of stay.
If you plan to live in Japan permanently, you should follow the procedure for obtaining permanent resident status.

2. The Procedure at the Municipal Office

3　戸籍制度
（1）戸籍
戸籍は日本人の氏名、生年月日、父母との続柄、配偶者関係などの身分に関することを公証するものです。
結婚して婚姻の届出をすると、一般的には夫婦につき新戸籍が編成され、子どもが生れると、子どもはその戸
籍に入ります。外国籍の方については、戸籍編成はされませんが、日本での出生、死亡の際は、届出が必要で
す。また、婚姻、離婚、縁組、離縁について届出することもできます。
戸籍の届出について、添付書類が必要な場合があります。
（2）婚姻届
婚姻した場合、婚姻届を行う必要があります。届け出た日から法律上結婚したとされます。
日本人との場合は、本籍地、または居住地の市区町村の担当窓口に、または外国人同士の場合は、居住地の担
当窓口に届け出ます。
（3）離婚届
婚姻した場合と同様、届け出た日から法律上離婚したとされます。日本人との場合には本籍地、または居住地
の市区町村の担当窓口に、また外国人同士の場合は、居住地の担当窓口に届け出ます。

（2）Individuals Changing Their Address

With the launch of the Basic Resident Registration system for foreign residents, a change has been made from alien registration cards to special permanent resident cards and resident cards. The procedure for this can be conducted at the
following locations. Visit the Citizen Affairs office at City Hall or the Immigration Bureau to carry out this procedure.
• Special Permanent Residents: Please carry out the procedure at the municipal office of the area in which you live by
the next standard confirmation date for the alien registration card you currently possess.
• Permanent Residents and Specified Activity Individuals (with visas up to five years): Please carry out the procedure at
the Immigration Bureau.
• Other Individuals: Carry out the procedure at the Immigration Bureau.

3. The Family Resister System (The Koseki System)
（1）Family Register (Koseki)
The koseki, or family register, officially registers names, birth dates, parents, and spouses for Japanese citizens.
Generally, a new koseki is created when a marriage is registered; and when children are born, they are added to the
koseki. Foreign citizens do not get their own koseki; however, births and deaths must still be registered. Marriages,
divorces, adoptions, and adoption dissolutions can all be registered.
When registering a koseki, the attached documentation may be necessary.
（2）Marriage Registration
In the event of a marriage, marriage registration is a requirement. The marriage becomes legal and official on the day it
is registered.
When marrying a Japanese person, registration must be done at the service counter of the city or ward office where
either your Japanese spouse’s family register is kept or where you now reside; in the case of a marriage between two
foreigners, it must be done at the city or ward office where you reside.
（3）Divorce Registration
A divorce becomes legal and official for both parties as of the day it is registered. When divorcing a Japanese citizen, the
divorce should be registered with either the original family register office or the city or ward office where you currently
reside; in the case of two foreigners, the divorce is registered at the city or ward office where you reside.

4　印鑑登録
日本では、サインと同じ意味で印鑑が用いられ、確認したことを示すために押す認印と公的な重要な書類に押す実
印を使い分けます。
重要な書類などに用いる実印は、はんこう店に注文し作ってもらい、市役所に自分の印影を登録しておき必要に応
じて、その印鑑登録済みであることを証して（印鑑登録証明書）もらいます。
（1）印鑑登録をする
印鑑登録ができるのは、日進市内に住み外国人登録をしている１５歳以上の方です。
登録したい印鑑と外国人登録証明書を持参して、本人が市民課受付窓口に申請してください。印鑑登録手帳を
交付します。
この印鑑登録手帳は、印鑑登録証明書の交付を申請するときに必要ですから大切に保管してください。
日進市外から転入してきた場合には、それまでの印鑑登録は廃止され、新たに日進市で手続きをとっていただ
きます。
日進市外に転出するときは、印鑑登録手帳を返却しなければなりません。
（2）印鑑登録証明書
市役所の市民課受付窓口に、印鑑登録手帳（印鑑を持って来る必要はありません。）と、外国人登録証明書を

