Introduction to Academic Writing (Pearson Longman)
Time table for each class
About 15 mins Vocabulary test (The performance will be included in your final grade. If
you miss this test, your attendance score will be downgraded.)
About 15 mins Practice for the TOEIC test
About 10 mins Listening to authentic online news (BBC, VOA, CNN etc)
About 50 mins Academic writing
Evaluation
(a) TOEIC-IP: 30%
(b) Final Exam: 30%
(c) Assignments: 20%
(d) Vocabulary Test Scores & Attendance: 20%
Notes
Lecture attendance is tracked and monitored. If you miss three lessons in a semester (six in
total), you will be automatically dropped from this class.
It is important to regularly check the course website and download the weekly assignments.
Course Outline
For each week there is a set exercise. In order to make an intelligent contribution, you will need to
finish the required reading and writing assignments before class. You will need to keep up with these
assignments on a weekly basis.
