未定です。第 2 学年後期末試験終了直後に交換留学を開始しましたが、幸い両親のサポートがあった
帰国後の進路
ことと、自分自身、卒業後に大学院進学をするか就職をするかまだ決めかねていることもあり、焦る
ことなく 4 年半かけて学部を卒業しようと考えています。
遡及進級はしていません。遡及進級をして就職活動を行うためには留学期間終了直後(2013 年 11 月頃)

に帰国しなければいけないという状況でしたが、折角の機会だったので、オーストラリアに 2014 年 1
月まで滞在しました。友人達が就職活動をする中で少し焦りを感じましたが、割り切ってオーストラリ
アに長く滞在することを決めました。
大学入学当初は漠然とアメリカやイギリスに留学しようと考えていましたが、環境ボランティアなど
どのように留学先を
選びましたか?
を通じて興味をもった「自然環境保護」についてより学問的に修めたいと思い、その分野に力を入れ
ている大学を探しました。調べていくうちに、オーストラリアが国として Ecologically Sustainable
Development を掲げており、オーストラリア国立大学やクィーンズランド大学が環境分野の研究・教
育に注力しているということを知り、それらの大学での交換留学を志願することに決めました。
クィーンズランド大学(UQ)はオーストラリアの魅力を目一杯詰め込んだ大学です。大学や街の雰囲気
はとても開放的で、ゴールドコーストなどのビーチにも日帰りで行ける距離にあります。人も開放的で、学
生はもちろん教授を含めた職員の方々もフレンドリーで心の距離がとても近いです。僕が初めてサッカーに
参加した時も快く受け入れてくれましたし、教授も親身になって進路相談に乗ってくれました。
UQ のあるブリスベンは一年を通して温暖で、冬も大学のパーカーがあれば十分です。僕は勉強に行き詰
まった時にもこの開放的な環境のおかげで気分を切り替えることができました。
加えて、世界中の人々が混ざりあい、多様な文化に触れられる刺激的な環境であるということも付け足し
ておきたいと思います。ちなみに、僕はイタリア、中国、ナイジェリア、ハイチ、モーリシャスからの留学
生と 6 人で一つ屋根の下楽しく過ごしていました。
留学期間中は何でも自分次第です。分野横断的にどんな授業でもとることができるし、フリータイムには
勉強したって、昼寝したって、ピクニックに行ったっていい。休暇中には友達と旅行にも行ける。お気づき
の方もいるかもしれませんが、実は慶應にいても基本的には同じです。違ったのは、周りにいる人々と環境
と何より自分の心構えでした。僕はひたすら自分の好きなことを勉強して、
価値観の異なる友人たちから色々
なことを学びました。環境管理分野で国境を超えて活躍する準備はできているか、ということを「見極める」
ために。10 人いれば 10 通りの留学生活があります。あなたはどうして留学したいのでしょう。明確な目的
がある人も、まだぼんやりしている人も、このチャンスはあなただけのものです。よかったらオーストラリ
アの魅力たっぷりの UQ も検討してみてください。
