YASAR UNIVERSITY SoFL HOSTED FOCI IX MEETING FOCI was set up by the Curriculum Team of Sabancı University School of Languages in May 2010 for representatives from the curriculum teams of a range of foundation/preparatory programmes preparing students for their academic studies in English. The forum provides an opportunity for different state, foundation and private universities within the Turkish context to come together to discuss issues of concern, to share experiences and ideas relevant to curricular issues, to raise mutual awareness of the activities and approaches to curriculum issues in other programmes, and to build relationships and links between the curriculum teams in different institutions. Being the 9th, the meeting, entitled ‘Thinking Critically about Critical Thinking in the Curriculum’, was hosted by Yaşar Univertsity SoFL Preparatory Class on 09-10 May, 2014. During those two fruitful days, the participants not only talked about critical thinking as a concept or objective, but also engaged in critical thinking in a practical way to realise outcomes which can be implemented in respective institutions’ curriculum. “Forum on Curricular Issues” adlı çalışma Türkiye’de Sabancı Üniversitesi’nin önderliğinde 2010 Mayıs ayında başlatılmış olup yılda iki defa düzenlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Bu yıl dokuzuncusu düzenen iki günlük bu çalışmaya Yaşar Üniversitesi Yabancı Diller Yüksekokulu Hazırlık Sınıfı 09-10 Mayıs 2014 tarihlerinde ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Çalışmada İstanbul, İzmir, Denizli, Eskişehir, Kıbrıs, Bolu, Aydın ve Erciyes’ten toplam 31 akademisyenin katılımıyla “Eleştirel Düşünme”nin üniversitelerin hazırlık okulu müfredatlarındaki yeri, önemi ve uygulaması tartışılmıştır. Başarılı geçen oturumlar sonrası birçok farklı üniversiteden akademisyenler bilgi alışverişinde bulunma şansı elde ederken yükseköğretimde eleştirel düşünme konusunun önemi birkez daha vurgulanmıştır. http://fociturkey.wordpress.com/past-events/foci-ix-yasar-university-9th-10th-may2014/
