Determine examples of internal vs. external conflict (man vs. man, nature, and society) Compare and contrast the experiences of reading a story between reading and listening viewing a video or a live version of the text and 3. interpreting how photos, drawings, videos and music affect what the readers perceive. 4. Determine the meaning of words and phrases through figurative knowledge and technical meanings. 5. Recognize theme or main idea using textual evidence within text. Trimester Three 1. Compare and contrast how two or more works approach a similar main idea in a nonfiction text. 2. Identify irony, parody and theme. Compare and contrast two or more works in different genres (fiction, non-fiction), subgenres (realistic, historical, biography, 3. autobiography, folklore, science, mythology, fantasy, informational, poetry). 4. Evaluate the impact of connotation and tone in a text.
