This symposium is co-hosted by the British Council and the
British Embassy, Tokyo
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and
cultural relations. We create international opportunities for the people of the UK and other
countries and build trust between them worldwide. We work in over 100 countries in the arts,
education and English.
We create opportunities for policy makers and leaders in education and industry to discuss and
share ideas for the future global development of higher education, and provide opportunities for
institutions to build new and lasting partnerships. We conduct events such as symposia with the
aim of solving shared issues between Japan and the UK. We also support the
internationalisation of universities through the implementation of a range of activities, including
the provision of staff development programmes.

日英、および世界中の政策立案者、大学、産業界のリーダーが、今後の高等教育の世界的な発展へ

ています。また、日英の共通課題の解決へ向け、シンポジウムなどのイベントを開催するほか、大学の
国際化に向けた、プログラム開発支援、職員のための能力開発プログラムの提供を行っています。
The British Embassy’s Science and Innovation Section is part of the UK’s global Science
and Innovation Network, jointly funded and managed by the Department of Innovation,
Universities and Skills and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The team is the sole
representation for UK science and innovation in Japan and works closely with the major science
funding agencies, public and private sector organisations and networks in the UK.
There are many opportunities to increase collaboration between the UK and Japan, reflecting
the priority attached to science and innovation by both governments and the strength of the
research base in both countries. Science and innovation also has a major role to play in tackling
the challenges facing the world today - such as climate change, infectious disease and global
insecurity - and helping to develop the best possible policy solutions.

駐日英国大使館科学技術部は、イノベーション・大学・職業技能省と外務省が共同で資金供給・管理す
