Explain Holy Week to the Children
Sometimes the children can consider all these celebrations somewhat long and boring.
Try to incorporate the children as much as possible, and procure that they see all
actions well.
Celebration:
Converse with them about the different moments of these days.
• Holy Week: Tell the story about Jesus’ supper and how in his farewell to his
friends, Jesus wants to leave them a mission, to serve one another, which is symbolized in the washing of the feet. Explain to them the meaning of going to the
churches, as a reminder of the entire way that Jesus walked on this night, accompanied by his pain.
• Good Friday: Speak to the children about the Passion of Jesus and explain the
different scenes they are going to see on the Way of the Cross. Talk to them afterward, about how in the Church celebration we adore the cross in gratitude to Jesus for surrendering himself for us.
• Easter Vigil: There are many important symbols in the Easter Vigil. Speak to
them, especially about light and water.
Discipleship
•
Speak with the children about the things they want to do to demonstrate to Jesus
that they are grateful for everything he did for us. What services can be carried
out in the home without nobody remembering? How can they help others without
asking for a reward?
Pray
•
Teach the children the seven words that Jesus said on the cross.
Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do. Who do I wish to
forgive today?
Today you will be with in paradise. Jesus shows compassion for the thief who
repented. What would I like to ask for forgiveness today?
This is your Mother. This is your son. Jesus care for his mother until his final
moment. What can I do today for someone who cares for me?
I thirst. Jesus on the cross is thirsty that all know God and do good. What can I do
to somewhat ease the thirst of Christ.
My God, why have you forsaken me? Jesus feels very alone. How can I accompany him in this moment?
It is finished. Jesus has done what his father asked of him. How do I do the things
others ask of me, even if they are difficult?
Father, into our hands I commend my spirit. Jesus surrenders and trusts his Father. In whom do I trust?

Parroquial.

¿A quién quiero perdonar yo hoy?
Ahí tienes a tu Madre. Ahí tienes a tu hijo.
Dios mío, ‘por qué me has abandonado?
