Illinois will commemorate the Centennial of The Great Migration next year. It marks
the recognition of the exodus and influx of African Americans that changed the
demographics of northern cities like Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee and other urban
centers. More importantly it gave blacks a “golden moment of hope.”
