State Corporation “Ukrainian State Association “Radon” Management of Radioactive Waste Resulted from Military Activity of USSR in Ukraine Volodymyr Perevoznyk IAEA CEG Plenary Meeting 19-21 November 2014 Rome, Italy Radioactive waste storages, left over from the Soviet Army • During the period between 1960 and 1990 Armed Forces of the former USSR disposed radioactive wastes at some objects. • After 1991 these object were transferred to Armed forces of Ukraine. • Ukraine did not receive any information on nature and properties of these wastes. Therefore these wastes are hardly known. • Currently storages are controlled by these objects owners. They should ensure their physical protection.
