The Medford District, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is looking for volunteers to participate in the 16th annual National Public Lands Day. In what has become the largest volunteer hands-on effort of its kind in the country, participants will come together to lend a hand to the very lands they use to hike, bike, climb, fish, swim, explore, picnic, or just plain relax.
The Medford District is establishing temporary rules to restrict certain activities and uses at Upper and Lower Table Rocks (Table Rocks) starting March 26, 2014. The temporary rules affect approximately 2,325 acres of BLM-administered lands within the Table Rocks Management Area, which is located between Modoc Road, Antioch Road, Highway 234, and the Rogue River. The restrictions stem from recent land acquisitions to protect sensitive resources on the Table Rocks.
The Medford District Bureau of Land Management will be closing the Hyatt Lake Recreation Complex main campground to camping as well as closing the restrooms and fish cleaning station beginning Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 3p.m. However, the main boat dock within the recreation complex will remain open for use through the fishing season and will close on November 1, 2012. A portable toilet will be available for use near the main boat ramp and dock. Day use fees still apply. Dry camping within the main campground will be prohibited but Wildcat Campground on Hyatt Lake will remain open until vehicle access is prevented by snow.
The Medford District Bureau of Land Management is delaying the opening of the Hyatt Lake campground and boat docks until at least May 15 due to budget uncertainties. The facility traditionally opens in mid-April at the start of fishing season. The BLM cannot hire the necessary number of seasonal employees needed to prepare the campground, plow the roads, assemble the floating boat dock, and perform other required tasks before opening the area for recreational use.
The Medford District Bureau of Land Management has extended the comment period for the Draft Timber Mountain Recreation Management Plan Environmental Impact Statement by 30 days. The comment period will now end on May 13, 2009. "We recognize that many people have an interest in this plan and we want to make sure everyone has a chance to study the Draft EIS and offer their comments," said Tim Reuwsaat, District Manager.
The Medford District Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will hold a public comment forum on April 2, 2009 at the Medford Interagency Office, 3040 Biddle Road, Medford, Oregon. The forum is an opportunity for the public to express opinions on the draft Timber Mountain Recreation Management Plan, which has been developed to guide off-highway vehicle (OHV) use in the Timber Mountain Special Recreation Management Area, also commonly referred to as John's Peak.
The Medford District Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest invite the public to the annual Rogue River Users Meeting on Monday, November 16, 2009, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Grants Pass Interagency Office at 2164 NE Spalding Avenue. The meeting agenda includes: Rogue River fee collections and expenditures, 2009 use levels, 2009 compliance summary, Rogue River program changes, and open discussion.
