観光産業はグアムにとって最大の産業であり、急速な発展を続けて
おりま魂 95年 においては各l・lか ら140万 人の旅行者がグアムを訪れ、
うち日本人旅行者は約1∞ 万人となりました。96年 においても、最新の
統計が示す通り旅行者数は昨年をさらに 11回 る勢いで増えており、最
終的には今年度日標の150万 人に達するものと信じております
グアム、この楽国の島は観光産業基盤における数 々の開発とともに
発展を続けておりま魂 新規ホテルや多数の観光アトラクションの誕生
にようて、グアムは旅行者を魅 rし 続け、また、選ばれた7jl光 デスティネ
ーションとしてのグアムのイメージが構築されつつあります さらに 11本
から僅か3時 間という近さ、南国ならではの常夏の気候も手近でリラッ
クスできるリゾートを求めている旅行者にとって大きな魅力にほかなり
ません。

受け入れ可能 な施設
グアム・ホテル&レ ストラン協会には、従業員
数約 10,000人 を擁する135社 以上の企業 が加
盟し、グアム観光産業の一翼を担っています。グ
アムの観光産業は過去25年 間にわたちて発展を
続け、1995年 における旅行者数は140万 人に達
し、過去最高とな ました。こうした発展はグアム
と日本、そして日本の投資企業とのパートナーシ
ップによってもたらされたものであります。

グアムは現在、約6,500室 のホテル客室を有
しています力ヽカール・ToC・ ギタレス知事の助力
により、来るべく発展に向けて策定されたビジョ
ン2001計 画では、2000年 までに年間200万 人
の旅行者を受け入れられるホテル建設を目標と
しています。この目標 を成し遂げるためには今後
すcま た、知事は経済開発局に対して、グアムに
おける観光施設建設ならびに整備に興味を持 つ
開発業者 に対して協力していくよう要請していま
3年 間において、グアムのインフラ整備を進める
き、旅行業界 に対しては同計画に関する情報の
提供 ならびに助言を積極的に行っていく所存で
すc

羊細については、グアム・ホテル&レ ストラン
とともにホテル客室5,600室 の新設、新規アトラ
クションの建設を進めていかなくてはなりません。
このためグアム政府では、ホテルの新設、増設
を行う投資企業 に対して、税制 の優遇措置を提
供すべく、新法案 の策定、実施 を検討していま

向上 を目指 す年
95年 のグアムは、日本 、韓国の両マーケット
が大きな伸びを示し活況を極めました。しかし、そ
の一方でホテル供給 が需要に追いつかず、ホテ
ル不足という問題 が浮上してきました。96年 はこ
れに、新業法の施行によるホテル・ブロッケージ
の抑制が加わり、ホテル確保 がさらに難しくなる
ものと予想されます。特に増加傾向にある大型
クループの受け入れが、従来のようにスムーズに
はイ
予かなくなることが懸念されます。限られたブロ
ッケージ内で、いかに効率良く販売していくか。ホ
テルとエージェントとのより密なコミュニケーショ
ンが望まれるところです。96年 もグアムヘのマー
・二―ズはさらに高まっていくものと思われ

しているにもかかわらず、日本語が話せ、理解で
きる人材が今のクアムには不足し、結果、サービ
スの低下を引き起こしています。この問題解決の
一策として私どもでは、オーストラリアのワーキン
グホリディのような新労働システムをグアムにも
街作 りを積極 的に提案 していきたいと考 えていま
す。
グアム人 気 の上昇 に甘 んずることなく、96年
は、」GTA、 GHRA、 GVB、 そして政府 が力を併
せて、将 来 の 良 い姿 のグアムを作 るべ く努 力を
する年 だと思います。

ミクロネシア初 の海中展 望塔
フィッシュアイ・マリンパークが
オープン
タモン地区の中心部から車で約 15分 、ダイビングスポットとしても
知られるピティ湾 のボムホールにミクロネシア初の海中展望施設を備
マリンパーク」がこの4月 にオープンした。同パー
「フィッシュアイ。

クは海中展望室のある海上施設と、シアターレストラン、ショップ、ウ
ェディングチャベルなどを備えた陸上施設とで構成される複合エンタ
ーテイメント施設。“STAY DRY(濡 れずに)"を テーマとした海 中展
望を売り物に、食事、ショッピングなど多彩なサービスを提供する。
海中展望室はビティ湾 の沖合い約300mに 建つ全高22mの 円筒形
タワーの水深 10m部 分にあり、一度 に100名 の収容能力を持 つ。壁
面には大小24の 窓が設置され、そこから海 の中を観察する仕組みだ。
このタワーが建つ部分はもともとはダイビングスポットのボムホールと
して知られ、透明度 が高く、珊瑚や魚も豊富 なところ。熱帯の様 々な
魚を見ることができることに加え、ダイバーによる餌付けショーも楽し
める。一方、海上部分 には海上展望施設もあり、こちらからはグアム
の一番 のサンセットを満喫できる。

オンワードアガニアビーチホテルの敷地内にこのほど、波のプール
や各種ウォータースライダーなど多彩なプール施設を備えた「オンワー
・ウォーターパーク」がオープンした。同パ ークは敷地面積 2万

ルや流れるプールなど大小5つ のプール、4種 類 のウォータースライダ
ー、レストラン、ションプ、ウエディングチャベルなどを備えた本格的ウ
ォーターアミューズメント施設。水深30cmの 幼児用のプールも備え、
子供から大人まで幅広 い年齢層 が一 日中楽しむことができる。
プール施設は全長50m、 幅36mの 造波プールを中心に、全長360m
の流れるプール、屋根付きプール、リラクゼーションプール、幼児用 プ
ールの5種 類 があり、最大の目玉はやはり最大波高 12mの 波が楽し
める造波プール。ビッグウェープを利用して今人気のブギーボードも楽
しめるとあって、早くも話題を呼んでいる。
一方、ウォータースライターは、ボディースライダーの開放型 (全 長
76m)と 閉鎖型 (全 長61m)、 2人 乗 スライダー(全 長80m)、 3人 乗り
スライダー(全 長91m)の 4種 類。いずれも落差 9mの スリリンクなスラ
イディングを楽しめるのが売り物だ。
パーク内にはこのほか、イベントステージやハンモックエリア、サン