5　税金
○税金について
日本に住む人は、外国籍の人も日本人と同様に、納税の義務を負います。
所得に対する税金は、国が課する｢所得税｣と、都道府県市町村が課する｢住民税｣とに大別されます。
納税の方法には、事業を営んでいる人のように自ら所轄の税務署に申告して納める方法と、給与所得者のようにそ
の給与の支払い者が納める方法があり、後者の場合、所得税、市・県民税（住民税ともいう）は、給与所得者の場
合、通常は毎月の給与から自動的に差し引かれます。給与から差し引かれない人は、所得税を税務署へ、市・県民
税を市役所へ納付することが必要となります。
（1）所得税
○所得税とは
その年の１月から１２月までの所得に対して、国が課す税金です。
勤めている人の所得税は、通常、毎月の給料から自動的に差し引かれます。（これを源泉徴収、給与天引きと
もいいます。

（4）Birth Registration
Either the mother or father should present the infant’s birth certificate to the city or ward office of either the place where
the birth occurred or the area in which you reside, within 14 days of the birth (including the day of birth itself). Bring your
Maternal Health Handbook with you when doing so.If a foreign resident gives birth in Japan, when the birth is registered,
a certificate of residence will be created by the municipality of residence to designate a “temporary resident due to birth”.
If you will be residing in Japan beyond the 60-day period of the temporary residence, you will need to apply to obtain a

Deaths should be reported within 7 days of discovery to the city or ward office of either the deceased or of the person filing the report, who should be either a family member or someone else qualified under family registration law.
4. Personal Seal Registration
In Japan, a personal seal is used both to confirm one’s identity and to indicate one’s approval in important legal documents,
in the same way a signature is used elsewhere.
You should visit a hanko(seal) shop to get a seal for signing important documents made, and then take it to City Hall to register it. Following registration, you will receive an Inkan Toroku Shomeisho (seal registration certificate).
（1）Registering Your Seal
Anyone over 15 years of age and registered as a resident foreigner in Nisshin may register a personal seal.
Take the seal you wish to register and your alien registration card to the counter at the Residents’ Services Dept. to
apply for seal registration.
You will then be issued a seal registration book. You need this book in order to apply for a seal registration certificate, so
please keep it somewhere safe.
If you are moving to Nisshin from somewhere else, your previous seal registration is no longer valid and you must follow
the procedure for a new registration in Nisshin.

5. Taxes
○ About Taxes
Everyone living in Japan, both foreign citizens and Japanese citizens, must pay taxes.
Taxes based on your income include both the income tax (shotoku zei) levied by the national government and the residential
tax (jumin zei) levied by the city and prefecture.
Ways of paying taxes include declaring and paying money on your own to the local tax office in your jurisdiction as a business owner, or having your employer pay your taxes as an employee. In the latter case, as an income earner, you will normally get income tax and city/prefectural tax (residential tax) deducted from your wages automatically. Those who don’t get
tax automatically deducted must pay income and residential taxes to the tax office on their own.
（1）Income Tax (Shotoku Zei)
○ What Is Income Tax?
Income tax is a tax levied by the national government on income earned from January to December.
Employees ordinarily get a certain amount automatically deducted from their monthly salary to cover income tax. This is

residence visa within 30 days of birth at the local immigration bureau.

