ἀρχαίοις, Οὐκ ἐπιορκήσεις, ἀποδώσεις δὲ
τῷ Κυρίῳ τοὺς ὅρκους σου. 34 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω
ὑμῖν μὴ ὀμόσαι ὅλως· μήτε ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ,

τὸ δὲ περισσὸν τούτων ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ ἐστιν”
Ματθ. 5, 37
Όταν λες ναι, να το εννοείς. Και όταν
λες όχι, πάλι να το εννοείς. Να τηρείς
τον λόγο σου. Να κρατείς και να τιμάς
την υπόσχεσή σου. Να είσαι σταθερός.
Να μη είσαι «όπου φυσάει ο άνεμος».
«Κάλαμος υπό ανέμου σαλευόμενος».
Όταν λες το ναι και είναι ναι και το
όχι και είναι όχι, τότε οι άνθρωποι σε
εμπιστεύονται. Τότε οι άνθρωποι ξέρουν
πού στέκονται. Ξέρουν πού βρίσκονται.
Κάνουν ανάλογα τα σχέδιά τους. Η
συνεργασία είναι εύκολη. Η πρόοδος
μεγάλη. Η φιλία σταθερή.
Όταν ειπείς ναι στο Θεό, δεσμεύεσαι
να κάνεις το θέλημά Του. Το θέλημα
του Θεού είναι για το συμφέρον το δικό

Γι’ αυτό δεν ζητεί να κάνεις το θέλημά
Υπέρτιμος και Έξαρχος
Του για το καλό το δικό Του, αλλά για το
παντός Καναδά
καλό το δικό σου. Σκέψου το καλά αυτό.
Αυτό είναι το πραγματικό σου συμφέρον. Η συμφωνία με τον
Θεό να κάνεις το θέλημά Του, έχει σαν αμοιβή την αιώνια ζωή.
Εάν δεν τηρήσεις την υπόσχεσή σου αυτή, εσύ θα χάσεις και όχι
ο Θεός.
Μην κάνεις «γλυκά μάτια» στην αμαρτία. Δελεάζει η αμαρτία,
αλλά οδηγεί στην καταστροφή.
Σκέψου καλά. Σκέψου έντιμα. Κάνε τους υπολογισμούς σου.
Ενήργησε φρόνιμα. Σοφά. Υστερα απ’ αυτές τις σκέψεις λέγε ναι
ή όχι και κράτησε την υπόσχεσή σου. Είναι το μόνο έντιμο και
τίμιο. Το μόνο που οδηγει σε συνεργασία και πρόοδο. Το μόνο
που οδηγεί στη σωτηρία.
Tο σύνθημα της νέας Εκκλησιαστικής μας χρονιάς και της
Κληρικολαϊκής μας Συνέλευσης είναι “Ἔστω δὲ ὁ λόγος ὑμῶν
ναὶ ναί, οὒ οὔ· τὸ δὲ περισσὸν τούτων ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ ἐστιν”.

For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.”
Matthew 5:37
When you say yes, you should mean it. And when you say no,
again, you should mean it. You should always honour your promise
and keep your word. You should be firm in your commitments. Do
not be like a leaf that is tossed to and fro “as the wind blows” or as
“a reed that is shaken by the wind.”
When you say yes and mean yes, or no and you mean no, then
people will trust you. People will know where you stand. They
know where they are. They make their plans accordingly. Then collaboration becomes possible. Progress will be great. Friendships and
relationships will be grounded on a sure foundation.
When you say yes to God, you are obliged to do His will. The
will of God is always in your favour and for your advantage. God is
above and beyond any need or advantage. This is why He does not
want you to do His will for His own sake, but for your own good.
Think about this carefully. This is your real and true advantage in
life. Your agreement with God to do His will in life, has as its reward
eternal life. If you do not keep this promise with God to do His will,
it is you who will lose and not God.
Do not look favourably upon sin, which separates you from God.
Sin is always inviting and tempting, but it leads one to destruction.
Think properly about this and above all, think honourably. Make
your calculations. Act judiciously and wisely. After you have made
your proper calculations and assessment of the deal, say yes or no
and keep your promise. It is the only fair and honest way to enter
into transactions and deals. This is the only method that will lead
to cooperation and progress. Ultimately, it is the only way that will
lead you to salvation.

