公開講演会平成 28 年度福岡大学大学院高度化推進特別経費英語の多様性ジャック・デュラン来る！ Prof. Jacques Durand (University of Toulouse) Variation in English, Linguistics and Corpora 英語の多様性、言語学、コーパス、ワールド・イングリッシュ The purpose of this lecture is to give an overview of variation in English, focusing mainly on spoken usage. The range of variation across and within varieties of English throughout the world is first of all illustrated at various levels of linguistic description: vocabulary, morphology, syntax, semantics and discourse. Thereafter variation is examined with special reference to pronunciation (phonology and phonetics). It will be shown how the construction of modern corpora can help us understand better what is stable and what is variable in spoken usage. 本講演では、世界の英語の多様性とはどのようなものであるかを様々な言語記述のレベル（語彙、形態、意味、談話など）ごとに例示し、発音面での多様性に焦点を絞る。さらに、現代コーパスの構築が英語の音声使用における安定性と変異性の理解に如何に寄与するかを示す。 Prof. Jacques Durand is Professor Emeritus of Linguistics at the University of Toulouse in France. He has published extensively in phonology with special reference to English and French. His recent publications include the coediting of The Oxford Handbook of Corpus Phonology (2014) and The Pronunciation of Contemporary English throughout the World: Variation and Structure (in French, 2015).