○源泉徴収票
その年の１月から１２月の給与総額と、支払った所得税額などが記載されており、翌年１月末日までに、事業
主から交付されます。年の途中で会社をやめた場合は、退職の日から１ケ月以内に、源泉徴収票を事業主から
受け取ります。
源泉徴収票は、税金を国に納めたことを証明する書類です。在留資格の更新手続きなどの際に、必要になりま
すので、大切に保管してください。
○年末調整
毎月給与から差し引かれる所得税については、毎年末に、総所得額や、支払った保険料などにより、調整が行
われます。所得税の過不足が生じた場合は、精算されます。これらの手続きは、雇用主が行います。
海外にいる家族も、扶養家族として認められる場合がありますので、詳しくは税務署にお問い合わせください。
年末調整後、１２月３１日までに、子どもが生まれたり、保険に加入した場合、翌年の１月末日までに、年末
調整の再調整をすることができます。
これらの手続きについては、雇用主が行いますので、変更が生じた場合は、速やかにお届けください。
（2）確定申告
○確定申告とは
確定申告とは、前年の１月１日から１２月３１日の１年間で得た所得について、確定した金額を計算し、その
所得金額に対して税額を算出し、申告することです。
所得税が給与から天引きされていない人や、２ケ所以上から給与を受けている人、給与以外に所得のある人な
どは、翌年の２月１６日から３月１５日までに、近くの税務署で｢確定申告｣をする必要があります。
○確定申告に必要なもの　①前年の所得を証明するもの（源泉徴収票や証明書）
②扶養控除に必要なもの（本国にいる扶養者の出生証明や送金証明）
③保険料控除に必要なもの（保険の控除証明書）
④外国人登録証明書　⑤印鑑またはサイン
⑥本人名義の通帳
○税金の還付
多額の医療費を支払った場合や、災害や盗難などにより、住宅や家財に損害を受けたり、災害に関連してやむ
を得ない支出をした人、マイホームを新たに取得した人、年間収入がアルバイト程度で低い人などは、税務署
に確定申告をすると、税金の一部が返ってくることがあります。この確定申告は、２月１５日以前でも税務署
で受け付けています。
在留資格の更新や変更のときに、確定申告の写しが必要となる場合があります。

Tax rates and applicability for foreigners depend on whether you are a resident or non-resident. (A resident is considered someone who has a residence and lives in Japan and has done so continuously for at least a year).
The income tax rate for foreign residents is the same as that for normal Japanese citizens.
For non-residents, excluding those covered by a tax exemption due to tax treaties, the tax rate is 20% of income as a rule.
○ Statement of Taxes Withheld at the Source (Gensen Choshu Hyo)

A Statement of Taxes Withheld at the Source serves as proof of taxes paid to the national government. Please keep it
somewhere safe, as you will be required to show it when applying to renew your immigration status.
○ Year-End Adjustment (Nenmatsu Chosei)
At the end of the year, adjustments are made based on your total income earned and the amount that was paid in taxes.
If the amount paid in taxes is found to be insufficient, the difference will have to be paid. Your employer is responsible for
these procedures.
If you have family members overseas who are recognized as dependents, please inquire at the tax office regarding
them.
If, between the time your year-end adjustment is done and December 31 a child is born and you have health insurance,
you have until the end of the following January to re-adjust your year-end adjustment.
Your employer is responsible for handling these procedures, so please notify your employer promptly if your year-end
adjustment needs to be changed.
（2）Income Tax Returns (Kakutei Shinkoku)
○ What Is an Income Tax Return?
Your income tax return is a form you file that tallies the total income you earned the year before, from January 1 to
December 31, and calculates the total income tax for that amount.
Those who have not had income tax withheld from their salaries, those who have worked two or more different jobs, and
those who have had sources of income other than their salaries, must file an income tax return with the nearest tax office
between February 16 and March 15 of the following year.
○ What Is Needed to File an Income Tax Return?
1）Proof of your previous year’s income (a withholding statement or certificate)
2）Documents required for dependent exemptions (birth certificates for dependents in Japan, or proof of remittances to
dependents abroad)
3）Documents required for health insurance exemptions (health insurance payment receipts)
4）Your alien registration card
5）Your personal seal or signature
6）A bank passbook under your name
○ Tax Refunds
In case you have had large medical bills to pay, you have suffered from a disaster or burglary, your house or property
have been damaged, you have incurred unavoidable expenses due to a disaster, you have purchased a new home, or
your year-long income has been no better than that of a part-time job, you might be able to file a tax return with the tax
office and have some of your taxes refunded. Applications for this purpose can be made to the tax office earlier than
February 15.
When renewing or changing your status of residence, you might be required to provide a copy of your final tax return.