Ο Θεοφιλέστατος Επίσκοπος
Ανδίδων κ. Χριστοφόρος γεννήθηκε
στην Αθήνα. Πτυχιούχος της Θεολογικής και Φιλοσοφικής Σχολής
του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών και Διδασκαλείου Μέσης Εκπαίδευσης. Με
υποτροφία του Ιδρύματος Κρατικών
Υποτροφιών έτυχε μετεκπαιδεύσεως
στη Μ. Βρετανία και έλαβε το πτυχίο
Master of Arts στο Πανεπιστήμιο Birmingham στο Birmingham. Υπηρέτησε την Δημόσια Εκπαίδευση ως
Γυμνασιάρχης, Λυκειάρχης, Προϊστάμενος Δευτεροβάθμιας Εκπαίδευσης Ν. Βοιωτίας και Σύμβουλος
Εκπαίδευσης στο Γεν. Προξενείο
του Τορόντο, Καναδά.
Υπηρέτησε ως Διευθυντής της Ορθόδοξης Θεολογικής
Ακαδημίας, Τορόντο (1998-2006).
Εξελέγη βοηθός Επίσκοπος την 10/06/99 και χειροτονήθηκε
την 26/06/99.
Ονομαστήρια: 9 Μαΐου.
His Grace Bishop Christoforos was born in Athens and is a
graduate of its Theological and Philosophical School. A recipient of the Greek State Scholarship, he received his Master of
Arts degree from the University of Birmingham in the United
Kingdom, specializing in teaching (pedagogy) at King’s College
in London. Bishop Christoforos also completed two-years of
military training, where he served as a Second Lieutenant of
Artillery.
He was elected Auxiliary Bishop by the Holy and Sacred
Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on June 10, 1999; he
was ordained as Bishop on June 26, 1999, by five participating
hierarchs at the Church of St. Nicholas in Toronto. His Grace
served as the first Dean of the Toronto Orthodox Theological
Academy, from 1998-2006.
Name Day: May 9 (Feast of St. Christopher the Holy Martyr
of Lycea).

A
t the beginning of the 20th century there were approximately
300 Canadians of Greek descent. The first communities established were the Greek Community of the Annunciation in
Montreal in 1896, the Greek Community of St. George in Toronto in
1909 and the Greek Community of Holy Trinity in Thunder Bay in 1918.
The first Bishop in Canada, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Elaia, was
appointed by the Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras in 1960 and was
followed by Bishop Timothy of Rodostolon 1963-1967 and Bishop
Theodosios of Ancona 1967-1973.
The present Metropolitan of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of
Toronto (Canada), Sotirios, was elected Bishop of Constantia on
December 18, 1973 and ordained on January 27, 1974. Since then,
he is serving the Church in Canada. He was promoted to Bishop of
Toronto in 1979 and Metropolitan of Toronto in 1996.
At the time of his election as Bishop, there were only 22 Churches in
Canada. Under his tenure, that number has grown to 76 Churches and
350,000 Greek Orthodox Christians. During his Archieratical service,
the Diocese and now Metropolis have established the Annual Youth
Assemblies (1980); a monthly newspaper, Orthodox Way (1982);
Social Services (1984); Metahomes (1984), providing transitional
housing for the homeless; Greek Orthodox Order of Canada (1987);
weekly television program Orthodox Voice (1990), which is broadcast
across all of Canada; School of Byzantine Music (1991); Convents of
St. Kosmas of Aitolos in Ontario and the Virgin Mary of Consolation
in Quebec (1993); Greek Orthodox Education in Ontario, (1996)
(“Metamorphosis” Greek Orthodox Day School, “Metamorphosis”
Child Care Centre, Toronto, Metamorphosis Preschool, Toronto, “St.
Nicholas“ Child Care Centre-Toronto). Homes for the Aged, (nine

