SEPTEMBER 17, 2002, MEETING OF THE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
COMMITTEE
DISCUSSION: The Buildings and Grounds Committee met on
September 17, 2002, to review 1) architect selections for the
Cocke Hall Renovation project and Rouss Hall Renovation /
Commerce School project, 2) architectural design guidelines for
the Crockett Hall Renovation project at The University of
Virginia’s College at Wise and for the Health Sciences Center
Parking Structure project, 3) an easement at Blandy Farm, 4)
conveyance of air rights for the Emmet Street Bridge, and 5) the
preliminary design for the new Arena. The Vice President for
Management and Budget outlined a new capital outlay management
policy and gave an update on the Emmet Street Parking Garage.
The meeting ended with a report on facility conditions in the
Housing System and with a discussion on Jeffersonian
architecture led by Mr. Richard Guy Wilson, Commonwealth
Professor in the University’s Department of Architectural
History.