（3）市・県民税
○市・県民税とは
前年の所得に対して、日進市と愛知県が課す税金です。
国籍にかかわらず、毎年１月１日現在に、日進市に住所を持つ人に課税されます。
税額は、前年の所得をもとに、日進市で決定し、５月から６月の間に直接、または会社を通じて、本人へ通知
されます。
給与所得者の場合は、６月から翌年５月まで、１２回に分割された税額が、毎月の給与から天引きされます。
市・県民税が、毎月の給与から自動的に引かれない方や自営業者の方などは、日進市から納税通知書が届きま
すので、納期限までに銀行などの金融機関の窓口でお支払いください。
○納税証明書、所得証明書
在留資格の変更や、保育園等に子どもを入園させるとき、公営住宅に入居を申し込むときなど、収入を証明す
る書類が必要となります。
収入を証明する書類が必要な人は、市役所税務課に申請してください。
また、納税を証明する書類が必要な人は、市役所収納課に申請してください。
○納税が困難なときは
災害を受けたり、特別な事情で納税が困難なときは、納税の猶予や減免、または免除を受けられる場合があり
ます。
○滞納すると
税金を期限までに納めないと、納期限の翌日から納めた日までに応じて、延滞金がかかります。

（3）Residential Tax (Shi/Kenmin Zei)
○ What is Residential Tax?
Residential tax is tax levied by the city of Nisshin and Aichi Prefecture based on your previous year’s income.
It is levied on all residents of Nisshin on the first of January each year regardless of nationality.
The city of Nisshin determines the total tax amount based on your previous year’s income and will notify you between
May and June either directly or through your employer. Salaried employees will have their tax total, calculated for June
through May of the following year, divided by 12 and deducted from their salary each month.
Self-employed workers and others who do not have the amount automatically deducted from their monthly salaries will
receive a residential tax notice from the city of Nisshin, which they must pay before the due date through a bank or post
office teller.
○ Tax Payment Certificates (Nozei Shomeisho), Income Certificates (Shotoku Shomeisho)
Proof of your income is necessary when renewing or changing your status of residence, entering your child in a preschool, or applying for public housing.
If you require documents to provide proof of your income, please apply to the tax office (Zeimuka) at City Hall.
If you require documents to provide proof that your taxes have been paid, please apply to the records office (Shunoka)
at City Hall.
○ Difficulty Paying Taxes
If paying your taxes becomes a problem due to a disaster, or other exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to
receive a deferment, reduction, or exemption for your taxes.
○ Nonpayment of Taxes
If you do not pay your taxes by the due date, late fees will be applied from the day following the due date until the date
your taxes are paid.
If nonpayment continues, you may be subject to asset seizure or other collection methods.

（2）医療機関（病院・診療所）

医療機関の基礎知識
○かかりつけの医者を持ちましょう
近所の診療所（医院）に、日頃から何でも相談できるかかりつけの医者を持つことが大切です。
軽い症状のときは、まず地域の診療所で診療を受け、重い病気や原因がわからない症状に陥ったときなどは、
その診療所の紹介で専門医院にかかり、専門的な治療をすることを勧めています。
○病院・医院で注意すること
①ことばで不安のある時は、通訳できる人を同行しましょう。　②わからないことは、すぐに聞きましょう。
③診察結果や薬などについては、わかりやすく言葉で、理解できるまで、医師に説明を求めましょう。　④予約時間や、面会時間は守ってください。
⑤病院・医院内では、携帯電話やＰＨＳは使用しないでください。　⑥入院費用など、困ったことがあるとき、または利用できる制度がわからないときは、病院に相談してくださ
い。また、ソーシャルワーカーがいる病院では、ソーシャルワーカーに相談してください。
⑦日本の制度は、自分から請求しないと受給できないことが多いので、制度や仕組みについて、自分で知るこ

