Q1. Explain the strategic role of HRM in healthcare.
Answer. Strengthening the employer-employee relationship is the strategic role of a human
resources manager. Human resources managers formulate workforce strategy and determine the
functional processes necessary to meet organizational goals. Their job requires expertise as an HR
generalist, which means they must be familiar with every human resources discipline.
Q2. Explain the evolution and broad perspectives of HRM in healthcare in India.
Answer. Evolution of HRM in India:
The evolution of HRM can be traced back to Kautilya Artha Shastra where he recommends that
government must take active interest in public and private enterprise. He says that government
must provide a proper procedure for regulating employee and employee relation. In the medieval
times there were examples of kings like Allaudin Khilji who regulated the market and charged
fixed prices and provided fixed salaries to their people. This was done to fight inflation and
provide a decent standard of living.
Q3. Discuss management development in healthcare organisations.
Answer. While delivering patient care has always been a primary goal of health care organizations,
financial outcomes have long been the metric by which success is measured. Increasingly,
however, health care leaders are being held accountable for both medical and financial outcomes.
As a result, health care executives and providers must understand the determinants of
organizational effectiveness—strategy, finance, operations, and leadership.
Q4. Define performance appraisal. Explain the components of performance appraisal.
Answer. Performance Appraisal is the systematic evaluation of the performance of employees
and to understand the abilities of a person for further growth and development. Performance
appraisal is generally done in systematic ways which are as follows:
1. The supervisors measure the pay of employees and compare it with targets and plans.
2. The supervisor analyses the factors behind work performances of employees.
3. The employers are in position to guide the employees for a better performance.
Q5. Describe HR audit process.
Answer. Phases of the Audit Process:
An audit can be an unpleasant surprise, or it can be a welcome opportunity to get your
organization's affairs in order. While some audits -- such as those performed by the IRS -- come as
a surprise, some companies hire independent outside auditors to conduct a planned audit.
Regardless of the kind of audit in which a company is involved, the auditor will likely use the same
four phases to perform the audit.
Q6. Discuss the importance of team work in healthcare services.
Answer. Essentials of team work:
1. Communication. This is the essence of effective Teamwork. Effective communication provides
understanding, interpretation and action. Ineffective communication leads to misunderstanding,
misinterpretation, and either inaction or inappropriate action.
2. Active listening. There are two responsibilities here: That of the sender and that of the receiver.
The sender must ensure that the message is clear and understood and the receiver must ensure
that if the message is not clear that they ask for clarification.