μετανάστευση των Ελλήνων είναι γνωστή από την αρχαιότητα. Στις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα, στον Καναδά υπήρχαν
περίπου 300 Έλληνες. Οι πρώτες Ελληνικές Κοινότητες
που ιδρύθηκαν στον Καναδά, ήσαν στο Μοντρεάλ, στο Toronto
και στο Thunder Bay. Πρώτος Επίσκοπος στον Καναδά διορίστηκε
το 1960 ο Μητροπολίτης Ελαίας Αθηναγόρας. Ακολούθησε ο Επίσκοπος Ροδοστόλου Τιμόθεος 1963-1967 και ο Επίσκοπος Αγκώνος
Θεοδόσιος 1967-1973.
Ο νυν Μητροπολίτης Σωτήριος εξελέγη Επίσκοπος Κωνσταντίας στις
18 Δεκεμβρίου 1973 και εχειροτονήθη στις 27 Ιανουαρίου 1974 και
από τότε υπηρετεί την Εκκλησία στον Καναδά. Προήχθη σε Επίσκοπο
Τορόντο το 1979 και σε Μητροπολίτη το 1996.
Υπήρχαν τότε 22 Ελληνικές Ορθόδοξες Κοινότητες στον Καναδά. Τώρα
έχουν αυξηθεί σε 76. Σήμερα ο Ελληνισμός του Καναδά είναι περίπου
350.000. Κατά την Αρχιερατεία του τότε Επισκόπου και νυν Μητροπολίτου Σωτηρίου, η Ιερά Επισκοπή τότε και Μητρόπολη τώρα, ίδρυσε
τα κάτωθι ιδρύματα: Ετήσιες Συνελεύσεις Νεολαίας (1980). Μηνιαία
Ελληνορθόδοξη Εφημερίδα «Ορθόδοξη Πορεία» (1982). Κοινωνικές Υπηρεσίες (1984). Metahomes (1984), δηλαδή στέγες για τους
αστέγους. Την Ελληνική Ορθόδοξη Αδελφότητα του Καναδά (1987).
Εβδομαδιαίο Τηλεοπτικό Πρόγραμμα «Ορθόδοξη Φωνή» (1990), που
μεταδίδεται σε ολόκληρο τον Καναδά. Σχολή Βυζαντινής Μουσικής
(1991). Ιερές Μονές, Πατροκοσμά στο Τορόντο και Παρηγορήτισσας
στο Μόντρεαλ (1993). Οργανισμό Ελληνορθόδοξης Παιδείας στο
Οντάριο, (1996) (“Μεταμόρφωση”- Ημερήσιο Ελληνορθόδοξο Σχολείο,
“Μεταμόρφωση”Παιδικός Σταθμός-Toronto,“Μεταμόρφωση”ΠρονήπιοToronto), “St. Nicholas”, Παιδικός Σταθμός-Toronto). Οίκους Ευγηρίας
(εννέα Γηροκομεία στις πόλεις, Toronto, Montreal, Laval, Vancouver).

Ο Αρχιμανδρίτης Ιγνάτιος-Δημήτριος Δελής γεννήθηκε το 1946 στον Αλμυρό Μαγνησίας. Βασικές
σπουδές στον Βόλο. Πτυχιούχος της Φιλοσοφικής του
Αριστοτελείου Παν/μίου Θεσ/νίκης (1972). Επίσης
φοίτησε στην Θεολογική Σχολή του ιδίου Παν/μίου.
Yπηρέτησε την πατρίδα ως δόκιμος Αξιωματικός &
Έφεδρος Ανθυπολοχαγός Πυροβολικού (1972-74).

Εδίδαξε ως φιλόλογος καθηγητής στην Αθωνιάδα
Σχολάρχης
Εκκλησιαστική Ακαδημία του Αγ. Όρους (1975-1981) Θεολογ. Ακαδημίας
και εν συνεχεία στο ΤΕΕ (Τεχνικό Επαγγελματικό Εκπαιδευτήριο) Νέων Μουδανών Χαλκιδικής.
Μετεκπαιδεύτηκε με επιτυχία στη ΣΕΛΜΕ (Σχολή Εκπαιδευτικών Λειτουργών
Μέσης Εκπαίδευσης) Θεσσαλονίκης.
Τό 1982 χειροτονήθηκε διάκονος και πρεσβύτερος και υπηρέτησε στην Ι.
Μητρόπολη Λαγκαδά και στην Ι.Μ. Κασσανδρείας μέχρι το 2004. Από το 2004
με απόφαση της Ι.Σ. της Εκκλησίας της Ελλάδος και του ΥΠΕΠΘ αποσπάστηκε
και υπηρετεί ως κληρικός και καθηγητής στην Ορθόδοξη Θεολογική Ακαδημία
Τορόντο της Ι.Μ. Τορόντο (Καναδά). Έγινε Σχολάρχης της Ακαδημίας το 2006.
The Very Rev. Archimandrite Ignatios-Demetrios Delis was born in 1946
in Almiro, Magnesias, Greece. His early education was completed in Volos. He
graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1972) and also studied
at the Theological School of the same University.
He served Greece as a cadet Officer and as a second lieutenant (1972- 1974).
He taught as a Professor of Literature at the Athoniada Ecclesiastical School
of Agion Oros (1975-1981), and then at TEE (Technical Professional School) of
Neon Moudanon Chalkidiki.
He successfuly completed further studies at SELME (School for Teachers of
Middle Education) in Thessaloniki.
In 1982, he was ordained a deacon and priest, serving the Holy Metropolises
of Langada and Kassandria until 2004. Since 2004, with the decision of the
Holy Synod of the Church of Greece and the Ministry of Education & Religion,
he has been serving as a clergyman and professor of the Toronto Orthodox
Theological Academy of the Holy Metropolis of Toronto (Canada). He was appointed the Dean of the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy in 2006.

The Council of the Markham Community, together with Mr. Mayor F. Scarpitti, unanimously voted
that every year a flag-raising ceremony will be held at Markham
City Hall on the feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos.