（2）Hospitals (Byoin) and Clinics (Shinryojo)
Medical institutions in Japan be categorized into and clinics (shinryojo) hospitals (byoin) according to size.
Clinics are located close to residences and have long provided family health and consultation services. However, they
often lack the size and facilities necessary to perform tests or major surgery.
Hospitals have numerous specialized medical departments and are well-equipped with plenty of staff, but waiting periods
are sometimes long due to the large number of patients seen on a daily basis, and they currently find it difficult to
reserve sufficient time for patient consultations.
In addition, medical institutions vary according to their medical specialties and other characteristics, so we recommend
that Nisshin residents inquire regarding the facilities that are available near their homes.
Basic Information Regarding Hospitals and Clinics
○ Having a Personal Doctor
It has always been important to have a personal doctor at a nearby clinic or doctor’s office with whom you can consult
for any reason.
If you start seeing minor symptoms of an illness, you can get examined at a local clinic; and if the symptoms develop into
major ones or the cause of your symptoms cannot be ascertained, a doctor at the local clinic will introduce you to a specialist medical clinic where you can receive specialized treatment.
○ Things to Note Regarding Hospitals and Clinics
1）If you are worried about trying to communicate in Japanese, bring along someone who can interpret.
2）Do not hesitate to ask questions regarding anything you don’t understand.
3）Have your doctor explain your exam results and medications in a manner as easy to understand as possible, until
you are satisfied you understand.
4）Be sure to be at your appointments on time and stick to proper visiting hours.
5）Cell phones and PHS phones may not be used on hospital and clinic premises.
6）Please talk to someone at the hospital if your medical bills present a problem or if you do not understand how the
system works. If there are social workers at the hospital, please consult with them.
7）In many cases under the Japanese system, you cannot receive financial assistance if you do not apply for it yourself,
so it’s very important that you learn for yourself how the system is set up. You can discuss anything you don’t understand with a social worker. Consultations are free of charge and your privacy is protected, so it is a good idea to

2　医療保険
日本では、本人やその家族が病気やケガで、医療機関にかかったとき、医療費の一部を支払うだけで、残りはあら
かじめ加入しておいた医療保険が支払ってくれる、公的な医療保険制度が設けられています。
この制度にはいくつかの種類がありますが「健康保険」と「国民健康保険」がその中心になっています。
（1）健康保険

（2）国民健康保険
○国民健康保険制度
国民健康保険は、会社や事業所などの健康保険に加入できない方々が、病気やケガをしたとき、経済的負担を
少しでも軽くするため、被保険者（加入者）が保険税を出し合う医療保険制度です。
○加入方法
日進市に住んで外国人登録をし、在留期間が１年以上で、会社や事業所の健康保険に加入できない人は、日進
市国民健康保険に加入しなければなりません。
ただし、旅行者や１年未満の短期滞在者や外交官の方は、加入することはできません。しかし、在留期間が１
年未満でも、今後、在留期間の更新で１年以上日本に滞在する方は、加入することができます。この場合は、
学校や勤務先などの証明書が必要となります。
※　平成２４年７月９日からは在留期間が３ヶ月を超える人は加入対象になります。
○保険証
国民健康保険に加入すると、保険証が1人に１枚ずつ交付されます。
保険証は病院や診療所で診療を受けるときに必要となりますので大切に取り扱うようにしてください。
また、紛失したり破れたりしたときは、再交付の手続きをしてください。自分で書き直したり、コピーしたも
の、保険者印のないものは使えません。
保険証は、被保険者（加入者）以外使えません。他人に貸したりすると法律により罰せられます。
○保険税の決め方・納め方
保険税は、世帯（家族）の収入や人数などを基にして計算しますので、世帯によって異なります。また、年度
によっても変わることがあります。

