関係副詞ある副詞には

関係副詞
ある副詞には「文と文とつなげる働き」がありますが、このような働きのある副
詞を「関係副詞」と言います。
[前置詞＋関係代名詞]は「関係副詞」に書き換えることができます。
上記の書き換えは、
「[前置詞＋名詞]は[副詞]の働きをする」ということが根拠と
なっています。
He played the piano (in the auditorium).
＊(in the auditorium)は play the piano を修飾する副詞の働きをしている。
[前置詞＋関係代名詞]も副詞の働きをします。
つまり、[前置詞＋関係代名詞]は「文と文とをつなげる副詞＝関係副詞」に書き
換えることができます。
＜関係副詞の種類＞
場所を表す前置詞＋関係代名詞＝where
時を表す前置詞＋関係代名詞＝when
理由を表す前置詞(for)＋関係代名詞＝why
方法を表す前置詞(in)＋関係代名詞＝how
＜書き換え＞
This is the house [in which Shakespeare was born].
→This is the house [where Shakespeare was born].
My father remembers the day [in which Kennedy was assassinated].
→My father remembers the day [when Kennedy was assassinated].
I know the reason [for which he isn't interested in the book].
→I know the reason [why he isn't interested in the book].
I want to know the way [in which he succeeded].
→I want to know [how he succeeded]
＊関係副詞 how は注意が必要です。
関係代名詞 how を用いるときには、先行詞 the way は必ず省略されます。
＊関係副詞は省略可能です。
＊先行詞が「the place, the time, the day, the reason」の場合は、
先行詞を省略することができます。
【先行詞の省略】
関係代名詞にはない用法です。
My father remembers the day [when Kennedy was assassinated].
＝My father remembers the day [Kennedy was assassinated].
＝My father remembers [when Kennedy was assassinated].
【関係副詞の先行詞の省略のイディオム】
＜that' why：そういうわけで＞
You're so beautiful. That is the reason [for which I love you].
You're so beautiful. That is the reason [why I love you].
＊the reason を省略すると
That is [why I love you].
あなたはとてもきれい。それが私があなたを好きな理由なの。
→あなたはとてもきれい。だから(そういうわけで)、私はあなたが好きなの。
Avril Lavigne の"I love you"の歌詞の中には、that's why が何度も出てきます。

He worked hard. That was how he succeeded.
＊関係副詞 how は、必ず先行詞 the way を省略します。
彼は一生懸命に働きました。それが彼が成功した方法でした。
→彼は一生懸命に働きました。そうやって、彼は成功したのです。
