Congratulations to Stoan Bush for his nomination as the October North Warren “Junior Student of the Month”! We are proud to congratulate Sarah Stewart on her nomination for the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Award! In June, Sarah will attend a three-day State Leadership Seminar at RPI filled with unique leadership training to help promote a better world. We are proud to have Sarah represent NWCS and the Class of 2017. Congratulations to both Blake Piper and Quin Taylor on their invitation to participate in the New York Ski Education Foundation program in Lake Placid this Winter! North Warren Career Day – On Wednesday, October 29th, all students in grades 7-12 had the opportunity to meet with representatives from a variety of career pathways for future planning and reference. A total of 14 career speakers had the opportunity to meet with two groups of students, each. Please be sure to follow up with your student to see what information they learned, and which future career paths they might be interested in. If you have any questions, please let Mr. Therio know. Thank you to all the parents and students who attended the Grade 8 Parent Night on Thursday, November 6th. Per request, the Power Point that we reviewed for Graduation Requirements has been emailed to all 8th Grade Parents. In the future, larger copies will be provided at the meetings for reference! If you have any questions, please be sure to let Mike Therio know at x752. As of November 7th, all 8th Grade Four Year plans have been completed. If your student hasn’t brought their plan home, or you would like to meet regarding any questions on the 4 year plan, please let me know. Page 1 of 3 All Sophomore students, along with any Juniors and Seniors who signed up for the ASVAB in October, had the opportunity to participate in an Interpretive Workshop of their results on Thursday, November 6th. Students then took a Career Interest Inventory. Results are available for the participants and their parents at www.asvabprogram.com. Please let Mr. Therio know if you have any questions. On Thursday, November 20th, all students taking courses in NanoTechnology, Physics, or Electricity and Electronics, will have the opportunity to tour the SUNY School of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at Albany. Participants are reminded to please dress professionally, bring $10.00 for lunch, and turn in their permission slips no later than Wednesday, November 19th. Additional Notes for Seniors and Juniors: A college planning timeline and information about academic preparation has been provided to all seniors and juniors. In addition, each senior student has had their meeting regarding academic and future career plans. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Therio in the Guidance Office. Some thoughts to consider for the college bound student:  Importance of deadline dates - (please remember that we need your completed application 2 weeks prior to the college’s posted deadline, and not later than December 1st for any applications that need to be sent prior to Christmas) Also, please remember to apply as early as possible to ensure the greatest opportunities for scholarships.  Explore Your Interests and Career Fit – Be sure you are applying to the program(s) that is/are right for you! Knowing your interests, skills and values as they relate to work can help you to choose the best fit for your future. The following tools are some of the best available resources: a. Also take a look at www.nycareerzone.org for a quick glimpse of careers that are right for you!  Financial Aid – North Warren Central School will host Skidmore College for their information session and workshop for seniors on Wednesday, December 17th at 6pm in the High School Library. Important and timely information for parents and seniors will be provided about the FAFSA and CSS forms and what steps are needed now for getting your financial aid package in place.