2. Medical Insurance
Japan has a public health insurance system in place whereby someone admitted to a medical facility for illness or injury pays
only a portion of the medical bill, with the rest being covered by the health insurance plan that person is enrolled in.
This system includes several types of insurance, but the main ones are Employee’s Health Insurance (Kenko Hoken) and
National Health Insurance (Kokumin Kenko Hoken).
（1）Employee’s Health Insurance (Kenko Hoken)
Employee’s Health Insurance is insurance that covers an individual who works at a company or other business as well
as that person’s family.
The insurance premiums are split 50-50 between the insured individual and the employer. If that individual is admitted to
Foreigners may enroll in Employee’s Health Insurance so long as their immigration status and period of stay permits
employment, but those enrolled in Employee’s Health Insurance also have to enroll in Employee’s Pension Insurance
(Kosei Nenkin Hoken). The heatlh insurance system will vary according to the company, so you should request more
information from the manager at your company in charge of insurance or from the Aichi branch of the National Health
Insurance Association (formerly the Social Insurance Office).

（2）National Health Insurance
○ National Health Insurance System
The National Health Insurance System was put in place to share the cost of insurance tax with insurance enrollees in
order to lighten the financial burden for individuals who seek treatment for sickness or injuries but are not covered by
Employee’s Health Insurance at their company or workplace.
○ How to Enroll
Foreign residents of Nisshin whose period of stay is a year or more but cannot enroll in Employee’s Health Insurance
through their employer must enroll in the Nisshin National Health Insurance plan.
Travelers, short-term residents staying for less than a year, and diplomatic personnel cannot enroll. However, residents
with short-term visas who are planning to extend their period of stay to more than a year may enroll. If that is the case,
you will need to have a school ID or work ID.
*From July 9, 2012 onward, anyone with a period of residence exceeding three months is eligible for enrollment.
○ Health Insurance Cards
Each individual enrolled in the National Health Insurance plan receives a health insurance card.
You will need this card whenever you receive a medical examination or treatment at a hospital or clinic, so please take
good care of it.
If you lose or damage your card, you will have to apply for a new card to be issued. Reproductions or photocopies of the
card that don’t bear the insured individual’s seal cannot be used.
Health insurance cards may not be used by anyone other than the insured individual. Lending your card to another person is punishable by law.
○ Calculating and Paying Insurance Tax
Insurance tax is calculated based on factors such as household income and number of people insured and will vary from

請をしてください。
○高額療養費の支給
１ケ月の自己負担額が一定額を超えたとき、超過した金額が支給されます。
○子どもが生まれたとき
被保険者（加入者）が出産したときは、１人につき出産育児一時金が支給されます。
○被保険者が死亡したとき
被保険者（加入者）が死亡したとき、葬祭を行った人に支給されます。
○脱退
次の項目に該当する場合は、１４日以内に国民健康保険の脱退手続きを行い、保険証の返還と保険税の精算を
行ってください。
①日進市から転出をするとき（新しい市区町村で転入手続きをして、国民健康保険に加入してください）
②勤め先の健康保険に入ったとき（勤務先からもらった保険証と国民健康保険の保険証を持参してください）
③死亡したとき
④出国するとき（出国前に保険証の返還と保険税を精算する手続きを行ってください。）

With your health insurance card, you can receive medical treatment at a clinic or hospital that accepts national health
insurance.
At that time, you will have to pay for 30% of the total hospital bill, while the remaining 70% will be paid to the clinic or
hospital by the Nisshin National Insurance plan.
2）Receiving Treatment Without Showing Your Card
If you receive medical treatment without being able to show your card, you initially pay the hospital the full amount, but
afterward, if you submit the necessary documentation to the health insurance department, you will be granted a refund
for 70% of the hospital bill after the submission has been examined.
3）Other
If, on the instructions of a physician, you require the use of special equipment for medical purposes (e.g. a medical
corset), you can apply to have your insurance cover a portion of the cost.
○ High-Cost Medical Treatment Assistance
If your monthly personal medical costs exceed a certain fixed amount, anything over that amount will be covered by your
insurance.
○ Childbirth

When your child is born, you should send, or deliver to the service counter of the Health Center in person, the Birth

If a premature baby (an infant weighing less than 2,000 g or unable to survive on its own at birth) requires hospitalization

