Dear OCSI community of parents and teachers,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Most of you probably think the PTF has been “sleeping” over the
past month. Officially it has been, but there are still things “undercover” going on that
involve many different aspects of parent involvement in our wonderful school.
In the month of December there were 2 big events and many smaller ones. The PTF
sponsored a Christmas Craft Fair on December 8th which--for a first time event-- we
considered to be successful. At least, it was successful enough for us to think
seriously about doing it again with some adjustments next year. You can find a
financial report at the end of this letter.
MANY of our parents were very involved in the all school Christmas program. It was a
wonderful Christmas event in which the entire elementary was involved and many from
the secondary. Thank you to all the parents who spent so much time in creating props
and costumes and helping with practices etc.
In December, there were also many class parties which were mostly organized by our
class moms together with our teachers. Thank you all so much for wonderful
memories.
This is BASKETBALL season. Both our girls and boys teams have had some great
wins and also a couple of losses but we are very proud of them--especially the boys
who will be participating in the Far East competition held in Tokyo the middle of
February. Let’s all cheer them on! And, of course, many parents are involved in
raising money and supporting our teams by attending their games and cheering them on.
Thank you to all those parents!
Speaking of sports, one of the goals for the PTF this year is to establish a BOOSTER
COMMITTEE. This group of parents will meet throughout the year to help create more
ways in which to show our support for ALL of our OCSI sports teams.
The big upcoming event is the BAZAAR on March 16th. Many of our parents are
already committed to putting in many hours to make this a successful fund raising event
for the school. I hope you will all think about donating some of your time as well.
Expect more information about opportunities to help to come from both the school and
the class moms.
As always, I welcome your input to make a better and more effective PTF. And, as
always, I look forward to more opportunities to get to know more of you personally.

親愛なる OCSI コミュニティーの保護者の皆様、先生方。
明けましておめでとうございます。多くの皆様は過去１ヶ月の間 PTF は眠っていたと思われているでしょう。表向きに
はそう見えたと思います。しかし水面下では多くの保護者がさまざまな面でこの素晴ら
しい学校のために動いているのです。
去る１２月は２つの大きなイベントと小さなイベントがいくつもありました。
１２月８日に PTF 主催のクリスマスフェアがありました-- 第一回目の – これは成功
したと言えるでしょう。少なくとも、反省点をふまえた調整をすれば来年も開催できる
と真剣に思える成果はあったと思います。この手紙の後に今回の会計収支報告がありま
す。
たくさんの保護者が「全校クリスマスプログラム」準備に多大な協力をしてください
ました。この素晴らしいクリスマスイベントには、全ての幼、小学部生徒と多くの中、
高生徒たちが参加しました。小道具、大道具、衣装などの製作に時間を費やし、あら
ゆる面で関わってくださったボランティアの方々に感謝をいたします。
１２月はたくさんのクラスパーティーもありましたが、ひとえに、クラスマムの皆様が
先生方と協力して準備してくださったおかげです。素敵な思い出を作っていただいて感
謝いたします。
今はバスケットボールのシーズンに入っています。女子、男子それぞれ試合をこなし
ており、いくつも勝利と２戦ほどの負けがありましたが、とてもよく頑張っている選手
達を誇りに思います。特に、男子チームは２月中に東京で開催されるファーイースト
コンペティションに参戦します、応援しましょう！もちろん多くの保護者が資金造
りに尽力したり、試合観戦で応援したりチームをサポートしています。これらの保護様
者達に感謝いたします。
スポーツの話が出たので、ここで紹介しておきますが、PTF の今年の目標の中に、ブ
ースター委員会の発足があります。 OCSI の全てのスポーツチームを支援するための
より良い方法を模索しながら活動する保護者で構成します。
さて、次の大きなイベント、バザーが３月１６日です。多くの保護者の皆様はこの
学校最大の資金作りイベントに時間を費やす心積もりを既にしておられる事でしょう。
皆様から多くの献品をしていただける事も望みます。
詳細、協力の申し込みなどは、後日学校からとクラスマムからお知らせします。
PTF がより良いものになるために、皆様からのご意見など常に歓迎します。そして、
皆様と個人的にも親しくなれることをいつも楽しみにしています。
