The Award pays tribute to their humanitarian approach to journalism. Apart from the professional skills that this job implies, candidates are required to share the ideals that inspired both the work of the four journalists and the reason the Foundation was created in their name: solidarity among peoples, respect for ethnic and political diversities, peaceful coexistence and negotiation as a means to solve conflicts. The goals and scope of the contest are in line with the spirit that has inspired the activity of the Foundation which has hosted and provided medical care for hundreds of children coming from all over the world and suffering from injuries and diseases that cannot be treated in their countries. These principles are also shared by the winners of the Marco Luchetta Special Award - an acknowledgement reserved for those personalities who have distinguished themselves by pursuing the ideals upon which the Award is based. 11th MARCO LUCHETTA INTERNATIONAL PRESS AWARD 2014 Competition rules Art.1) Participation is reserved for journalists, cameramen and photographers who have distinguished themselves by dealing with the difficult theme of violence and oppression inflicted on the most defenceless victims: children.