1　国民年金
国民年金は、被保険者（加入者）の保険料と国の負担によって国が責任を持って管理・運営するもので、被保険者
が老齢になったとき、ケガや病気によって障害者となったとき、死亡したときに一定の条件を満たしていれば年金
を支給して、生活の安定が損なわれないようにする制度です。
国民年金の対象者は、会社・団体などに就職すると自動的に加入することになる被保険者年金制度（厚生年金・共
済年金など）に加入していない２０歳以上６０歳未満のすべての人で、日本に住む外国人も対象になります。
２０歳から６０歳までの間に２５年以上保険料を納めれば、老齢基礎年金の給付を受けることができますが、外国
人などは次の期間も基礎年金の資格期間とみなされます。

1. National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin)
The National Pension Plan is managed and administered by the national government through the premiums paid by pension
enrollees and additional national funding. It provides financial assistance for enrollees who meet the standard requirements
of old age, disability due to injury or illness, or death, in order to ensure a stable and secure lifestyle.
Those eligible for the National Pension Plan include all residents of Japan, including foreigners, who are between the ages of
20 and 59 and not enrolled in a pension system (such as the employee welfare program or the mutual aid pension program)
in which employees of companies and organizations are automatically enrolled.
Those between the ages of 20 and 59 who have paid pension premiums for 25 years or more can receive old-age pension,
but the time periods given below are also considered to count toward a foreigner’s basic pension.
For naturalized Japanese citizens and foreigners with permanent residence permits between the ages of 20 and 59, the following time periods count toward pension totalization.
1）Living in Japan as a foreigner between April, 1961, and December, 1981.

The insurance premiums paid by those who are 65 or older are determined according to one’s income level and deducted from one’s annual pension.
If someone in this bracket requires daily nursing care (yokaigo-jotai) or has difficulties in spite of being able to handle
daily life and requires assistance (yoshien-jotai), that individual may qualify to receive nursing care services.

are calculated and paid together with medical insurance premiums. People in this bracket may only be approved for care

1　日本の教育制度
日本の教育制度は、小学校６年、中学校３年、高等学校３年、大学４年が基本です。
学校は、４月から始まり、翌年３月で１学年が終了します。

1. The Japanese Education System
The Japanese education system is based upon 6 years of elementary school, 3 years of junior high school, 3 years of senior
high school, and 4 years of university.
The school year runs from April until March of the following year.
Elementary school and junior high school are compulsory, and enrollment in elementary school is expected for children who
will be six years old as of April 1st.
Many children attend kindergarten or day-care (preschool) prior to beginning elementary school.
As a rule, students wishing to enter senior high school or university must sit for entrance examinations.

Japanese parents are obligated to send their school-aged children to school.
Foreigners, if they wish, may send their children to elementary and junior high school as well.
Every year, foreigners whose children reach school age will be send a school attendance notice (shugaku tsuchisho) from

With regard to school fees, tuition, courses, and textbooks for public elementary schools and junior high schools are all free
of charge, but the costs of other educational materials, field trips, school trips, and so on must be borne by the child’s

1　公共交通機関
（1）鉄道
市内には、名鉄（名古屋鉄道）豊田線、名古屋市営地下鉄鶴舞線があります。
駅の自動券売機で目的地までの切符を買い、改札口で自動改札機に通すか、駅員に切符を見せ、入場します。
電車を降りたら、改札口で切符を自動改札機に入れるか駅員に渡して駅を出ます。乗り越しや切符をなくした
場合には、精算書で料金を払います。
（2）バス
○路線バス
日進市内には、多くのバス路線があります。
｢行先｣は、バスの正面に書いてあります。経路や停留所の位置は、それぞれ違いますので、よく確認してから
乗ってください。
料金の支払い方法は、現金、ＩＣカード、定期券があります。
乗るときは、中央、または後部のドアを使います。その際、現金、定期券の場合は、整理券を取ります。整理
券は、バス停留所の番号を示しています。ＩＣカードを利用される場合は、乗車時、カードリーダーにカード
をかざします。
降りる時は、目的地の停留所のアナウンスがあったら、合図ボタンを押します。
料金は、バスの前部の表示板に整理券の番号に応じて示され、現金の場合は、運賃と整理券を運転手横の料金
箱に入れて、前部のドアから降ります。
定期券の場合は、整理券を運賃箱に入れ、定期券を運転手に見せます。
ＩＣカードを利用の場合は、降車時、カードリーダーにカードかざします。
○くるりんばす
日進市では、市内の公共公益施設などを利用する際の利便性を図るため、くるりんばすを運行しています。
市役所を発着点とし、７コース（東・西・南・北・中・東南・南西）と、赤池駅・長久手古戦場駅を結ぶ中央
線1コースの合計8コースを運行しています。
｢運行コース｣は、バスの正面・背面・側面に書いてあります。経路や停留所の位置は、それぞれ違いますので、
よく確認してから乗ってください。
料金の支払い方法は、現金、ICカード乗車券（manaca）、高齢者定期券（市内在住の６５歳以上の方に限り１
ケ月1,000円で購入ができます。）があります。

