Little Fort, B.C. | [email protected] | 778.208.5286
I’m a young buck at the age of 18 years, from Little Fort, B.C. I feel very blessed to be accepted
into this course and learn more about this industry. I always found logging interesting and
the opportunity to work in this sector is something I wouldn’t pass. I really enjoy being in
the mountains and the woods, from hunting to snowmobiling to fishing and everything
in between. This course has given me the opportunity to work in this environment as well
and for that I’m grateful. I look forward to what the future holds for me and what I can give
back to this industry.

100 Mile House, B.C. | [email protected] | 604.316.0379
“A big thank you to the Interior Logging Association, and all the sponsors for giving me the
opportunity to attend the HEO Forest Harvesting course.”
At 34 years old, I’m a hard working, dependable, conscientious driven individual who rarely
misses a day of work. My wife and I own a home in Sardis and are looking to relocate
ourselves and 3 children to 100 Mile House where we have numerous family connections.
The past 14 years I’ve been very dedicated to the Kal Tire retread plant and have been
working as a lead hand overseeing production and managing a staff team. I’m very aware
of my work environment and the importance of maintaining good safety practices. I’m a
friendly team player as well completely capable of completing individual tasks at hand.
I really look forward to the challenges that a heavy equipment operator position will give
me and the valuable experience I will gain in the future.

“ I am so thankful to have this amazing opportunity to be involved in such a great program.
The HEO Forest Harvesting program has already given me so much knowledge as well as the
experience to keep my life heading in the direction I want.”
I am 19 years old, born in Manitoba in a small farming town south of Winnipeg. I love
the outdoors and getting my hands dirty playing football and rugby. I enjoy quading,
dirt biking, skeet shooting, and good quality family time on the weekends. I moved to
Vernon, B.C. when I was 13 and couldn’t get enough of the outdoors and beautiful terrain

ever since. I’ve had experience using hand and power tools growing up, assisting my dad
install all types of flooring and renovating houses to sell for profit. I am eager to start the
next chapter in my life in the logging industry and show contractors that I can work hard
and use the skills I have been taught. I would prefer to stay around the Vernon area but am
willing to relocate where the work is in demand. I am eager to learn new skills and look
forward to contributing to the forest industry.

Lumby, B.C. | [email protected] | 250.550.8577
“This TRU HEO logging program is truly one of a kind. I have learned worlds of information from
my instructor Rocky Ashton. I would like to thank Rocky for all the time spent with me through
out the program.”
I am 20 years old and currently live in the town of Lumby, B.C. and love every moment of it.
I’ve lived in Lumby for 10 years now and my family has spent a large majority of that in the
logging industry, as my dad drives a logging truck and all of his buddies drive and operate
machinery.
I enjoy physical activity and being in the outdoors. I have spent my whole life in the bush,
hunting, fishing, camping, etc. and can’t get enough of the fresh air. I have been playing
hockey since a young age and continue to play it today. I really got into the logging world
when I started in the Forestry Program at Charles Bloom Secondary, where I hand bucked,
ran a John Deere 440 skidder and a CAT 650-G dozer. I was in that program for 2 years and
it opened the door for me to pursue a career in the logging industry as an equipment
operator. I look forward to finishing this program and being able to contribute to the B.C.
logging sector.

“I am truly enjoying the HEO Forestry program. I have learned so many valuable aspects of the
industry and I am very grateful to have had this experience.”
I am 22 years old, born and raised in Ashcroft, but currently reside in Kamloops B.C. I have
been interested in Forestry for quite some time. My interest comes from my grandfather
and father as they had been in the industry for many years. I am a very reliable and hard
worker. I am a fast learner and love a challenge. I can’t wait to put the knowledge I have
received over the period of this course to work. I am willing to relocate to wherever job
opportunities present themselves. This industry is where I want to be!

Mount Currie, B.C. | [email protected] | 604.698.6882
“First of all I would like to thank the ILA program staff and instructors and TRU for all of the
support. It has been a true honour and privilege for me to participate in this program.”
I grew up in a small farming community in southern Ontario. My mother originally hails
from Trail, and my father hiked most of B.C. as a geologist in the fifties and sixties. The first
vehicle that I learned to drive was a tractor. I have been interested in forestry for a long time,
and the more that I learn, the more I realize there is to know. I was employed as a letter
carrier with Canada Post for fourteen years when I decided that I needed a change and the
opportunities seemed to just start opening up. I am truly looking forward to beginning my
career in the forestry sector.

100 Mile House, B.C. | [email protected] | 250.706.9275
I’m 21 years old and live in 100 Mile House. I have lived in this area for about 8 years now
and would really like to get a logging job in this region. I enjoy being in the outdoors in
both the summer and winter. I have a passion for snowmobiling, hunting, archery, fitness,
boating, and quading.
I have been wanting to run forest harvesting equipment for years now and haven’t been
able to get the right opportunity like this coarse has given me until now. It’s been great.
I’m friendly, reliable, energetic and very hard working. I look forward to employment in the
logging industry, and putting my new skills to work and becoming an asset to a contractor
in the Cariboo/Chilcotin region.

Armstrong, B.C. | [email protected] | 250.546.3506 or 250.540.0493
I have lived in Armstrong for the past 20 years but I am willing to relocate for a job in the
forestry industry. I was born and raised on a farm, where I learned the basics of operation
and maintenance of farm equipment. I enjoy working on small engines with the North
Okanagan Lawnmower racing association. I have also been with the Canadian Armed
Forces for the past two years as a primary reserve force soldier. I have also worked for the
British Columbia Dragoons as a Armoured Reconnaissance Crewman, which are stationed
in both Vernon and Kelowna. Having the military under my belt I have learned what it takes
to be a strong leader, to take charge and react to the situation accordingly. I understand
how to work as a team, to take orders without argument and meet deadlines. I am eager to
use the knowledge I have gained from this forestry program, and I look forward to being a
reliable and productive employee for any logging contractor in B.C.
D AV I D W E I C H
Vernon, B.C. | [email protected] | 250.515.0404
I have run heavy equipment for the past 20 years in civil construction. Roads, sewers,
basements, etc. as well as deconstruction of buildings/homes and other construction
duties. I now want to pursue a career in the logging sector. I have always wanted to work
in the bush and working for a logging contractor operating a processor, loader/decker,
skidder, etc. gives me that opportunity. Working in the construction industry has provided
me with operator experience on steep hills, uneven ground and extremely tight areas.
Safety is another key component that I bring with me from the construction industry.
I am John Deere control proficient and have through this course had the opportunity to
learn CAT controls as well. My previous equipment experience is operating rubber and
track loaders, rubber and track excavators including articulating attachments, all skid
steers and other machines as well. I still have a learning curve to go on logging equipment
and I look forward to being fine tuned by, and working with, the right logging contractor
for the next 15-20 years. Special shoutouts to Rocky & Jill.
