Founders’ Awards “KIST University Support Scholarships”
Dear KIST Families,
The KIST University Support Scholarships, a part of the Founders’ Awards program established by the school’s
Founders and Directors, Mr and Mrs Komaki, are offered to hardworking students who achieve high scores in the
Diploma Programme (DP). Similar to the separate KIST Study Scholarships, the University Support Scholarships are
provided through the generous donation of personal funds by the school founders.
The DP offered during the final two years at KIST is an extremely challenging program academically which is
recognized worldwide as a program for high level students. Students who achieve high scores in the DP go on to top
universities and KIST graduates each year are also accepted into leading universities around the world.
The DP also enables students to enjoy a variety of benefits once they enter university. In universities in the US and
Canada, for instance, students who acquire high marks in the DP are able to receive a university credit, and in certain
situations may even be able to accelerate grades. In addition to such benefits, we believe that studying in the DP
shapes students to go into the world as skilled people who become valuable assets to society.
Eligibility and selection criteria
University support scholarships are awarded to students according to their final DP score which is announced each
year at the beginning of July. The maximum score possible in the DP is 45 points. The scholarships are available in 3
categories:
Gold Award:
45 points
2,000,000 yen scholarship
Silver Award:
43-44 points
1,000,000 yen scholarship
Bronze Award: 40-42 points
300,000 yen scholarship
In addition to DP scores, students must also meet the following criteria.

Students who graduate from KIST with the full diploma.

Students who will enter university.

Students who do not exceed 10 instances of absence, late arrival or early departure during Grade 12. Absences
due to contagious diseases such as influenza, as well as hospitalization and bereavements, will be taken into
consideration.

Students who have displayed responsible conduct during Grades 11 and 12. This includes acceptable standards
of behavior as outlined in the School Handbook. Students showing no improvement despite receiving warnings
about their conduct will not be considered for an award.

Students whose parents have participated in school events and the School Support Program and fulfilled other
duties as required.
Other considerations:

Within the DP, high level math and science subject are considered to be especially difficult. In recognition of this,
for students who studied both math and a science subject at high level, one bonus point will be added to their
final DP score; however, even if the additional point results in a score of 43-45, they will not be eligible to receive
a silver or gold award.

For students who gain a bilingual diploma, one bonus point will be added to their final DP score; however, even if
the additional point results in a score of 43-45, they will not be eligible to receive a silver or gold award.
We hope that all students will strive to achieve a scholarship by continuing to study hard right up to the end of their
senior year.

KIST 大学進学支援奨学金制度について
KIST の皆様
KIST 大学進学支援奨学金制度は、学校の創設者である小牧ファミリーが設立致しました創設者奨学金のひとつです。
このアワードは、まじめに学習に取り組み DP で優秀な成績を収めた生徒に対し、大学進学を支援するためのもので、
対象者には大学進学に対する奨学金を授与致します。このアワードの財源は他の創設者奨学金と同じく、学校創設者
の奨学金のための寄付により賄われます。
KIST において最終 2 学年で提供されますディプロマプログラム（DP）は非常に難易度が高く、優秀な生徒が受けるプロ
グラムとして世界中で認知されています。DP で高得点を取得した生徒は、世界中の一流大学への道が開け、KIST から
も、毎年一流大学へ生徒を送り出しています。
また DP は、大学に入ってからも様々な特典を受けることがあります。アメリカやカナダの大学では、DP で高得点を取得
した場合、大学の単位を取得出来たり、飛び級となったりする場合もあります。それ以上の価値として、DP で学ぶことは、
将来有益で有能な社会人として必ず役に立ち、社会に貢献する財産となると信じています。
大学進学支援アワード詳細
毎年 7 月初旬に発表される DP の最終結果に対し、3 つのアワードがあります：
ゴールドアワード:
45 点中 45 点の生徒に対し
奨学金 2,000,000 円
シルバーアワード:
45 点中 43 点～44 点の生徒に対し
奨学金 1,000,000 円
ブロンズアワード:
45 点中 40 点～42 点の生徒に対し
奨学金 300,000 円
DP の最終結果以外に以下の点も必要条件となります。

KIST において DP 資格を取得し、また本校を卒業すること。

大学に進学すること。

G12 において欠席・遅刻・早退が 10 日間を超えないこと。但し、インフルエンザなどの伝染性の病気欠席や慶弔休
暇などやむを得ない事情がある場合は考慮されます。

G11／12 において期待される行動基準や学校の身だしなみ規定（スクールハンドブックに記載）を順守していること。
また、注意を受けても改善されなかった場合は、対象となりません。

保護者は学校の行事とサポートプログラムに参加し、親に求められる総ての義務を果たしていること。
その他に考慮する点として：

DP の数学と科学のハイレベルコースは特に難易度が高い事で知られています。
そのことを配慮し、数学と科学両方の教科をハイレベルコースで学んだ生徒には、DP の最終成績に１点ボーナス
ポイントを追加します。但しこの加点で 43-45 点になった場合、シルバーもしくはゴールドアワードにはなりませんバ
イリンガル DP 資格を取得した生徒には、DP の最終成績に１点ボーナスポイントを追加します。但しこの加点で
43-45 点になった場合、シルバーもしくはゴールドアワードにはなりません。
12 年生が、この大学進学支援奨学金を目標に、最後まで継続して学習に励む事を期待しております。