乗るときに、後部のドアを使います。
料金は、1乗車１００円（ただし、中央線のみ1乗車２００円）です。
また、次の市内在住の皆さんは無料になります。
①中学生以下の子ども

②身体障害者手帳、療育手帳、精神障害者保健福祉手帳の交付を受けている方並びに介護保険法による介護認
定（要支援も含む）を受けている方と付き添いの方１名（証明書等の提示の必要はありません。）

1. Public Transit
（1）Rail
Rail transit within the city includes the Meitetsu (Nagoya Railway) Toyota Line and the Nagoya Subway Tsurumai Line.
Tickets for your destination are purchased at the station from automated ticket machines; you then either use the ticket
to pass through the automated wicket, or show your ticket to a station attendant to gain access to the boarding platform.
Upon getting off the train, you once again insert your ticket into the automated wicket or hand it to a station attendant in
order to leave the station. If you purchase insufficient fare for the distance you are traveling or you lose your ticket, you
will have to pay the difference at your destination.
（2）Buses
○ Fixed-Route Buses
There are numerous bus routes within Nisshin.
Each bus’s destination is indicated on the front of the bus. The route taken and the stops the bus stops at vary from bus
to bus, so please check before getting on.
Methods of payment include cash,IC cards, and commuter passes.
When boarding the bus, use the center or rear doors. If paying with cash or a commuter pass, take a number ticket as
you board. The number ticket indicates the bus stop number of the bus stop where you boarded. If paying with an IC
card, hold it up to the card scanner when you board.
To get off, when you hear the automated bus stop announcement announce your stop, press the stop-request button.
Bus fares are shown on a sign board at the front of the bus, and your fare corresponds to the bus stop number at which
you boarded. If paying by cash, insert your fare and the number ticket into the fare machine beside the bus driver and
exit by the front door.
If using a commuter pass, insert the number ticket into the fare machine and show the commuter pass to the driver. If
using an IC card, hold it up to the card scannerbefore getting off.
○ Circuit (Kururin) Buses
Buses that follow a circuit through Nisshin have been added in order to make accessing the city’s public services more
convenient.
There are 7 routes that arrive at and depart from City Hall — north, south, east, west, central, southeast, and southwest
— and a central line that connects the Akaike and Nagakute Kosenjo train stations for a total of 8 bus routes.
The bus’s route is indicate on the front, rear, and side of the vehicle. The exact route taken and stops the bus stops at
may vary, so please check before getting on.
Methods of paying include cash, IC passes (Manaca cards) and senior citizen commuter passes (available only to city

2. Automobiles

In order to obtain a driver’s license or exchange your old license, you need to take a driver’s license exam.
Foreigners who possess a driver’s license from their home country and meet the requirements may take the driver’s
license exam in order to obtain a Japanese driver’s license. The exam consists of a knowledge test and an actual driving

There are two ways to go about acquiring a driver’s license in Japan: one is to attend classes at a driving school, graduate, and then take the academic exam at the driver’s license site (exempting you from the practical exam); the other is to
